  1. I think the Brewers are better with Houser. Albers, I’m guessing, will return to form. Worried about Logan though. I hope it’s not that good year/bad year thing that relievers go through. And I’m more than just a little relieved that CC implied Hader’s innings would shorten up a bit.

  3. I love how frustrated Rizzo got. But I gotta say I love the implication: “i’m a star, anything on the black is a ball.” So entitled.
  4. Wow, nice catch adam. Those numbers are startling. I wonder if it’s always been this way.
  5. That’s a great point about the AAA move, Joey. I think he’s in the near term plans once the Crew are convinced his arm is sound.
  6. Get me Gleyber Torres and I’ll dump Aggy. But seriously, this dude is going no where. His approach at the plate is awesome. He’s super cheap. He’s a clubhouse hero if the rumors are true. He makes DS look sexy, beautiful. Keep him, trade Thames if he reestablishes himself.
  7. That Astros trade was pure gold as well. And the Khris Davis trade? That’s the gift that keeps on giving. I’d rather have Phillips, Broxton, Santana, Braun in two years, a disease of unknown origin. You name it. But seriously, I think Stearns best trade is the one yet to come. Make a move oh Swami of the diamond. I await your magic.
  8. God, I’m so afraid of the Cards as well. It took all my willpower to predict the series 2-2, when in actuality I think it will be 1-3 or even 0-4. Too many years of getting beaten up by bullies, it takes it toll.
  9. Does anyone else see a similar scenario playing out. A prospect the Brewers want to start eventually but who is so effective in relief that he forces them to keep him in the pen. Houser just looks like an awfully good two inning man who could be used in high leverage situations. Is his stuff filthy enough to be dual-headed Hader?
  10. Win or lose I love the way they play; I really like how they are managed. And am absolutely enamored with the way the team is orchestrated by DS. Dare I say: I enjoy this team more than Yount, Molitor, Cooper team. Go Crew!
  11. I more or less agree with your lists with the exception of Santana. He never was worth much. There’s no fooling naive GMs anymore, analytics have seen to that. I just hope he never leaves his modus operandi and continues to accumulate A ball players in some numbers. I want a pipeline of young players so we don’t have to depend on Yelich type trades. The Yelich trade was his best trade but I love the Lind trade best. I also think the Yelich trade is one that only comes generationally.
  12. @white Sox 2-1 @indians 1-1 @phillies 1-2 Cubs 1-2 Phillies 1-2 @Pirates 2-1 St. Louis 2-2 KC 1-1 @Reds 1-2 12-14 17-11 for the northsiders I agree the Cubs are significantly better than we are, but we’re the better fighters. For now we stave them off. For now I remain an acolyte of Stearns who I believe will plug a hole or two cheaply (like Kratz who has already been a significant upgrade—crossing fingers he can keep it up).
  13. Has Kratz already surpassed Bandy’s Offensive contribution with a single game? (Of course his regression will now be monumental.) Nice move.
  14. All sounds great as long as you are a Marlins fan and not a Brewer fan. I just think that JT has much more long term value at a more important position. Relievers are often up and down year to year. Of course the Brewers would never to it because fans are rightfully enamored of Hader. I’m also not convinced that Huira has a long term future with Brewers. Until that arm is fixed he smells like a DH. Castro would offer genuine stability at second base and I don’t think Erceg or Ponce will ultimately make it. Losing Villar gets rid of the headache and upgrades us defensively. Anyways, it all just idle speculation but I do believe the Brewers would be better this year.
  15. At the risk of being strung up I’d like to propose JT for Huira and Hader. And then try to expand that by adding Villar, Ray, Erceg, and Ponce for Castro and international monies. (I’m ducking right now)

  17. Each of these scenarios seem reasonable. I can see each working and I think Stearns is smart enough to know the same. So I agree, the bullpen regresses, the offense improves somewhat, which mitigates some of the loss. But I’ve got a feeling Knebel will reassert himself fully and so some of that bullpen regression will be lessened. Plus, as far as the bullpen goes there’s still arms like Houser in the minors who could come up and make a difference, and so the regression could be lessened further. Nelson is the problem. I just can’t see him coming back and being the same guy. God, I hope I’m wrong but I’m skeptical, but say he does well then it’s Katy bar the door as far as I’m concerned. Hitting wise: I’m begging CC to just give Villar the at bats. So 90? Not sure, but my prediction has picked up to 87 from 85.
  18. I feel the road to the majors is so difficult and the track record of even 1st rounders so suspect that I don’t think anything about Corey. If I had to guess I’d say...well, I wouldn’t even guess. His numbers are unimpressive but he’s toolsy by all accounts. Sounds like a guy who will find himself late or not at all. Sure would be sad to throw away that high of a draft pick since we probably won’t be looking at a top ten pick for quite awhile now.
  19. I think he’d be a great pick up, but I think he’d be expensive as well. Probably worth a top ten player plus a major leaguer. I’d give up Dubon plus, but I’m betting they ask for Burnes or Peralta plus.
  20. Knebel will be lucky to have a job. Jeffress and Hader have obviously surpassed him
  21. I especially love it when he’s high in the zone. It’s just a giant “up yours” to this new fangled launch angle. Hitters are just begging to be struck out today. Love it.
  22. I know that eventually the NL will give, but I hope by that time I’m dead (and I mean that seriously). I’ve just about had enough of the bastardization of the game I love. The ship is sinking and most will be glad when it does. Doesn’t make it right, only popular. But enjoy (and I mean that seriously as well). One of the things I loved about baseball was that everyone had to run, throw, hit, field, etc. I loved bad hitting pitchers and good hitting pitchers even more. And when a bad hitting pitcher did get a hit it was something special, expectations rose, the crowd got excited even more. But more than that, in a game that is trying to do whatever it can to genericize itself, pitchers hitting offered a bit of variation and diversity, the rules changed just that little bit to add nuance and color to the game.
  23. I really hope to see Drake in a major league uniform soon...preferably in a Cubs uniform
  24. I’m trying to teach myself these new stat/terms. Just when I got used to OPS, WAR, etc. up pops bWar, FIP etc. is there a website that explains or defines these updated terms for dunderheads like me.? Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is an inappropriate topic.
  25. I wish CC would change his mind about Woodruff and give him a string of starts, but I think he hates walks a lot and therefore Suter queues ahead of Brandon. I think I saw somewhere that Woodruff is like 4 something per 9 innings in Colorado.
