  1. I think the top target has to be Bellinger as he can play RF, CF, 1B, or DH. Yeah, maybe he's been a bit lucky, but he's likely to be a lot better than what they've had at those positions.
  2. I would also add the undrafted Jeff Peterek to the list of Brewers pitchers debuts. 7 IP, 2 H against the Yankees in 1989.
  3. Unfortunately Gasser and Misiorowski with mediocre performances today, but Woody looking sharp was by far the most important.
  4. I don't understand why I couldn't watch the Brewers on their damn app. Show commercials between innings just like on TV. Me watching on the app increases your total viewership which will increase your ad revenue.
  5. Frelick wasn't even the most incredible thing that happened in the org today. Biloxi was down 7-2 heading into the top of the 9th and hung a 10-spot in their half inning.
  6. How do you walk Harris on four pitches to bring Acuna up?
  7. Heck of an outing by Houser, just one bad pitch to a loaded lineup.
  8. Gameday on mlb.com used to have a feature where you could see where all of the outs landed on the field. I can't find it - did they get rid of it, or is it hiding somewhere?
  9. Stearns - he signed Wong to Wong's contract. It was a crap for crap trade.
  10. Houser's last four outs have been a strikeout of Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies, Matt Olson, and Sean Murphy. I wonder how many other pitchers have struck out those four guys in a row.
  11. Same here - as expected, I'm getting Sox-Twins as I live in Chicago. I tried signing into the Fox Sports app w/my parents Spectrum login (they live in the Fond du Lac area) and I still get the "this game is not included in your TV package" error when I try to select it.
  12. If you're complaining about Adames/where he is in the lineup, for the 16 games in July he's .258/.306/.576 for a .881 OPS. This late in the season his season totals aren't going to change much over the course of a week or two no matter what he does.
  13. Wiemer was called up because of injury and started because they were facing a LHP. Turang made the team out of spring training and wasn't a callup. I don't recall Mitchell being late. He found out the night before and it was a 6:10PM game start.
  14. I recall it being the opposite. Unless they need a guy to start because of injury, they usually have not started a prospect and let him "take it all in" for a day so they're not completely overwhelmed because of nerves, chaotic last minute travel, figuring out where to go and how everything works, lack of sleep, etc.
  15. HS players are the hardest to project, but can have the highest upside. At one point earlier this year, on MLB.com's top 100 prospect list you had to go down to at least #17 before you found a player who was drafted out of college. The top 16 were drafted out of HS or an international FA signed at age 16. So take a bunch of HS players, throw them up against the wall, and see who sticks. That's kind of what they did with Knoth, Bitonti, and Pratt (and to a lesser extent, Birchard, as he was still 19 on draft day).
  16. Why trade prospects for a 1B with an OPS below .700? They already have one in Tellez. Tellez had a .886 OPS in March/April and a .830 OPS as recently as June 1st. He had an awful June - and admitted he was playing hurt with the forearm injury. A healthy Tellez has showed that he has more upside.
  17. Rooker is no different than Tellez. Do people not remember that Tellez had a .886 OPS in March/April and an .830 OPS as late as June 1st?
  18. I'm not following. In your Baez/Williams to the Mets comparison you referenced Pete Crow-Armstrong as what it took to get those two. That was the fall of 2021 - PC-A wasn't thought of nearly as highly then as he is now. He wasn't ranked in any top 100 prospect list until pre-2023. He was 19 and in A-ball and had a lot of development risk - he hadn't made the jump to AA yet. Black has, so he has much less development risk, and thus EBJ is closer now to the trade value that PC-A was in the fall of 2021. Trade values have to be discounted by risk - injury risk, age risk, development risk, performance risk. PC-A had a lot of development risk in 2021.
  19. Assuming the total for picks 7-10 is $200K (which I think is pretty accurate), that leaves $4.3M to split between Bitonti and Pratt.
  20. .758 road OPS this year - not stellar, but certainly better than their .571 OPS in RF. (Just don't look at his road OPS last year.) Also, .927 OPS vs. LHP this year. I'd be on board.
  21. 1) That was the Mets - they don't make the best personnel decisions. B) At the time, PC-A was a 19-year-old in A-ball with 32 career professional plate appearances to his name. There was plenty of development risk. Tyler Black has successfully made the jump to AA - he has a lot more value today than PC-A did in 2021. If it's a late 1st round pick below AA, EBJ is the much better comp. Or Guilarte or Luis Lara (or both). 3) Every team in the league has access to Bellinger's advanced metrics and the Cubs know it. Even if he does regress to his metrics, what will that project to be? Still has to be a lot better than the Brewers .571 OPS from RF. His ISO and line drive % are less than his career averages, and he is only striking out 17.7% of the time. There are reasons to think that he won't regress that much.
