  1. 70% of pitchers are RH, so I think success vs LHP is a bit overrated.
  2. 70% of pitchers are RH, so I think success vs LHP is a bit overrated.
  3. For those who've watched him pitch, is Alexander Vallecillo someone to watch? Just turned 20, has some good stat lines this year and last year, walked <3.0/9 both seasons and picking up the K's this year. Listed as 6'2", 150, so there's definitely some growth potential.
  4. Has anyone brought up his name yet? He's under contract for 5-6 more seasons at a non-oppressive salary (average of ~$14M/year). Has played 2B exclusively this season but has played over 1000 innings in CF with a .991 fielding %. Switch hitter, better against LHP but not terrible against RHP. That's a little skewed against relievers; he's much more even vs RHP/LHP starting pitchers. I assume he'll cost a pretty penny as he is entering his peak years at age 28. But he can play CF this year and take over for Wong (and Wong's salary slot) next year, then flip him for prospects once Valerio/Black are ready. And ARI isn't going anywhere the next few seasons. What would it take? I assume one of Frelick/Mitchell plus one of Valerio/Turang and at least two other top-15 prospects.
  5. The MLB average K% is 22.3%. The Brewers are 23.4%. The Nationals have the second lowest K% in MLB, and the Rockies and Royals are in the top 10. The Royals and Nationals have scored the 4th and 5th lowest runs/game. Tops in OBP are the Dodgers, Yankees, and Blue Jays, followed by the Rockies, Mets, Twins, Cardinals, Cubs, Mariners, and Brewers. Coincidentally, the Yankees, Dodgers, and Blue Jays are also 1-3 in runs/game, followed by the Braves, Mets, Giants, Brewers, Phillies, Rockies, Cardinals, and Twins. The Brewers are league average in terms of % of times a baserunner scores at 31%. Tops in the league is 33%, bottom is 27%. K% doesn't have a high correlation with runs scored, and other teams strike out a lot with runners on base too.
  6. In the last seven games that he played - 6 starts and 25 plate appearances - he had a 1.194 OPS. Very small sample, but if that's not "setting the world on fire" over seven games then I don't know what is.
  7. It's amazing how many people can't grasp this in so many aspects of life...
  8. I wouldn't give all three, but I'd give: Their choice of Frelick/Mitchell Wiemer (his last month and a half have been brutal... there's a chance they might be selling high here) Their choice two of Hedbert Perez/Eduardo Garcia/Joe Gray/Carlos Rodriguez (OF)
  9. A healthy and effective Cousins and Topa would be a big upgrade over Gott, Gustave, and McGee.
  10. Essentially, based on slot value, the Brewers got the equivalent of #32/#33, #38, #80 for draft position #27, #63, and #72. In Packers draft terms, they moved down a few spots in the first to trade up to an early 2nd round pick and move down a few slots with their second 2nd-round pick. According to the Rich Hill model, they gave up (216 + 84 + 67 = 367) for (182 + 157 + 56 = 395). Clearly won that trade...
  11. Ahem.. So essentially, Misiorowski was their 1st round pick.
  12. @Joseph ZarrNo mention of Jake Cousins pitching a clean inning with no BB and 2 Ks in Arizona? If the Brewers can't land a CF before the trade deadline, I wonder if Mitchell gets the call as one of the two extra roster spots?
  13. Fisker is a step ahead of you
  14. I grew up in one, my grandparents lived on a farm, and my parents live in an unincorporated community, thank you. And it's one more thing they have to worry about and take time to do instead of being at home.
  15. Martinez's June OPS of .713, July OPS of .675. McCutchen's June OPS of .911, July OPS of .750. Martinez's May OPS was due to a .520 BABIP. His April/June/July are more like what to expect. I'd rather have McCutchen who can at least play a passable OF.
  16. That's factored into wRC+.
  17. The Brewers are desperate to find a centerfielder as well. And who would Peralta replace on the roster?
  18. Alright Counsell, don't be so habitual/stupid to not let Hader go two innings after throwing only 9 pitches that inning if they don't score here.
  19. It was a great first pitch. Gotta back Buxton off of the plate after what he's been doing this game. Set up his next two pitches perfectly.
  20. Throwing 102 and then snapping off a curveball like that is just not fair.
  21. I'm about an inning behind. Did they say that the ball is different in the majors versus AAA? That can't be an easy transition. Last night the inside edge of the zone was getting called a strike against the Brewers all night long. Not being called against the Twins tonight at all.
