  1. Doubt they will use Hader tomorrow, but he should be available on Wednesday.
  2. Correct! And he finished 9th. Edged Molitor for the batting title and for the OPS title (1.049 to 1.003) and for the OBP title (.461 to .438). Juiced ball or not, .461 OBP is pretty ridiculous.
  3. Lean into one Arcia Edit: missed two opportunities to get a HBP. Come on, man. Suck it up.
  4. He releases the ball I believe closer to the plate than any other pitcher, and with the shorter distance it's the equivalent of throwing 96-97.
  5. 24 players got an AL MVP vote that year, including Kirby Puckett (3rd, .900 OPS), Tony Fernandez (8th, .805 OPS), Gary Gaetti (10th, .788 OPS), Jeff Reardon (11th), Darrell Evans (12th, .880 OPS), Doyle Alexander (13th), Wally Joyner (.894 OPS, 13th), Robin Yount (18th, .862 OPS), Kevin Seitzer (20th, .869 OPS), Ruben Sierra (20th, .771 OPS), Jose Canseco (23rd, .780 OPS), and Matt Nokes (24th, .880 OPS). Quite a few guys with a lower OPS got votes that year. Trivia - who had the highest OPS that year among vote-getters?
  6. And who had Larry Sheets putting up a .921 OPS in 1987? And hitting .316 with 31 HRs and 94 RBI? And not getting one MVP vote for doing that?
  7. Who had Eastern Mennonnite University as even having a baseball team, much less producing a major leaguer? Edit - they have two! Larry Sheets is the other!
  8. I could see sticking with Miley if his spot was due up in the next inning but it wasn't. Got 12 in the bullpen - don't take chances.
  9. Wow. What they gave away on the weak double they just got back with Schoop's play.
  10. There were rumors that the Cubs were sniffing around Moustakas because Bryant was injured at the time, might have caused the Brewers to pay a little more. Personally, I'd put Medeiros for Soria right up there in terms of partner return.
  11. Maybe. They often pitch differently based on whether the wind is blowing in or out. With the wind blowing in they may be more aggressive and pitch to contact more. Lester has only thrown 36 pitches through two innings despite five hits and a walk.
  12. He's their enforcer. When they start whining about balls and strikes he can look at Maddon and tell him what he told Votto.
  13. [sarcasm]Should've cut Cobb, the could have used his salary elsewhere.[/sarcasm]
  14. Guessing Knebel unavailable after 1.1 innings two games in a row. Soria has pitched three games in a row; probably shouldn't be available. Cedeno probably available for one batter, maybe two. Guessing the order tomorrow, if all goes well, is Miley, then a few R/L/R matchup switches (Williams/Jennings/Barnes), then Hader/Jeffress. If all doesn't go well, Woodruff in long relief.
  15. I'd put Freddie Freeman in the conversation. I think he's on par with Baez and Carpenter.
  16. I'm sure it happens somewhere at every game. I've been to one Brewers-Cubs game this year and one last year - this year at Miller Park (last night) and last year at Wrigley. Saw the same thing both times - a 20-something drunken frat boy starts talking crap around the 5th inning, and by the 7th inning even the Cubs fans around him are telling him to knock it off, with security/police soon to follow. To the credit of the Cubs fan, both times the Cubs fans around him were actively trying to get him to stop and were trying to restrain him. I imagine the profile is similar - a drunken 20-something frat boy - regardless of team/stadium.
