  1. Someone mentioned this about a month ago, but there may be something that Brewers brass is privy to that we are not. If there is a lockout next year, then nobody on the 40-man roster can play. Players not on the 40-man can still play in the minors. If that comes to fruition, then you lose a year of development for any young players who get put on the 40-man this year. Then it's 2020 all over again, losing playing time and momentum and then trying to restart in 2028 (hopefully).
  2. Imagine the fan message board reaction if the Brewers run out of gas in August because the manager doesn't give any starting position player a day off and he works his bullpen to death trying to win every single game.
  3. Because I'd welcome Andruw Monasterio back with open arms. Even IK-F, as much as I dislike him, would be an upgrade over Rengifo. Hell, I'd give Seigler another chance at 3B.
  4. The appeal of Skubal is that he's LH. When you're trying to get to the WS and you have to go through: Ohtani Freeman Muncy Tucker Schwarber Harper Skubal has that much more value. I'd do Jett/Lara/Letson, so long as Letson is in a PTBNL group that is based on Skubal's health and how far the Brewers make it in the playoffs. I think any deal for Skubal has to include one or two PTBNLs with a couple of tiers of players because of his health.
  5. Make sure you're in the shade tomorrow. Gonna be balls hot.
  6. You going tonight? I'll be there, sitting right next to the dugout, 2nd row. Meeting some other Wisconsinites at Swanky's before the game.
  7. Odds of Counsell filling out an unemployment claim tomorrow?
  8. Hey, we didn't lose 18-3 at home to a team that's 25-38!
  9. I don't know that it matters why JA is no longer playing 2B. But I would think that if the Brewers still envisioned him being potentially even a backup 2B he would still be getting some time there. Dickinson isn't some top prospect that he's being bumped at 2B for. Bottom line is that JA is no longer playing 2B at all, so I don't think that he is a threat to O'Rae's future.
  10. Anyone else find it interesting that Luke Adams played 3B and Jett Williams played CF?
  11. Adamczewski is pretty much a LF at this point. This year he's played 1.1 innings at 2B and 342 inning in LF. Last year in the AFL he played 17 innings at 2B and 144 innings in LF.
  12. I went with "4" as well. They need some upgrades, but this early in the year players are expensive. (Case in point - had to give up K.C. Hunt just to get the pile of garbage known as Jake Woodford.) Almost every team thinks they are still in it (and don't want to lose 4 months of paying fans thinking they are giving up this early), and if they aren't still in it, they probably don't have many players worth acquiring. Deals will be made, but not likely until the All-Star break. Just have to stay above water until then.
  13. To get quality, you have to give up quality. If the Brewers were to get an impact player or two, but you had to part with two top-10 prospects, which two would you be most willing to part with? Rules - both prospects have to be in the top 10 of at least one of the following lists: Brewerfanatic top prospects MLB top 30 Fangraphs Baseball America You can name the target if you like, but that's optional. You have to name the prospects, and they both need to be in the top-10 of at least one list. And note that the lower ranked prospects you are willing to give up means a lower-impact player you get in return. I'm parting with: Jett Williams - teams value players closer to the majors higher than players below AA. While Jett may be able to help this year, his lack of a defensive home raises questions. I'm sending him for a quality 3B with multiple years of control, but only trading him for a 3B. There's IF help behind him in Pratt, Made, and Pena. Josh Adamczewski - really great overall hitting profile, but if he's only a LF, he's expendable. LF is perhaps the easiest position to find hitters, and the Brewers have Chourio locked up for a long time. (If the Brewers want a top SP, something tells me that Bishop Letson will need to be involved in the deal though.)
  14. 1) In a 162-game season with stretches of 2+ weeks without an off-day, you can't play to win every single game. B) This early in the season you have to overpay for players in trade. Almost everyone thinks they are still in it with a couple of breaks (and they don't want to lose 4 months of paying fans who think they are giving up by early June), and if they don't think they are in it they usually don't have anyone worth trading for. (See: Jake Woodford - we had to give up K.C. Hunt just to get that pile of garbage)
  15. Yes. The $5.5M number is new cash in 2026. There was a ~$6M signing bonus that was part of the $11M.
  16. UW flips 4-star CB Mekhi Williams from Florida State. UW currently sits #15 on 24/7's 2027 class ranking. It appears that concerns about UW's record last year are a bit overblown.
  17. Looks like only $31M guaranteed for Watson in the form of a signing bonus. It's an extension, so it goes into effect after next season. So, the Packers have Watson under contract for a total of 5 years and $116M. They also have Reed and Golden under contract or team control through 2029, essentially locking up the core of their WR room for four more years.
  18. We were talking about a specific situation - last night when Perkins PH for Frelick against Miller (LHP). What I was responding to was the question about why Frelick wasn't left in to try to bunt against a LHP with a 13.0 K/9.
  19. How do you know for sure that he would put a bunt down successfully against a LHP who is averaging 13.0 K/9?
  20. Blake Perkins vs LHP this year: .543 Not great, but a lot better than Sal's .390
  21. Sal OPS vs LHP this year: .390 If he had left him in and he didn't execute, people would be b****ing that they didn't PH for him because he can't hit LHP.
