  1. I think they had called a QB draw, which is why the OL were downfield.
  2. Maybe their toughest challenge yet, but Oregon is only 56th in the nation in rushing yards per game. UW is averaging more rushing yards per game than Oregon. Oregon is 15th in the nation is passing yards per game, but UW is 5th in the nation in passing defense yards per game. Arguably their weakness is also UW's weakness, and their strength is UW's strength. Likely a repeat of Penn State and Alabama where they hang for 3 quarters, but it's about as favorable of a matchup as they can get for playing against the #1 team in the country.
  3. Colorado has played one ranked team so far and lost at home. They also lost to Nebraska, who is 5-4. Strength of schedule is 56th in the nation. Utah today was playing their 3rd or 4th string QB. Give UW their schedule this year and a healthy Van Dyke and they'd be at least 7-2 if not better. I hope Sanders gets hired away by either Florida State or the Cowboys.
  4. Jets' kicker is injured. Jets have a kicker on their practice squad who they elevated last week, but didn't add to the active roster this week. KC signs Jets' kicker from the practice squad to their active roster. Jets need another kicker, signing Anders Carlson, their 4th different kicker in 4 weeks.
  5. Guys his size at the college level are a dime a dozen. And I don't know if he has the straight-line speed; when they did the radar gun speed competition I don't recall seeing him in the top 5 in mph if even the top 10. Add that to all the drops on tape that he has and he might need to run a sub-4.40 to get a look. He'll certainly need to run a sub-6.8 on the 3-cone. To his credit, he's also been playing gunner on special teams - a 5th/6th WR in the NFL will need to play special teams, but I don't know if that's helping or hurting him and physically wearing him down. But overall, I see him as an UDFA/practice squad type at best.
  6. Still can't believe he wasn't drafted that year. Fun fact - he played over 1,600 offensive snaps in the NFL and was never called for holding.
  7. Hey, at least the Bears had the sense to spend a 4th round pick on a punter! (Who's averaging 0.1 ypp more and 3.9 net ypp less than the 2nd year punter the Packers signed as a UDFA.)
  8. Yep, that's the hard part of the system. Takes a while to learn that, and likely is one of the causes of Locke and the receivers often not being on the same page. Having a bunch of transfers trying to be in sync with that might be the root cause of their offensive issues, especially if the transfers came from a system where all they had to do was look over at the sidelines at some guy holding up some cards telling them what to do.
  9. Alex Hornibrook's entire offense went on to the NFL. RB: Jonathan Taylor, Corey Clement, Dare Ogunbowale FB: Alec Ingold TE: Troy Fumagalli, Jake Ferguson WR: Quintez Cephus, Kendrick Pryor OL: Tyler Biadasz, Michael Dieter, Ryan Ramczyck, David Edwards, Cole Van Lanen, Beau Benzschawel, Logan Bruss (Tyler Beach was in camp with the Steelers this year and the Texans last year) Surround Locke with that talent and he'd look a lot better. I don't know if there's one offensive skill position player on the current team who will go on to the NFL, much less eight.
  10. Not from Amazon, but I have from Overstock. Bought it in 2016 and love it. Memory foam with cooling gel, eight years later and no sagging. Looks like they have one from Slumber Solutions for $500-$600 depending on size that is very well reviewed with almost 15K reviews. Think I paid about that much, maybe a little less, back in 2016. Another option - for my guest room bed I bought a cheap 8" firm mattress and topped it with a high quality, firm 3" mattress topper and mattress pad. My guests always comment on how much they like it. Firm with just the right amount of cushion from the topper. Think I paid $200 for the mattress and $150 for the topper, but that was 12 years ago. I'm cautious of Amazon because of how many cheap Chinese knockoff products are on there.
  11. No and yes. Fickell was always their #1 target. But Fickell was luke-warm (pun intended) at first and thus the thought that Leonhard was going to have to be the guy and they told him the job was his. When Leonhard interviewed, he talked too much about how he would keep things the same and not enough about what he would change, and then the lackluster finish. So they went back to Fickell and then Fickell said he's in.
  12. Funny thing, UCLA had a four-man front (4 DL or 3 DL plus a stand up OLB) with three off-ball LBs and eight in the box all night and forced their 3rd string QB to pass and he threw two INTs. And when the QB ran, they actually made it a point to hit him and knocked him out of the game.
  13. Yep, we're looking at a giant 2-3 year pump-and-dump scheme. My financial advisor likes BBB-rated short-term bonds. Right now yielding around 8%. He likes LSYAX from Lord Abbett. I can't get access to that in any of my accounts (Fidelity, Schwab), so I go with FFRHX from Fidelity. Price is flat YTD but yielding 8.4%.
  14. What did he say after that?
  15. You might want to do your own backtracking and reread what he wrote.
  16. That's the problem. The game is won or lost on the line of scrimmage. They got absolutely owned on the LOS the last two weeks, both side of the ball.
  17. How many of them do you foresee playing in the NFL? I don't see a single one except for maybe Mahlman. Nelson and Walker possibly a practice squadder.
  18. If you put Hornibrook on this team - or surrounded Locke with the teams that Hornibrook had - you wouldn't be saying this.
  19. Sure didn't look so today. Or last week. I would say that Locke is bad if he was missing open receivers. I didn't see many open receivers. And if they are open, they drop the pass.
  20. Here's the Bears remaining schedule: @Cardnals vs. Patriots then...
  21. Yep. It took Pleated Khaki Pants four years before his teams started beating ranked opponents (I don't count UW with redshirt freshman Alex Hornibrook at QB as a ranked opponent, and they barely won at home). His 2015 and 2016 teams didn't beat anyone ranked except UW w/Hornibrook at QB at home, and then they went 8-5 in 2017 (and the Florida team that was ranked the first week of the season when they beat them finished 4-7 that year). That's the realistic path, and UW has had a lot more difficult of schedules this year and last year than Pleated Khaki Pants had his first three seasons.
  22. Locke had a few bad throws and one really bad decision, but he was put in a bad situation by a bad play call. As @Joseph Zarr said, when it's 3rd and 14, the OL is getting dominated, and your QB is taking a shotgun snap at the goal line, you run a QB draw, maybe a quick WR screen, and get out of there and don't make it any worse. Locke wasn't good but he wasn't the problem today - it was losing the LOS on both sides of the ball. DL held it's own for a while, but got tired by the 4th quarter. Nowhere for Walker to run - the Badgers aren't going to win with Walker averaging 2.7 ypc. WRs dropping passes or not looking for them. And one of the hardest things to defend is a good backup QB because you aren't game planning for him, if there even is any film on him to prepare with. Honestly, this is what happens when they wear red pants. Bad decision before even getting on the field.
  23. Ohio State almost got caught looking ahead to Penn State.
  24. Prime time under the lights. Nobody thought the Badgers had a chance on 10/16/10 vs. #1 Ohio State, especially with Scott Tolzien at QB. But under the lights at night... While this isn't new news (rumors back in August turned out to be accurate), the media is trying their best to distract James Franklin this week: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41979922/james-franklin-refuses-comment-rape-charges-ex-penn-state-football-players Penn State has Ohio State next week. Will they get caught looking ahead?
  25. I wonder if FG% on grass surfaces decreases as the game goes on. Does the effect of cleats on grass/sod for the duration of the game and the subsequent chewing up of the field affect FG%? I don't disagree with this. But it goes back to what I said earlier - free agent kickers don't want to come to Green Bay (or other outdoor, cold-weather teams). And I don't know that many good kickers get to free agency very often.
