  1. I have seen LaPorta mentioned in the 5 to 10 range by a couple guys in chats. Gamel was mentioned at around 20 or so when a guy was asked what player will make the biggest jump this year. After that is is hard to know because the guys just drafted could get in there too.
  2. bill hall has got to be the worst base runner in baseball. But at least it means he is getting on base if he gets opportunities to get thrown out like that
  3. that was strike three right there. Lets go Riske get him again
  4. wow. i love kendall's defense
  5. i dont like complaining about umps but this guys strike zone is wildly inconsistent already in this game. I don't think Parra has received one borderline call and Olson has received numerous ones. That strike two call to rickie was not close. Hopefully he will be expanding his zone for Manny too, because Manny might need the help to get a little deeper in the game.
  6. Hart had 1 hr in April. He has been hot the past two months.
  7. Ned had a right to argue those calls. That pitch was called a strike on Rickie in the first. Prince is hard to watch field sometimes.
  8. Obviously, we all want to see Braun take a couple more walks. My question is, what does Braun's OBP need to be at for him to be considered elite? For some it may be where he is at now, but for the others what are you looking for? Is .350 good enough or does it need to be above .370? Obviously, this is a hard question and maybe worded wrong, because Braun's OBP right now is driven so much by average, so maybe it is simply what is a reasonable walk per plate appearance? Just wanted to get some of your thoughts.
  9. I am in Winter Park Florida, just outside of Orlando, for the summer and I was wondering what the quality of the The Florida Collegiate Summer League was. I am will probably catch a couple games just for the fun of it, but I thought some of you might have some insight into any players in the league who might be worth watching specifically.
  10. I am surprised with Brantley being considered better than LaPorta but it goes to show how one prospects view can differ from others. Obviously, Brantley has upped his stock but almost every top ten list I have seen put out this year as to top prospects has had LaPorta in it. I am a huge Brantley fan but i wonder how many other scouts would put him ahead of LaPorta. I can see Salome in some ways because if he can't stick at catcher where do you put him? But LaPorta will be able to play OF or 1B so he will be able to find the field.
  11. I agree. I was going to post this earlier. It seems like he has been hit a ton and he has. He has been hit 13 times this years. That seems like a lot.
  12. Did I read somewhere that Katin has the Huntsville record with 25 home runs? LaPorta put out number 19 tonight in game 67. If he does not get moved up he will shatter that record. Braun would have easily set it but he only played 59 games and hit 15 home runs. Prince played 136 games and hit 23 home runs. I know LaPorta is old for that league but that is impressive
  13. I have seen a lot of people blaming a hart miscue on here for the loss. I did not see the game. What happened?
  14. Rough night for Joe Mauer. Two GDP and a K
  15. What did Tim Dillard do to Ned? Four run lead in the 8th seems like a good time for Dillard. I am not trying to complain about Mota, others have made a good argument on that, I just am intrigued by what Dillard brings to the table
  16. I was thinking, man I hope Hart makes him pitch a strike before he swings. I was wrong.
  17. 23rd round pick Marcus Knecht had an article done on him Wednesday in his local paper. article It sounds as if he is not writing off signing with the Brewers but he is definitely aware of the money he could make by going to school and getting drafted higher. It was a good article and he sounds like an intriguing prospect. It would be great to get him in the fold.
  18. People were not really complaining about the Astros having an advantage or anything. The comments were made throughout the game, and a lot of them were made after Corey Hart's last home run where it looked he just reached at the ball and it went out.
  19. Yost made it sound like it wasn't that serious. He will get the day off tomorrow. If he is out for a while boy does that infield look interesting.
  20. The Cubs played well without Soriano before, so I am not expecting this to hurt them a ton. Hopefully, I am wrong, but I think they may see some decrease in offense but not a ton.
  21. Burnett has 2 years at 12 million a year. I think it safe to say he will get a longer deal than 2 years, for much more money than 24 million. I am pretty sure he will opt out.
  22. I was encouraged by the line when he said pro ball player is something he really wants to pursue in regard to if FIU is still on the table. If they can get him in the fold that will be exciting. Maybe we can get the rest of the Canada guys to sign and just start another rookie team full of Canadians. In all seriousness, I am pretty excited by some guys who seemed like tougher signs signing right away.
  23. Luetge is bolded on the official signing page in the draft forum. I was excited when I thought they got him, but it makes since why he would think heavily about returning. He was actually drafted higher a year ago.
  24. No, it has only been 2 games all year I am pretty sure. The Brewers won most almost all of the games Gagne blew.
  25. Tavarez was a guy who was picked up b/c Riske and Gagne went down. Gagne has been bad, so you are right there. Mota has actually been pretty good. He has only given up a run in 4 of his 22 games. His ERA is skewed by a couple terrible outings. Melvin has made some rough moves but the bullpen had been pitching really well, it just seems like Yost does not manage it that well in my mind
