  1. .406. Sogard's OPS with us last year. I am happy for the guy that he is doing well but he was one of the worst hitters ever last year.
  2. At least that keeps Black in the game right? Maybe that should be in blue...maybe
  3. So our Loogy and Albers have been pretty good? Pomeranz had given up runs his last two relief appearances - 5 base runners over one inning. Hader can be good but just isnt right now. It was a short start. Some bad relievers are going to have to pitch Where does Jeffress fit in the equation? So his three scoreless outings make him solid now? He gave up runs the previous 5 outings.

  5. You know it is bad when Devin Williams is being elevated to being one of our best options. 2.2 innings and 7 base runners.
  6. How can you even manage this bullpen correctly? It is so bad right now with it hard to see improvement in sight. Suter seems like a welcome addition because he can at least go multiple innings.
  7. I did forget the zero moves but had Peralta and Burnes in the line with Chacin. 3/5ths of the rotation has been just brutal
  8. And if I remember correctly the Cards rolls have often come against very soft schedules. It is impressive and honestly a little shocking the Brewers are where they are. Imagine the record we would have picked for the Brewers knowing the the following - Chacin has a 5.79 ERA and will likely miss a month plus on the IL. Also, Burnes and Peralta both flame out as starters (and in Burnes case as a reliever). The Brewers are getting -3.2 WAR from 3/5ths of our initial starting rotation - Brandon Woodruff, our ace, has missed a month with injury - Gio and Zach have both missed time - Knebel gets hurt and misses the season - Jeffress falls apart. WAR goes from 3.4 to -0.1 - Hader falls apart after all-star break - We currently have Adrian Houser and Jordan Lyles as our 3 and 4 starters and no 5th starter - Travis Shaw implodes as a hitter - Lorenzo Cain cant hit anymore - Jesus Aguilar becomes at best a singles hitter and ultimately gets traded - SS stays an offensive blackhole - Gandal loses his power for a long stretch All of those things and more and theis team is still sitting with a very real chance to win the division
  9. Obviously we as fans know more than scouts, managers and front office people. I wouldnt rate Grandal that high but I think people on this board are way over the top on how bad his defense is. I have read people who have said when factoring defense he really isnt an improvement on Pina. That is crazy to me. I have also read people say his contract isnt worth how much better than Pina is and I guess that I can see. My biggest issue with Grandal isnt defense (like I said I think it is over-blown here) it is his lack of power over the past couple months. If he is just a guy who walks and gets singles his value isnt great.
  10. Please find somebody with an ERA and FIP under 5 in their last 300 innings the next time you talk about trading away Davies or Anderson or Burnes (much less a combination of them plus prospects to boot). I was really high on Dylan Bundy two years ago but have come around to the idea that the guy just isn't very good. Late bloomer at 27? Definitely could happen. But I'm not trading away anything of significant value in order to find out. I'm sure you would have made a similar statement when Orioles traded Jake Arietta to the Cubs at about the same age during a 7.23 ERA season with a 5 FIP. Bundy has a much higher ceiling than any of the mediocre arms I proposed trading. Sometimes you need to take a chance on talent, rather than cling to guys that are not difference makers, IMO. Does Bundy have that much higher ceiling than Burnes? I mean we are just talking about potential not if it will actually happen so if we are focusing on that I think Burnes is right up there. Bundy has only had one year that was even kind of ok.
  11. I would argue Anderson should be a lock before Davies. I would definitely try to bring Gio back. We should have a lot of young guys in AAA ready to come up. I hope we sign a FA starter but also at least one back of the bullpen guy to go with Hader and Knebel. I still believe our rotation would have been fine if we would have had the bullpen to allow our starters to only have to go 5 innings like last year
  12. Hader actually struggled some in August and September last year, not to this extent, but era in the 4 to 5 range. He is just giving up too many home runs which has been true much of the year
  13. Since the all star break our staff's era is 17th in baseball. Considering what we have had to do pitching wise with all the injuries that feels like a minor win.
  14. If the Brewers hold on to win this they will pull themselves up to being .500 against teams below .500. That is an unfortunate stat. This team could easily be in the division lead if they played well against losing teams
  15. Agreed. I would rather let the rookie go next than Guerra. We know what Guerra can do and it isn't pretty
  16. Don't know......he pitched on Monday right? Yeah he did. Forgot about that. He is cruising though and it is the bottom of the order. I think it is worth trying to steal an inning with our bullpen the way it is
  17. Our other trade deadline pick up had two important innings yesterday as well - not nearly as impressive though
