  1. Why?? Right now they ABSOLUTELY need a starter. Not saying Thor or someone like that, but they absolutely cannot, CANNOT use the "bullpen" approach, or use Wilkerson etc as Chacin's replacement. Not in the middle of a pennant race. That would be downright negligent. Because the Brewers have about 5 holes to fill, and if they’re going to use their very limited amount of resources to try and plug them, I’d rather go and get a guy that is likely to make a significant impact now but won’t command the price that Thor will based on name alone. Diaz is a great opportunity to buy on a bad first half and hope the Mets are dumb enough to under sell on him, which they might be. What are the 5 holes? 2 starters, 2 relievers and a SS? I would say they have 3. They need another starter. They need a another reliever. They need either a starting SS or a utility guy. The bullpen feels a lot more stable with Hauser and Peralta. One more reliever would allow a lot more flexibility and Claudio to be used as just a loogy. Now they may not have the capital to do that but if they got those three pieces I see no reason they couldn't make the playoffs and then when you get there anything can happen
  2. If the Mets got both players for Syndergaard that would be a huge get for them but I really doubt it happens. The Twins need starting pitching. Outside of Berrios they haven't been good. Odorizzi has been really bad lately and the rest of the starters have ERAs over 4.
  3. If you look at the Brewers since the break they are two blown saves from having won each series. They have battled back a lot lately and put themselves in position to win. Giants, Braves, Dbacks, Reds, Cubs is not an easy stretch with how the Giants are playing and the Brewers even with those blown saves are 8-6 so far
  4. Since getting to the Cubs bullpen the Brewers have left the bases loaded in the 6th, scored in the 7th and now have 2 on with one out in the 8th. Need more than one run out of all that
  5. Exactly. Next inning we have Moose, Hiura, Thames and potentially Braun or Aguilar. Very good opportunity to tack on a run for the Crew. Just need the bullpen to hold which seems like a lot to ask
  6. The selling thing makes sense if we get swept this week.end. It we lose 2 maybe. If we win 2 or more there is no way we sell. The real debate is if we lose 2 of 3. If this team found a way to grab a reliever and solid starter they would still be a tough out in the playoffs with woodruff returning
  7. The issue with needing a starting pitcher is there are not many on the market that are significant upgrades and there a ton of teams with needs. Take the Twins for example. They have a lineup that could win a playoff series but their rotation and bullpen have started to show their true colors. They are one more bad Odorizzi start from having just 1 starter with an era under 4. Odorizzi is supposed to be their number 2 but over his last 7 starts his era is 7.99. They have just as big of need as the Brewers and better prospects. I just am trying to figure out what the Brewers would have to offer to get one of the few guys who could actually really improve our team if teams like the twins get in a bidding war
  8. The Brewers lineup right now is starting to look like we all thought it could. Since the break everyone but Grandal and SS have an ops over 800 with Yelich and Hiura above 1000 and braun close. Grandal strikes me as a streaky hitter so he will be fine I think. SS will be our blackhole but very few teams don't have one.
  9. What a game by the bullpen! They have received deserved ridicule but that was impressive
  10. Completely agree. Obviously it was a bad way to lose but we have had a lot of those. I was at the Giants game a week or so back when the team kept fighting back only to keep blowing every lead. Those loses suck. But this team is still in the playoff hunt and will lose a few more games like this and they will win a few games where other fans feel like we do right now
  11. I did say almost everything...and WAR isn’t the God of statistics like everyone makes it out to be. No but it does factor in defense and position someone plays. That is where Bellinger comes out ahead. Now I think Yelich is better but just saying Bellinger has a good argument. I also think Bellinger will fade down the stretch offensively and Yelich wont
