  1. I would be shocked if the Brewers didn't try to bring Gio back too. If Knebel can come back and they can add a couple bullpen arms this rotation could be fine. Part of the reason last year's rotation was better is because they only had to go 5 every time. Also does Hook get any credit for Anderson and Davies' rebounds or Woodruff's jump or even Gio's success. Right now DJ is getting all the credit for Castillo and Gray. Castillo is similar to Woodruff - guys who are young and you could see making a jump and Anderson is similar to Gray.
  2. Right now the Brewers starters have eras ranked 17 (Anderson), 20 (Davies), and 21 (Woodruff) for nl pitchers with over 90 innings -too bad two are on the IL. Gio doesnt have enough innings but would be 13th.
  3. I highly doubt the Brewers go with Pina and someone on the roster. They showed last year with Kratz they dont view Pina as more than a platoon at catcher and they dont seem to believe in Nottingham much. I coulld see them bringing a cheaper player than Grandal but I would be shocked if the catcher position was Pina and Freitas or Nottingham
  4. We have the best one, and he should be starting. Another mistake DS made is giving ten times Pina's contract to Grandal for far worse defense and only and slightly better offense. 127 points in OPS is not slightly better. That is almost like saying Braun's offense is only slightly better than Arcia (139 point difference)
  5. I feel like there is a fairly decent shot that Diaz becomes the only guy I wish we wouldn't have let get away. Brinson seems like a AAAA type guys. Yamamoto has come back to earth and his stuff just doesn't seem good enough to be a guy I really miss. Harrison strikes out a third of his at bats in AAA so I am not expecting a ton there. He could figure it out though
  6. Yes there was. He seemed to pitch well for Atlanta for a while after the deadline
  7. Roark and Desclafani are right around what you would expect. Both had eras over 4.
  8. Weeks? Try months. Since the end of May, Guerra has now given up 20 earned runs in his last 30.1 IP. He has also pitched 4 of the 5 past days which is not nearly the frequency he was being used at earlier in the season. What makes these numbers worse is he had like a 5 inning stretch of giving up no runs so take out that stretch and it is 20 runs in 25ish innings. I would much rather see Pomerantz take the ball and see what might happen
  9. Why do you care so much whether or not Cole Hamels thinks Brewers/Cubs is a rivalry? That is fine you dont care but Hamels obviously said it to rile people up last year. It was obviously a rivalry and he came off like a tool. Also he hadnt been there long enough to know if it was a rivalry.
  10. Overall I think the only people who should be really frustrated with this deadline is people who thought the Brewers should be very aggressive buyers or sellers. They didnt have the ammo though to be really aggressive buyers. People look at the prospects in certain trades and say "these guys were only the 3rd and 5th best guys in so and so's system. We should have beat that." The problem is our 3rd and 5th are probably those teams 10th and 12th. Our farm system just didnt have the pieces to be super aggressive. Those who wanted to aggressively sell had to recognize a team 1 game out of the playoffs (both division and wild card) wasnt going to do that. They ended up doing what most people wanted - making small moves that dont mortgage the future and get a couple controllable players. These werent trades that make huge headlines but after what we saw last night they can really help a team be more competitive.
  11. Weird move. They needed a leadoff type guy.
  12. Pretty common for relievers who are on rehab assignments to start games. Makes it easy to guarantee they get in the game and let's you manage them easier
  13. In other words, assuming that list is accurate, here are the teams NOT included on Greinke’s no trade list: * Atlanta Braves * Miami Marlins * New York Mets * Washington Nationals * Chicago Cubs * Milwaukee Brewers * Pittsburgh Pirates * Tampa Bay Rays * Chicago White Sox * Cleveland Indians * Kansas City Royals * Houston Astros * Seattle Mariners * Texas Rangers That is such a Greinke list. No LA teams. No Yankees. Has the Pirates, Rays, Brewers and Royals.
  14. I like Grisham quite a bit but it feels like some are treating him like a can't miss prospect.
  15. He's no Jordan Yamamoto though. Speaking Yamamoto the hype has slowed a bit as he has struggled his last three starts. Walking too many guys. He isn't giving up many hits though
  16. Poor Stroman. Probably thought he was going to a contender. Instead he ends up with the dysfunctional Mets.
  17. Yelich now leads the nl in batting average, ops, stolen bases (tied) and home runs. He also is in striking distance of rbis runs. All that to say, many thought the second half he had last year was not sustainable, and justifiably so, but he just continues to rake. He is such a complete hitter. His worst month of the year still had an Ops of 935! His other three months are 1.149 or higher
  18. imo…...that is too much! If Ray had 4 years of control, maybe, but I still wouldn't do it. I'd pass if his cost is that high. I agree. That seems like a lot for a guy who hasn't been great
