  1. I am a huge fan of Ryan Braun, but I am really having a hard times seeing this end okay. Please let me be wrong
  2. Braun has never looked like a guy who took steroids. This just makes no sense
  3. If Melvin would have paid him that i would have irate. Even as a Cardinal he only had a .735 OPS to go with his 10 errors in 49 games. I know he made some nice defensive plays but he made some really bad one too. Gonzalez is a better fielder and over the course of the year hit the same as Furcal. Not saying he is better than Furcal but he is a much better value and less of an injury risk
  4. It should have been in blue. I thought the Wade Davis reference wasnt serious either. A guy who is about to get non-tendered for a starter who has been decent to good in the AL East seemed unreasonable
  5. I would rather have Matt Moore but if Davis is all we could get I guess I could go for it
  6. Would love to trade Casey for a bullpen or backup at SS. Green can back up 3B and 2B. If something happened to Gamel maybe Ramirez could slide to 1B and Taylor to 3B. If we get anything helpful for Casey I would be pumped.
  7. Bowden has something on espn (it is actually on insider but they let you read the first part) that says he thinks Ramirez to the Brewers at 3 year 36 million. Not sure if he has any insider info. Says the Tigers, Marlins and Phillies could also be players He also thinks Prince is heading to Texas
  8. Never will be annoyed with the Alcides trade. He helped us get a very good starting pitcher and he is all-glove player. JJ on the other hand was hard to lose.
  9. The Brewers pitching staff rejoices!
  10. I really like this signing. That shows how low my SS expectations have fallen since Hardy's All-star year
  11. He's a great fit for their offense and they have been sending guys to the NBA. I dont think it is slight to Marquette just a question why a guy with that pedigree didnt go to UNC, Kentucky, etc. Marquette sends guys to the NBA as late first or second round picks whereas the other schools sends guys to the lottery. Marquette is a very good basketball school, those other schools are Final Four contenders almost every year
  12. I dont think scouting reports have ever cared about defense. If they did Carmelo wouldnt have been a 5 star. I have no clue why Mayo was so under the radar. Maybe he had other scorers on his team. He did move high schools. Considering his brother is an NBA player you would have thought the buzz for him would have been higher.
  13. Because at the time we were expecting 2 draft picks for a guy who said he didnt want to be a set up man. The odds of him accepting did not seem high at all
  14. I honestly cant fault them for offering arbitration to KRod. He seemed unhappy simply being a set up man. He seemed to have a chance to get a multi-year deal. Would anyone trade for him when they could have just signed him?
  15. Buzz is a great recruiter and Mayo was only a 3 star recruit. Makes no sense watching him play.
  16. Marquette looked much better against Wisconsin than they did against Washington. The Huskies have not been good to start the year with losses to St. Louis and Nevada already. There was very little defense being played. Tons of wide open lay-ups and dunks. Not sure why people are impressed with how Marquette played last night. I actually think Marquette is a top 10 type team but that was not good basketball last night. Marquette is deep. Mayo is going to be a player. He is already the third best player on that team in my mind. He is a very talented player.
  17. Looks like the Phillies are actively pursuing Gonzalez. So if they get him they have Lee, Halladay, Hamel, and Gonzalez. They could have me as their number 5 starter and still be the best in the NL
  18. Ramirez is a worse fielder than Casey? That surprises me. The eyeball test tells me Ramirez is easily better but of course my eyes could be wrong. My thought is if we can get Gonzalez at SS and Ramirez at 3B our fielding and hitting improve at both positions (although I guess I could be wrong about fielding)
  19. What is everyone willing to go for Jimmy Rollins? It seems like the Brewers have serious interest and are talking to him again at the meetings. I would rather not sign him to anything longer than a 3 year deal. He wants 5. Not sure how I feel about 4. He is going to be an upgrade over Yuni but I am not sure what he is expecting for a contract
  20. And because their all big-10 first team point guard and best player picked up a horrible 4th foul on an awful, awful call and had to sit for nearly 10 minutes. This too. That was such a terrible call. The Marquette player was obviously moving and it should have been a 3 point play attempt. Instead Taylor is out for 10 minutes. There were a lot of bad calls but that was worst of all of them
  21. Poorly reffed game all around. Marquette is deep this year. They were able to win without Crowder doing much. Mayo is a talented young player. He will be their number one scoring option next year. The Badgers lost because they could not control the boards. Marquette didnt shoot well but they got a ton of offensive boards
  22. This is probably one of Marquette's best teams under Buzz. They only lost Jimmy Butler from last year and have Jamil Wilson who transferred in and Todd Mayo who looks good as a freshman. They Johnson-Odom and Crowder as their senior leaders and primary scorers. The Big East is down this year and Marquette should be thinking top 3 in that conference. They lose a lot after this year so it is a big year for them. I am guessing Johnson-Odom and Crowder will provide well over 50% of their scoring once the conference season starts and the bench shortens
  23. I think it could be a much longer rebuild then people realize. That farm system is not good. They dont have young starting pitching outside of Garza. Their relief pitching is a struggle with Marmol and others. They need a new 1B, 3b, RF, LF and probably CF since Byrd probably doesnt have a ton left. Going forward they are a plus as SS with Castro. They are decent at catcher with Soto and 2B with Barney. But outside of that what do they have at our near the MLB level? Back to Ramirez I would love him for 2 years. Vastly upgrades our offense and defense at 3B. Shouldn't have to be a super long-term deal. Gives us a solid top of the lineup. Find a SS who can field and our starting pitchers would be loving life
  24. I dont know. While I would like to see them post up more at one point in the second half they had more points in the paint than UNC, so it wasnt like they never got inside. Berggren is the only guy with a post game but he was actually better taking his guy off the dribble. They shot a lot of threes but they were really good looks for the most part. They had so many shots rim out Wednesday night. What I love about this years team is even when the 3's are not falling they can still keep it close. Their defense looks much improved from last year.
