  1. I'm not sure where to post this, so this seems like a good place. If anybody has the ear of somebody with the Brewers, can you please, PLEASE ask them to show the exit velo for more than 1.2 seconds after it is hit off the bat? Was at the game tonight and my frustration was rekindled. Sure, I am probably a bit of a nerd when it comes to that, but they show it on the big board and right away show the scoring, or replace it with something else. Sure, they put it on the ribbon board at the ends in the nice neon font, but then have to show the box score right away. I would rather watch Frelick's ball go out of the park, or hope that Ortiz's rocket was actually fair instead of look at the scoreboard right away. I remember being at Arizona and they had a lot of different metrics -- maybe too much for me, but I could see the exit velocity if I wanted to. Oh... then perhaps they could get the exit velo to appear somewhere on the bottom ribbon on the FanDuel broadcast. Sigh... it is probably must me ☹️
  2. We were at the game and I saw 101 for Megill. I don't remember him hitting 101 this year at all.
  3. Would CJ Abrams from Washington cost too much? Looking for something to light a fire under the ss position. I'm not as familiar with the prospects... Boeve + KC Hunt for Abrams?
  4. I know for a fact that Giannis drives himself. Kris Middleton and others did, too. They drive through Chick-fil-a in Glendale.
  5. He is the type of person that epitomizes what Wisconsin fans desire. Spent his entire career with one team Seems like an ordinary guy -- someone who you can hang out with at the local Friday fish fry Works very hard Appreciates where he is in life Cares about the team I know the phrase, "There is no crying in baseball," was only from a movie. But sometimes, I think it has been an unwritten rule. Woodruff shows that baseball is more than a game -- it is a part if his life. It involves not only the success on the bump, the the quality of the relationships and fellowship within the clubhouse. The latter is extremely difficult to quantify because it does affect how players play. Let's call it the Clubhouse Factor Coefficient (CFC+). I would guess the CFC+ of the Brewers is 120 😉 Brandon -- win or lose, I'm glad you are a Brewer.
  6. True. However, I am not thrilled with how the Track and XC teams are being displaced with the Shell being replaced. It doesn't seem like there was not much consideration (unless things have changed in the last few months). Football is king. They bring in the most amount of money. It appears that facilities are being created exclusively for football. With the shell replacement, I could see soccer and softball being able to use it for training, but not much else. I'm afraid that with the new economics, other sports such as swimming and wrestling might be on the chopping block. If the goal is to get teams to Omaha every year, then I agree. There are plenty of D3 teams that are successful playing in the cold. Wisconsin-Whitewater won the D3 championship this year. MSOE, Beloit, UW-Oshkosh, and UW-LaCrosse also earned a birth. Yes -- D3 is different than D1. I only have minimal experience with one of those schools and the regular season crowds were mostly comprised of families and friends -- nothing that could support a program by itself. Those teams survive by a lot of fundraising. Softball, for that matter, doesn't have a problem playing in the cold in Wisconsin -- they just schedule games in warmer climates early in the year. While I agree cold weather is not ideal, I believe a D1 team could survive in Wisconsin.
  7. From the article: Yikes!!!! Was he traded to the Cubs? 😉
  8. The Brewers won't be consistent enough to win the central, but I think they can put together a good (or great) pitching staff to do much better in the playoffs. Make sure the arms aren't tired and the playoffs will be more successful.
  9. You beat me to it. I tried to walk on at Wisconsin, but to no avail. They dropped the program before I graduated, so it worked out for me, I suppose. 😉 This is probably for a different thread, but I would say Wisconsin is not going to have a baseball program any time soon. There are two factors working against them: The new NIL format Chris MacIntosh You will see more programs being dropped before one is added. There has been support for Badger Baseball for years with money, land, etc. It is too much of a money suck for the University.
  10. I saw a suggestion on the local news last night: Sign Chris Paul That would be interesting if you could get him on the cheap. He would give more PG experience. He hasn't won a championship and I think playing with Giannis would be great for him. That is if he can get pulled from the West Coast...
  11. We will see how he bounces back. Hopefully he stays focused and takes it in stride.
  12. I'm thinking it is a derivative of Moneyball. You don't have to hit the ball 115 mph to be successful. You don't have to have a launch angle of 33 degrees to be successful. Find that makes the player successful and build upon that. Brice Turang had an interview on a podcast a few years ago. He said, "[It is very unlikely] that I will mishit a home run." Get him to hit the ball to all fields. Yes... get him to hit the ball harder, but don't mess up the thing that makes Brice Turang Brice Turang. The pitching lab is a great example, too. Take what a pitcher does well and augment it. Finally, get high-character guys in the clubhouse. This not only includes hard work, but lifting each other up on and off the field. Adames exemplified that last year. It seems like they are doing the same thing this year. If I ever had a chance to talk to Hoskins, Frelick, or any of the Brewers, I think I would talk more about the team aspect of things than the baseball side of things. I don't know if that makes sense or not. I just enjoy this team.
  13. Ok... I'm poking the hornet's nest... How about Keston Hiura? 😉
  14. It is probably just me, but he seems to throw a little "weird." It is probably the second-baseman-mechanics that I'm not used to. It also seems that he throws the ball slower. However, he is 23rd among third basemen at an average of 82mph. The stats don't lie. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/arm-strength?type=player&year=2025&minThrows=50&pos=arm_3b&team=&sortColumn=arm_3b&sortDirection=desc
  15. Maybe Tommy Pham could be pitching in a blowout and hits Willson Contreras who subsequently charges the mound. Yeah... that's the ticket.
  16. Yeah, but let's not jump off a cliff if he has a bad outing. I was talking to Mrs. Samurai on our walk and asked, "When do you think they will have the downturn that is inevitable?" I think I spend too much time on here because as as Priester was pitching, I was thinking, "Yup... bad trade, huh?" The numbers didn't show it was a good trade to start out with... or maybe questionable. We all know that all Brewers minor league prospects come up and have a WAR of 10 in their first at bat... 😉 I think it goes to show that the Brewers pitching methodology (coaching, lab, etc.) works. Nobody can question that. Also, kudos to the scouts for seeing something.
  17. The only thing I found was how many home runs were hit during the year by world series champions. The 2015 Royals hit 139, the Giants hit 132 in 2014 and 103 in 2012 (wow). There are some others that were between the 100 and 150 mark since 1990. I agree that the majority of teams pound the ball better than the Brewers. I don't know how many of the teams below were young, though. I asked Copilot to help come up with a list of WS Champs and the number of regular season home runs since 1990. I tried pasting it into the message but it looked weird. So, here is a picture 🙂
  18. You do understand he was / is a cyborg, right? 😉 He had a special knack for punchin' dowgies (I mean Robin Ventura).
  19. Not sure if this is in another thread. I haven't noticed this until now. Statcast has their own version of the gamefeed now... https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=6/25/2025&gamePk=777361&chartType=pitch&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=vizcast&sportId=1&liveAb=#777361
