  1. I'm surprised the reporter didn't ask, "Is that a pancake in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?" 🤪
  2. I friend of mine bought NVDA back in the early 2000's. He liquidated two years ago and is now building a house on the shores of Lake Michigan. That wasn't his only awesome investment, though. We got in before one of the last few splits. It also helps that I like NVDA because they give a lot of grants, etc. to MSOE -- where my son attends college.
  3. I'm not sure about the NBA being completely up front. There are times where players could have played through injuries but chose not to for the benefit of the entire season. LeBron and Giannis had done this recently. I was always wondering how HIPAA plays into this. From what I understand, there are exceptions to HIPAA related to professional athletes. Maybe I need to go to LawyerGPT to find out. 😉 I'm viewing it as thinking of the season as a whole and trusting the players you have. Fortunately, the Brewers are playing one of the worst teams in the league, so forcing Chourio to sit for a bit (and resting Sal, too) wouldn't be too detrimental. It also gives the staff an opportunity to those who don't play much to actually play. Fortunately they have backup players that are playing in their regular position (I am still bitter about Bauers being a sieve in Left Field at one of the games I attended). My hope is that this doesn't put them into some type of tailspin. If they do, then I'll certainly criticize them for poor management. For now, though, continue to rake, push bunt to the second baseman, and get runners on base. Make the pitchers uncomfortable. Go Crew!
  4. I, too, was disappointed. I'm viewing it more as separating the wheat from the chaff. Unfortunately, McGee did not perform well. I also understand that with a huge lead, you need to fill the zone. Still, it isn't BP.
  5. For those of you not aware, the blue font represents sarcasm... This is fake news. There is no way this happened because the only way the Brewers can score runs is by having players like Suarez in the lineup. Be better OptaStats!
  6. Get him in the pitching lab for a little bit and have him develop the patented Brewers cutter / sinker combo. I know it takes longer than a few weeks, but a little work here and there wouldn't hurt.
  7. I turned it off after it was 8-3 in the 8th. Mrs. Samurai had mentioned there were snowmen by each team. MLB had the full 8th inning posted on YouTube. Crazy!
  8. Baseball Savant says, "D'oh!"
  9. ... for prospects or cash? 😂
  10. I talked to a client that is a huge D'Backs fan today. He is not happy, either, but understands why it is being done.
  11. Make a splash: MIL gets Gunnar Henderson BAL gets Tobias Myers, Chad Patrick, Cooper Pratt DFA Montestario. Would that could be considered all in? Not sure... 😉
  12. It is also sarcasm... hence the blue font.
  13. Yeah... but they didn't go "all in!"
  14. You know what would be cool? If Greg Vaughn came back and handed over the key to "Vaughn's Valley" to Andrew Vaughn... Something like this...
  15. <thread hijack> ... so is Priester 😉 </thread hijack>
  16. I asked my friend CoPilot to show me a financial comparison between the Brewers and the Dodgers. I don't think there is a ledger that shows expenses for travel, minor league clubs, scouts, etc. ⚾️ 2024 Financial Comparison: Brewers vs. Dodgers Category Milwaukee Brewers Los Angeles Dodgers Team Valuation $1.7 billion $6.9 billion Revenue $335 million $752 million Operating Income $24 million $21 million Player Expenses $172 million $349 million Gate Receipts $97 million $277 million Payroll (Adjusted) ~$125 million ~$266 million Revenue Sharing Paid N/A $150 million Luxury Tax Paid N/A $103 million 🧠 Key Takeaways The Dodgers generate more than double the revenue of the Brewers and spend twice as much on player salaries. Despite that, the Brewers had higher operating income, showing strong efficiency for a small-market team. The Dodgers paid $253 million in combined luxury tax and revenue sharing, which is more than the Brewers’ entire payroll. The Brewers’ win-to-player cost ratio was 134, meaning they outperformed relative to payroll. The Dodgers’ was just 84. Here are the two clubs compared against the league average: 📊 2024 MLB Financials Comparison Metric Milwaukee Brewers Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Avg per Club Team Valuation $1.7 billion $6.9 billion ~$2.7 billion Revenue $335 million $752 million ~$403 million Operating Income $24 million $21 million ~$20 million Player Payroll ~$125 million ~$266 million ~$173 million Gate Receipts $97 million $277 million ~$127 million Sponsorship Est. $45 million Est. $90 million ~$63 million Attendance ~2.3 million ~3.8 million ~2.37 million 📉 Teams with Operating Losses in 2024 New York Mets: Lost an estimated $292 million, largely due to massive payroll and luxury tax penalties San Diego Padres: Reported a $113 million loss, following aggressive spending and underperformance Oakland Athletics: While exact numbers aren’t confirmed, their low revenue and relocation uncertainty suggest they likely operated at a loss

  18. I did not read the article -- I went with what was in the Tweet: Looks like I got sucked in by looking at the headlines and not reading the article. My bad... After looking at the article, here is a key piece of information I did not see by not reading the article: After reading the article, it is something I cannot relate to. I don't know what it is like to be a billionaire or a millionaire. I don't know what it is like to bust your butt and get to the show, have your picture on magazine covers, and be (at times) the face of the league. Harper seems like a jack wagon, IMHO. Castellanos has earned my respect by being willing to listen. It is too bad it costs me $15.95 for a long island iced tea at Am Fam field. Blame it on the owners, or the players. Both are to blame... if there is blame to go around.
  19. Which part? Staying out of the clubhouse or the salary cap? I agree whole heartedly with the Commissioner staying out of the clubhouse.
  20. Did Frelick get hurt again? I suppose the decision was to start Collins over Frelick because... (?)
  21. @TURBO has a lot of movies to trade... 😉
  22. This isn't fantasy baseball. Go ahead and play this game and it might help a little: https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/out-of-the-park-baseball-home/ By the way, I think this guy might be waiting for his world series victory since the Padres didn't sit on their hands...
  23. I'm sure there are some, but I have a feeling there are some that want to win. Just because the Brewers don't have a huge salary doesn't mean they don't care. We hear, "Get [Player X]! Wait.. but don't 'overpay!'" The Brewers can afford a rental and the reason they don't go after [Player X] is because they are cheap asses! Perhaps payment is a little bit different than Dollars -- teams want players, too. I wish it were as easy as piling on the owners saying they are only worried about profit. It is not that easy.
  24. I thought it was funny how BA and Rock were talking about how disciplined the Marlins were. Fill the zone and give them some backwards K's. Peralta and Quintana picking at the corners and couldn't get the Marlins to chase. Wait... Peralta had one of his "wild" games. Bounce back tomorrow, boys...
