  1. Sounds like Fubo might be in the running... https://awfulannouncing.com/local-networks/main-street-dazn-deal-dead-fubo-rumored-new-bidder-nba-nhl-prepare-shutdown.html
  2. I would like to see a history on the ballparks / stadiums in Milwaukee. My late father knew the Borcherts, but that was after the stadium was removed and the Braves played at old county stadium. I don' t know where the old Milwaukee Brewers played before they became the Orioles.
  3. McManus makes the kicks and it is a different story. Period. LaFleur is not the issue here.
  4. There was a timeout in the first half where Gard must have ripped them a new one. The next trip down the floor, the Badgers were moving the ball around the perimeter (mentioned by the play by play team) and stepped it up on defense. That was the turning point. Different people stepped up for sure. Sure, Bieliauskas hit a bunch of 3's in the second half and that was HUGE. However his defense on Mara might have been even more of a factor. Yes... he got played at the beginning of the game. As time went on, Mara was not as much of a factor as I thought he would be. I do believe the refs did have an impact on the game, but probably not in the way that we might expect. When the Badgers started to play more aggressively in the first half, I was expecting the zebras to be blowing the whistles a lot. That didn't happen. In the second half, there were more "nickel-dimers" that were called along with swallowing the whistle on some obvious Michigan fouls. The Badgers just scored. Like we said earlier this week -- if they hit their threes, they can beat anybody. Also, there wasn't as much standing around on offense. There was more movement on the five-out... and maybe less of the five-out. I hope the Badgers can keep up the momentum. Everyone drink to the first quad 1 win of the year!
  5. Harlan is one of the best in the business and Raftery is a trill to hear behind the mic (at 82 years young!). Hummel on the other hand... he just simply doesn't like Wisconsin. You could hear it during the UCLA game, too.
  6. I think the moneyball reference is a great one. I think Wisconsin's new philosophy is: Wisconsin doesn't have much talent, so I'll use the "300-mile radius" plan to recruit players If there are some Wisconsin kids that have pride in their school, that is great, but that won't be our primary focus Money talks and that is what will bring in quality players. I am still skeptical. You still need to have a coach that is going to connect with these players. From what the reddit thread said, Fickell needs to work on that. Also, not every player is perfect so how is the coaching staff going to help the players improve? I was a little surprised that Hilton decided to come back. Maybe that is a sign. I certainly hope that they turn things around. I have scars from my days in the band from '87 - '90. Some of those scars were ripped open this year. It would be cool if Fickell said, "I know a lot of people have not renewed their season tickets. If I were you, I would get them now because we are turning this ship around." This would mimic Alvarez's quote. I hope it works.
  7. If the Badgers hit their 3's, they can stay on the floor and, maybe, beat anybody. The problem is they cannot hit their 3's consistently. What I saw may times last night was a 5-out, then have somebody go and touch the block while everybody else is standing around. Then Nick Boyd gets anxious and starts dribbling around. I'm sure I'm completely missing it, but the inside game is non-existent. It is also to the point where if somebody drives, there is no plan. The only creativity is to dribble to the elbow or maybe the block, kick it out and toss up a three. Wash, rinse, repeat. Perhaps it can be said better like this -- go through the set once (swing, hit the post, etc.). If that doesn't work (maybe 18 seconds left on the shot clock), forget the set and start jacking up threes. Again... great when it works, but terrible when the 3's aren't falling. Also, I know I am being a bit hyperbolic... 😉
  8. A House of Dynamite on Netflix. Lots of stars and a very cool concept, but the ending... 🤔 If you saw it, you know what I'm talking about.
  9. I think Mark Cuban helped out in recruiting... a little.
  10. I might have said this at some point in this thread (29 pages... and growing), but I find it very, very funny that many people who are having issues with NIL were adamant about college players getting paid. What did we think was going to happen? Yeah, athletes put in "extra time" to benefit the university. The university gets all of the profits and what do the athletes get? Pfft... just free education, free tutoring, training table, clothes, and a lot more. The student who works extra hours to get a good grade or actually helps get research grants (university gets "all the profits") doesn't get a free education, free tutoring, training, etc. All I know is kids don't go to a school to participate in a sport and have pride in the school. In the past, Wisconsin kids don't come to Wisconsin -- they go to Indiana because they get paid more and, well, their program is much much better. I'm just bitter.
  11. Yovani Gallardo?
  12. I would like to see the Badgers beef up the OL, too. That seems to have been one of the core issues for the past three years.
  13. It seems like the Badger guards will dribble into trouble, panic, and then jump pass into no-man's land. I was getting very frustrated with the TOs in the first half. I didn't seen the Nova game. I don't know if it was the same thing causing them to have 16 TOs in that game or not.
  14. Sounds like "promotion" like in soccer. That would give them incentive but might also pull in recruits from the Transfer Portal if they know they will be in the tourney next year. There would probably have to be some type of limits put on it, though. The team would have to be in the top 25 next year if they win the tournament this year as an example. You wouldn't want a 3-8 team in the First-Division Tournament 😉
  15. Thanks, Jim. Last time I had seen him, I had mentioned that. Thank you for reminding me... and encouraging me.
  16. I found out yesterday that a friend of mine from high school who was about 2 years my junior died of a heart attack. I would see him once in a while in person and chat. I don't spend a lot of time on Facebook. I looked on Facebook and saw there was a friend request from him from a few months ago. Wow...
  17. Tulane and James Madison got their lunch handed to them. Not a surprise at all. Notre Dame was probably better than either of them.
  18. DraftKings or Caesar's would push for something like this. We all know that Notre Dame wouldn't lower themselves to such standards. They are much better than that.
  19. Una Vajagic enters the portal. A little surprised, but they have a lot of talent coming in.
  20. In game 1, the passes to the setter were spot on. In game 2, the Badgers started beating themselves with a bunch of service errors. After that, Kentucky served better / Wisconsin wasn't able to pass as well. That didn't give the setter many options. Kentucky set up their block more consistently when Wisconsin wasn't as consistent. Kelly Sheffield has a very, very good thing going at Wisconsin. It is certainly fun to watch, although sometimes on TV, they use terms that it took me a while to learn. Perhaps a drinking game? "Out of system!" --- Drink! "Overpass" -- Drink! Sheffield and Mark Johnson (Women's hockey) have built a great legacy for women's sports at Wisconsin.
  21. Interesting article on Milwaukee freeway history: https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/milwaukeefreewayhistory
  22. Wasn't he part of the Thuggee tribe? You know, Mola Rom?
  23. Broadcom (AVGO) down 11% today even though they had impressive earnings. Ouch. The 5Day chart looks the same for NVDA. Tied at the hip they are....
