  1. Now it is going to be "this broadcast of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball presented by Potawatomi Bingo Casino game is brought to you by Kohl's"
  2. What are the rules for the minor league phase. Is it the same pool of guys as the major league phase and do they need to stay AAA or AA all year too? Thanks.
  3. What's DM suppose to say they want to trade Hardy to get Escobar on the team, that he plans to sign a 3B and Hall is basically a spare part now. Other GMs will read this and offer a bag of balls for each. He has to play it close to the sleave otherwise he is at a disadvantage.
  4. Except the offer and ask are done blindly so the Brewers will have no idea if Boras is asking for 11 million or something less. You offer what you feel is fair.
  5. blatzlight is right about getting a 2nd battery. I finally did after twice running out of battery on vacations - once in the everglades and the 2nd time at San Diego Wild Animal Park. Somehow it was my duty to make sure it was fully charged and my S.O. failed to inform me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Good stats but not HOF worthy. I am still in shock that he pitched 18 years. It is so good to be a lefty pitcher.
  7. I was there last summer and found it disappointing except for the art museum which has entire rooms from old castles and stuff (plus you can run the stairs ala Rocky). The liberty bell and independence hall are nice but it seemed like all the other historical buildings were closed or private buildings so I enjoyed Boston more. At the intersection of 9th and Passyunk are the 2 biggest cheesesteak places. We (and alot of others that were there) went to both and split meals to compare. Don't go down to the river park/landing - we walked like 10-15 blocks to get there and there was nothing there.
  8. I prefer calling the WC the #1 Loser instead of 4th best. But since I spent $35 on a WC hat, the team can spend a few hundred for a banner. Why not since it's been 26 years.
  9. I just came back to work after 2 weeks in Hawaii on my honeymoon. It took about 18 seconds to realize that without work I would be alot happy person.
  10. I said in April all I wanted was the playoffs. Anything else is gravy and I feel the same way today. There are 8 teams playing baseball after tomorrow (unless the White Sox lose today and then its today) and the Milwaukee Brewers are one of them. I am thankful that is finally true.
  11. That's not how it was suppose to end.
  12. If IT happens tomorrow, how special is it that Ben Sheets will possibly be the winning pitcher. You can talk all about his injuries, etc. but when he is on, he is one of the best. I still get goose bumps thinking about his 18 K game. And believe one day I will see him pitch a no-hitter. I moved to the Chicago area 13 years ago and during the early years I remained a Brewer fan but without internet, the MLB package it was hard to follow the team and by early July it was time to focus on the Packers. Benny became my favorite Brewer before he was officially a Brewer. His gold medal winning game in the Olympics had me excited for the 2001 season. He lived up to the early expections despite being on not so good teams. When he signed the long term contract I was finally excited that the Brewers were going to turn it around and build around their ace. A few days after the signing I purchased my first Brewer jersey, a #15 Sheets. Now he has reached the end of that contract and nobody knows what the future holds. But tomorrow I hope the fans show Benny what he means to Milwaukee. I was there for the Jenkins sendoff and this should be no less. I will be at the game and hope the other 40 some thousand share in the appreciation for #15. Lets go Brewers!
  13. I had my music playing randomly at work and Desperado was playing when I read this post. How crazy is that?
  14. Is that really something you want out there for the whole wide world to see? My six are: Sports nicknames Seinfeld Math US History post 1900 Pixar movies John Grisham
  15. i was half-surprised that we'd have even one person on this board who'd have the job to know that smell. go figure there's a second person on here. Mine was not job related but the dude living in the apt. below me drank his bad liver to death and wasn't found for about a week. And it took at least another week for the smell in the hallway to go away.
  16. I second that as being the worst. Nothing is even close.
  17. I found out that JJ stood for James Jerry and Jerry, as a nickname, just seemed odd as a middle name. So I made the middle name Jerome and used the nickname Jimmy for the first name. Now when I cheer for JJ at games I use "Jimmy Jerome" too.
  18. It's way too early and way too much can happen between now and the end of September (rainouts, etc.) to worry about this now. That being said, if we are playing for a playoff berth and need CC and Benny on Sat and Sun they need to pitch and Ned and Maddax will worry about the playoff rotation after they clinch. If we have clinched I would assume they make some adjustments so that CC and Benny pitch games 1 and 2.
  19. Not from a message board but a co-worker of my fiance sent a long explanation of why the brewers were swept by the obviously superior cubs last week. It too long to post the whole thing (3 pages) but here are some of the best parts: Although, the Cubs four game sweep of their rival Milwaukee Brewers may have come as a shock to most baseball fans, it should not come as a surprise to long time observers of this Chicago Cubs team. In previous "statement" series against the Cardinals, Rockies and Diamondbacks, the Cubs dominated their opponents. Furthermore, since Aramis Ramirez's walk-off homer to cap a five-run comeback in Wrigley in July last year, the Cubs have beaten the Brewers every time they have needed to. The results of this series have re-enforced this dominance. Dave Bush - Not nearly as good as the top two or even Parra. Ryan Braun - An elite hitter, near Albert Pujols level. However, his defense is not even at a Triple A level. He had trouble against the Cubs right-handers, who gave him a lot of inside fastballs. His defense was so bad, it caused game 2 to be a blow-out. He needs to be moved to 1st base which is currently occupied by…… Prince Fielder - He had a statistically good series (6-13, 2HRs) However, most of his hits came long after the game was decided. Lost his cool at the end of the series. He is also terrible defensively and is better suited as a DH in the American League. Caused more problems for the Cubs than Braun. They Cubs usually pitched around him. Mike Cameron - An above average fielder. He is asked to do too much because he plays between two defensive liabilities in Hart and Braun. Jason Kendall - Below average defensively and barely major league quality offensively. The Cubs ran wild against him this series. They stole 3rd base three times on Kendall!. He also was caught stealing in game 3 which was a turning point in that game. The Brewers are in desperate need of an upgrade at this position and should have made a trading deadline move for one. National League Contenders that are better than the Brewers: Chicago Cubs National League Contenders equal to the Brewers: Florida Marlins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies National League Contenders that are worse than the Brewers: Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, St. Louis Cardinals Prediction: 91 wins NL Wild Card. 1st round loss to Marlins
  20. Wow surprising only because I didnt realize he was still in the majors.
  21. You are correct SF, I just assumed it was a get away day game.
  22. If they go 7-0 on the road....I can't even imagine it. Me thinks that work will not be as productive tomorrow afternoon. Go Sheeter!
  23. Classic, how do you guys think Shea Stadium feels this morning?
