  1. I would support both of these trades. I get the “bites of the apple” approach, which gives us a ton of playoff appearances, but we just have not had enough offense over the past decade when it matters. looking back, it seems like a no brainer to have traded Burnes for Machado. I hate the guy, but we probably win the NL Pennant that year if we make that trade. Burnes was a good player for us and won a Cy Young, but I don’t think we won a single playoff game with Burnes 2019+
  2. Harrison only has 4 years of team control left after this year, or are you saying that we’d give him a boost immediately this season? if he continues this trajectory, he’s probably looking at: 2027: $1M 2028: $5M arby 1 2029: $10m arby 2 2030 $20m arby 3 i would think we’d need to go 30/30 for the FA years to get him interested… so that would be 6/96 at a minimum IMO i’d put my priority for extensions: 1) Made 2) Harrison 3) Patrick… I’d also love one with Miz, Wild Bill, and Turang, but those opportunities have probably passed
  3. Alright gents, I’m sold. Looks like we have four more years of control after 2026. Any possibility we could sign Kyle to an extension that gives him security in exchange for maybe buying out 2 years of FA? that would make him 30 at the end of a 6 year deal. He did have a $2.5 million signing bonus from the Giants back in 2020, so that maybe works against us, but would love to lock him and Miz up together for the next 5-6 years.
  4. I was really pissed when we traded Durbin, but this trade looks amazing thus far.
  5. Same. This is awesome. I feel bad for cubs fans actually, I don’t. Hopefully they like Curt Console and his bullpen management.
  6. I think this is a good comparison and I hope history repeats itself
  7. I know there is variability in relief pitching, but given he’s shown success in 2 years, I’d be in favor of giving Patrick that “Ashby contract”. he turns 28 this year and we have him under control through 2031 (Age 33), but that would be a goodwill gesture that allows us to use him in the most valuable way to the team. We could do arby year to year, but most players (rightfully so) once they’ve established themselves as MLB calibur players become more focused on counting stats and workload that will yield more favorable figures in Arby and/or FA Given inflation… maybe offer a 5 year/$30 million extension with a team option for a 6th year/buyout? given he’s already 28, he might be a good candidate to lock up with “life changing” money.
  8. You make a great point about the increased value for shut down relievers that can give you multiple innings (the original Hader) as a result of May starters only going 5 innings or 2 times through. while we like To joke about Ashby pitching in 100 games, realistically, clubs will need more multi-inning arms if we’re looking to cover 4-5 innings every game from the bullpen. i just hope if we go this direction, Patrick doesn’t revert to a Hader and insist on one inning. He is clearly more valuable when we have flexibility. Maybe we could give him a multi-year deal/guarantee that would express that value?
  9. Love the success that the Brewers are having. While I’m excited about Patrick becoming a “go to guy” in the bullpen, I worry that we’re not leaving ourselves the best possible 5 options for the rotation. With QP still finding his way back and Woody not likely part of the future plan (next 3-5 years), do we really have 5 better starter options than Patrick? Miz and Harrison are in there for sure. QP if healthy should be there. That leaves Henderson, Sproat, Drohan, Gasser, Crow (if not Patrick) for the final 2 spots. given how well he pitched for us last year and so far this year, I feel Patrick has proven more than any of the other 5 guys. why not keep Patrick on the rotation and use guys like Sproat and Gasser in the bullpen for now? as we all know, pitching depth is vital and all the guys should get a shot, but it just feels to me like Patrick has earned his spot. go Brewers! Sweep the scrubs
  10. I miss Collins and Durbin every game. I also realize Durbin is struggling on Boston. Maybe he just played better here with a different culture.
  11. I forgot we had Vaughn available. Almost wish we would have used him instead of Rengifo with two on and 1 out earlier, but I guess this works
  12. Fair…. But we’re about going to be approaching the 1/3 of the way mark. It would be nice to give the kids a shot and chance to get established before we go bargain hunting in late July.. plus, every win we get now puts us in a better position for the playoff stretch run.
  13. Agreed. That trio needs to go. If we’re 15 games under .500 and the kids aren’t ready I understand. actually, I don’t. In a winning franchise, washed vets don’t get repeated chances. Let the young guys play
  14. Where did I call him worthless? Relax. just saying, we are three years in from acquiring him as the headliner for an elite player and he hasn’t played meaningful baseball for us. at 26 and still rehabbing, maybe he’s got time yet to still be a solid piece. When we acquired him I think the hope was that he could be a top line starter. I hope that happens, but seems less and less likely.
  15. 2 ducks on the pond… bit opportunity here boys. Good to see Hamilton pulled, but sobering that our best options is Rengifo. i know in the trade/waiver thread we talked about not a lot of help available on the left side around the league… but yikes. i know Durbin is off to a rough start with Boston, but I’m secretly hoping he gets released and the Brewers can snag him back
  16. Good to see Sal with a couple hits today. Hopefully he can get going
  17. Sounds good. Sorry for the hyperbole. Hope he can put it together
  18. He was up in 2024 before being an optioned wasn’t he? Or did that not count as an option because of his injury?
  19. His longtime lead assistant on the other hand, great guy.. i’ve run into Armando a handful of times since my college days.
  20. So down to 1 after we option him back tomorrow. made someone we can deal to get some left-side help on the infield.
  21. I agree with that. The guy has won 3 national titles and UWW has become a powerhouse. That said, not a guy I’d want to have a beer with. 20 years ago at UWW, the guy had a reputation and not a good one. But I’d imagine that is true for most athletes and coaches… very talented but not pleasant people.
  22. He’s got to be running out of options though, isn’t he? I get that lefty pitchers take time to develop, but he’s closing in on 30
  23. UW-Whitewater just eliminated from NCAA playoffs. Tough break for a team expected to do some damage at the World Series. Shows how important matchups can be though.
