  1. His acquisition might make Jim Powell's head explode, which is a risk I wouldn't care to take. I still have not heard JP refer to him on air as anything other than "Meltdown Bradley," and how long ago was that outburst?
  2. Oh, indeed, I'd forgotten Thanksgiving is later in November this year. I'll hope for December 5-6, then, as I rarely get the weekend after Thanksgiving off work.
  3. OK, it was a nice day for a drive, so we ventured out to MP this afternoon. The Octoberfest logo is available on two shirts: a short-sleeved navy for $30.00 and a long-sleeved tan/gold for $35.00. They are Majestic products, so they probably carry a fit similar to the jersey t-shirts. I'm sure their price reflects their exclusivity to MP. Other wild card merchandise which I hadn't seen in Madison included $12.00 mini bats, $12.00 team signed (stamped) ball (looked pretty much like the team ball, but with an additional NL WILD CARD stamp), $10.00 NLDS pin, $6.00 magnets, $6.00 key chain, and $3.00 bumperstickers. There was no sign of the special Gameday program sold at the NLDS home games. Considering it was the Brewers' first opportunity in 26 years to market postseason gear, I guess I somehow hoped for a wider selection of products. As for the pre-holiday sale, if the pattern of the past few years holds, I would expect it to be the November 28-29 or December 5-6 (Friday-Saturday). Since that's not really far ahead, I am a little skeptical that they would already have the postseason swag discounted by then. Maybe after Christmas. Having said that, they certainly seemed to have a large number of Octoberfest shirts, and you'd think they wouldn't want a ton of them in stock in April.
  4. Well, there's no reason we can't have a discussion right here. I'm guessing that the Brewers' elimination made a dent in the general desire to have something like IGTs for the remaining postseason games. I'm still hoping for a Rays-Phillies World Series, mainly to confound the media (no LA, no Boston, no Manny? Whatever shall we report on?). We visited Boston this past April and I was rather turned off by all the Red Sox adoration, so watching them falter at home these last couple of ALCS games has given me a bit of grim satisfaction. When the ALCS was in Florida, I would have liked to poll the Rays-gear-wearing fans throughout Tropicana Field and ask them, "how many regular season games did you go to?" I'd just be curious to know.
  5. Yeah, you'd think that FSN won't have to scrounge for suitable "Brewers Classics" games from the 2008 season.
  6. 7. So TBS and Sharp are having this "lights out" promotion during tonight's game. Aren't they concerned about the amount of electricity used to visit their "lightsout" website?
  8. I hope for a bona fide leadoff hitter.
  9. Good for you, Jimbo. I don't know if it's completely "not bugging me," but it's of some comfort to see that Shane Victorino isn't only a thorn in the Brewers' side this fall.
  10. http://www.thegreatnugget.com/sc/28.jpg This creamed corn tastes like creamed crap!
  11. What is this forum for? The In-Game Thread forum is for discussing each Brewer game of spring training, the regular season, and (god willing) the postseason. One thread will be started for each game. Another thread will be started for each day's games that do not involve the Brewers. What kind of discussion is allowed here? In-game threads (IGTs) are a handy way to archive discussion pertaining to specific games, and are fun to look back on later as well. Since most IGT posts are made while a game is in progress, they are inevitably more impromptu than posts in other forums. Still, IGT posts are subject to Brewerfan's general Rules of Conduct. Here are some examples of what not to do and what to do in IGTs: Don't... Post just to post. Less can be more. Use the thread to insult players or team staff. There are all kinds of bad decisions in baseball, but players and staff are not bad people. A bad pitch does not make Jeff Suppan an idiot; a misplayed grounder does not mean that Prince Fielder is garbage. Post one-word messages unless it's to directly answer a question and only one word is required. Declare the game over before the score goes final. Despite a universe of statistics, baseball regularly provides proof that nothing is a sure thing. Use the thread to discuss issues that are largely outside the scope of the game. Discuss non-Brewer games in the IGTs for Brewer games, or vice versa. Do... Describe plays in detail when helpful. Discuss umpires' calls, scoring decisions, matchups, substitutions/strategy. Discuss what's going on in the park and what the broadcasters are talking about. Offer relevant links related to the game itself. Make sure your messages contribute something and are worth reading. Even during games, think before you post. It's the Brewerfan way. Should I be doing play by play commentary? No. Virtually all Brewer games are covered in real-time by a plethora of sports websites, so there is no need to provide a play-by-play or inning-by-inning recap, solely to list what happened. Exceptions: - Describing specific plays in detail for posters who can't see a filthy pitch, web gem or other remarkable action. For example, if you're watching a game on TV and a poster who's following by radio asks how on earth Rickie got to that grounder in time to turn the double play, feel free to chime in with your observations. - Providing general recaps for spring training games, which tend to get less media coverage than regular season and postseason games. Finally, to try to keep IGTs organized and easy to sort/locate, we've developed a usability guide for IGTs. Thanks for your attention and enjoy the in-game discussions!
  12. Elsewhere on the forum, I'd hoped out loud that Dale would be interviewed, along with others. I don't think he should be handed the job or instantly dismissed, based on his extremely short managing sample. So I'm at ease with this.
  13. I thought we determined back in April that bats and nail guns were the tools of choice for zombie defense. (Sorry to derail. That's still one of my all-time favorite threads on this site.)
  14. I had to download Quicktime to get both video and sound.
  15. I don't know how likely that is (since it's most relevant in commercials playing during MLB events)...but with the link posted by pretendastronaut, we can relive it over and over.
  16. I just saw that on TV tonight! It fell just short of inspiring me to get off the couch, abandon our current wireless provider and get an iphone - but it was neat, and I recognized the clip immediately.
  17. There were shirts (navy and goldish-tan) with this logo in the Fan Zone during the NLDS. I don't know if the Brewers acted on tristarscoop's suggestion, or if the shirts were already in the pipeline by then. I think they were $30.00, but don't quote me on that. They looked good. I am considering a trip to MP this week to make my postseason merchandise haul; if I get there, I'll post an update.
  18. My overnight dream was that we received our 2009 season ticket invoice. Our terrace level location was changed to section 405 and our loge location to section 380. I was mad about both (of course, it being a dream, I wasn't immediately realizing that Miller Park has no section 380). I was going to call our ticket rep to find out how the heck we got bumped out of the family sections...but then I woke up.
  19. Per the Cap Times website, it looks like the band will be playing on Saturday, 10/11.
  20. Link, from the Waukesha County website.
  21. No kidding, pitchleague. My first thought upon seeing the screen grab a couple of posts up was, "Too much clutter!" If that much information is on the scoreboard at once, it could be quite a distraction.
  22. I asked our ticket rep about the team photo. It sounds like they decided to pass on the photo card because Yost and Simmons appeared in the photo. (Also Laynce Nix, per the ticket rep's email, but as they have in previous years distributed team photo cards that included players no longer with the club, I think it really came down to Ned and Ted.) Kind of a bummer, to have the arguably most special team in a quarter century have no photo card.
  23. Mar-cus Ha-nel! (clap clap clap-clap-clap) Seriously, I'd show up for a Dave Bush bobble. For crying out loud, he has the Brewers' first postseason win in 26 years. In terms of "star power," Yovani and (if he somehow stays, or is named NL MVP) CC seem like the leading choices. Not that I'd expect this as a giveaway, but both my mom and I would like a Gabe Kapler. I don't know if the folks at BD&A could do justice to his muscles, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Also, I assume at least half of this site's membership (myself included) might appreciate a Russell Branyan bobble.
  24. Where were the "ballpark" scenes shot?
  25. I noticed the same thing, stoops (the clap clap clap-clap-clap cadence that would accompany "Let's Go Brewers"). It would have been neat if the crowd as a whole could have coordinated that cadence.
