  1. Maybe this'll sound clueless, but if you're starting a playoff beard, why did you shave today at all? I don't think I have the chromosomes to grow a playoff beard, but I could wait to get a haircut. I'm on vacation soon anyway.
  2. I'll be heading to lunch shortly...both excited and hungry. I'll look for people who look like freaking internet geeks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. So, on the bright side, they won't be no-hit on a national stage. Yes! I'm glad I've had tedious work to do this morning. I couldn't keep what's left of my mind on much else.
  4. There is a Braun playoffs blog?
  5. If it's of any comfort, you probably wouldn't have heard the call even if you had a radio along.

  7. I've been geeked up since 1983. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif On Thursday morning I'll be turning my Brewers wall calendar over to October. The photo is of Corey Hart. Last fall, when I bought the calendar, I joked that Corey would be "Mr. October." Maybe not - but the important thing is, we get the opportunity to find out.
  8. Ooh, thanks! I heard it again on Sunday, well after the initial rounds of celebration so I could hear the "oh oh OH ohhh" part, but couldn't really distinguish the rest. Not gonna lie, I can't help but like the "finally it's our time now" part.
  9. Our hope is that the change will cut down on people swooping in and signing up only to wheel and deal (like "authentic jersey" guy from earlier this month).
  10. I emailed Madison Metro today asking if they could put GO BREWERS on the lighted route signs on the buses - like they do all the time for the Badgers and occasionally for the Packers. If anyone in Madison sees GO BREWERS on a Metro bus, take a picture! If I see it, I'll probably start crying...again.
  11. I don't know how early they staff the Stiftskeller on weekdays (for buying beer). I'm not a drinker but maybe I'll have a soda while you others imbibe. If wild-card caps were available I might sport one, but my ball-glove cap got the Brewers to the playoffs (or so I like to think), so maybe I'll just stick with what's worked to date.
  12. Ooh Ooh, I have something to post about Sam's Club. Someone from a Sam's Club called me this morning because a former employee listed me as a reference. The caller had only three questions for me, which I was to answer yes or no. The first one (paraphrased) was, "Do you have reason to believe that this person might threaten violence against co-workers or customers?" The other two weren't as attention-grabbing.
  13. I'm feeling useless at work already, but I'm still going to try for at least partial days this week. Then I have the following two weeks off (which I scheduled before the Brewers clinched. Wow, I'm still wrapping my mind around phrases such as 'before the Brewers clinched').
  14. http://www2.jsonline.com/badger/image/2000/mad1325.jpg Anyone remember March 25, 2000? (Not that I'm in this picture)
  15. I've heard that's a pretty sweet location. While reading this thread, I just realized that since the Brewers are participating in the postseason, season ticket holders who paid for the early rounds have now been charged for the whole shebang. Wowza.
  16. I was thinking of the Union myself, unless my office mate is still sick (in which case I probably should stay at work) or unless I decide to watch at home. If others come to the Rathskeller (or Stiftskeller, whichever it is), someone bring a laptop so we can post. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Will Bob and Jim only be available on 620?
  17. In Madison this evening, I checked out Penney's at West Towne, Kohl's behind West Towne, Wisconsin Active Sportswear at Westgate and (earlier today) the Name of the Game store in the new Lucky/University Square building. The Name of the Game had a rack's worth of the gray shirts, I thought for $24.00 but it could have been $28.00. They had no Wild Card caps, but they had no shortage of NL Central Champion Cubs caps. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Penney's and Kohl's were completely worthless for postseason gear. However, they have each boosted their supply of "ordinary" Brewers gear since my last trip there a month ago, and that is all on sale: 20% off at Penney's (with a $10 coupon I had, I finally scored a Sabathia shirt for $9.71 with tax), and "buy one, get one 1/2 off" at Kohl's. So if you are still seeking CC gear, your chances are renewed. Wisconsin Active Sportswear at Westgate had four of the grey shirts: one L, one XL and two XXL. They also had youth sizes of the same shirt. No postseason caps. The gray shirts seemed uncommonly long - the men's large came down almost to my knees. I'm not a tall person, but other Brewers shirts by Majestic don't do that. MLB.com has a women's style of the gray shirt, but Majestic tends to assume all women are wafer-thin, so I don't know if any of the gray shirts will fit me. I may have to just order an alternate cap online or something. After 26 years, this shouldn't be such a challenge, should it?
  18. I've become a fan of the music played before the top of the first, during CC's starts. Obviously it helps that I'll forever more associate the song (whatever it is) with CC and this season.
  19. Position player: Jason Kendall, our bulldog. I even made Jason my pre-season "unsung hero" choice. Pitcher: Ultimately it's impossible for it to be anyone but CC, but one of my first thoughts upon reading the thread topic was Big Seth's important outing Friday night. Outside the organization: I'm going to be cocky, for one post in my tenure here, and say "me." The Brewers were 22-11 in games I attended. I still can't believe I saw so many regular-season wins; and enough of them were close that I believe I occasionally willed the Brewers to a win. (And in the end, one more win was the difference.)
  20. Yeah, sorry, I can't get to Milwaukee ASAP. Otherwise I remember and I'm die-hard. Though I'm sure splitter is more crazy than I am.
  21. Section 213, I think in row 8. Works for me.
  22. Sunday was not bad - though we had loge tickets instead of terrace tickets, and I'm sure that was part of the difference. Section 217 on Sunday was probably 90% Brewer fans, and apart from one woman who didn't seem to want to put down her sign, there wasn't much to irk me, even before the game turned in Milwaukee's favor. TB 417 on Saturday was maybe 55 or 60% Brewer fans, and a more obnoxious bunch to boot (again, I think, regardless of the score).
  23. 1982 was the first year I followed baseball, and while it was fun I completely lacked the perspective to truly appreciate it. This will not be the case in 2008. 1-0 record for Wednesday, Brewers. That's all I ask.
  24. I might leave work early today to give it a go at Madison stores. I'm not sure what success I'll have.
