  1. I saw the old logo plate on a car last Friday night heading home from the game on Highway 41 North. Surprised to see these things so soon.
  2. I'm looking for Kottaras to start today. I don't want Macha to throw Zaun out there like he did Kendall last year.
  3. No kidding. The steroid era is over. Players are actually showing their age again. The money is now going to the guys who can run the bases and play some defense. Ex-mashers in their mid thirties looking for multi year deals at Yankee-type dollars are insane. It's not 2001 anymore.
  4. The P. Manning Wheaties Fuel commercial. Dude's great at the funny ads, but this serious one is really annoying. Hit that guy. Hit that guy.
  5. I really don't think Braun is making Remetee shirts in his basement and working in his restaurants kitchen for supplemental income. Is he getting turned down for financing at the yacht dealership because he isn't making a couple extra million a year? If he rips his knees up or breaks a hip I'd say that he didn't leave a dime on the table. Or maybe he just loses it and turns into another Hall or Hart. I'm pretty sure that Corey Hart is regretting he didn't follow Braun's footsteps in getting locked up early.
  6. beer-battered mozzarella sticks
  7. He got lit up in his low A start with the T-Rats last year. Don't know why they thought he was good to go for Milwaukee after that.
  8. I know you want to go in spring, but going in mid-late September is a great time to go. The crowds are small and Disney offers the free dining plan. Food is expensive at Disney and the free dining plan is really nice. My fiance and I have done this the past two years. We'd grab a breakfast at the hotel cafeteria really early and hit the parks. Then we'd have reservations at one of the restaurants at Epcot for dinner. It was a great time eat at France one night and Japan the next, etc. Gotta have the park hopper if you're gonna do this though. And make sure to make your dinner reservations 90 days ahead of time! I'd also advise that you make sure you're at your bus terminal back to the hotel before the fireworks end. It gets pretty crazy once the parks start closing and they'll pack you in like sardines. Not to mention the extremely long wait times for the busses to arrive and loaded. This is especially the case when they have to load people with wheelchairs and rascals. It takes forever and it's a sure bet that there will be plenty to load. Fast Pass is your friend and parade time is a great time to hit up some of the busier rides. Magic Kingdom: The Stitch ride is terrible and not worth your time. Epcot: The restaurants in the world showcase are excellent for dinner. I advise you to eat here most every evening. Hollywood Studios: Get your Fast Pass for Toy Story Mania immediately. It's my favorite ride in all of Disney World and it's by far the busiest. Animal Kingdom: Do the Safari Tour as early as possible. This is when the animals are most active. It took my fiance and I 5 days to do all the parks at first. It took us 4 the next trip when we weeded out the rides we didn't liked. With a youngster, I'd advise you to have at least 6 days there or more if you can if you expect to do all the parks and still have some energy. Hollywood Studios can be done in half a day or so if you're good and if you skip the shows. The rest of the parks will take an entire day or more to do. This thread is making me wanna go back. I always have a great time there. DON'T BRING A STROLLER!!!
  9. 99-63 Pujols and Carpenter will both spend significant time on the DL. Weeks will stay healthy and turn into the third stud in the lineup with a monster 30-30 year. Pitching will will overachieve, defense will improve. With more speed on the basepaths and a catcher who isn't a black hole, we'll run away with the division. How's that for optimism?
  10. Can't we just keep him active, send him down to AAA and then put him on the DL? Don't if there are rules against that or not.
  11. Uh oh. Guess I shouldn't have had put my new snowblower into storage last weekend. Only used it once this winter. I wonder if I could use the lawn mower to clear the snow.
  12. I'm into the middle infielders. I was a huge Delino DeShields fan since he was an Expo. The last few years of his career were pretty rough. Once he was out of the league, the Brewers drafted Rickie Weeks to be their 2B of the future. He's been my guy since draft day. Still waiting for him to bust through and put it all together.
  13. -had coffee -had a beer -been able to swim -seen Caddyshack in it's entirety
  14. Link Not much to the story. Just found it nice to see a story about Kendall in the news not involving him being bad at baseball.
  15. Real snakes don't have arms and legs. Fang would be less of a joke if he kept it real and slithered through the stands to get the crowd pumped up.
  16. My pick would be Austin. It's one of the most exciting cities in the nation. Boise is a nice town no doubt and great scenery. Especially the girls. There's quite a large Latter Day Saints population there and the Mormon girls are stunning. The thing is that you gotta walk em down the isle before you get to sample the goods. You probably won't have that problem in Austin. And they do grow them bigger in Texas so they say.
  17. The Appleton Curling Club building is haunted.
  18. Don't forget Less Than Zero. Downey Jr. did a great job at pretty much playing himself.
  19. My three year old dog has cataracts. I've been noticing he was having some kind of sight issues for over a week. Took him to the vet. Then took him to an opthamologist. He has cataracts that are in advanced stages in both eyes. He needs surgery or he will eventually go blind. $6,000 is a little bit hard to come up with. Especially when you're in the middle of planning a wedding. So long honeymoon. But he is my best friend and I can't just let him lose his sight at so young. He's at my side almost 24/7 and brings a ton of joy into my life. I'm really hoping he doesn't have any complications when he goes under the knife next week.
  20. I think non tendering Hart should be seriously looked into. Damon, Dye, Baldelli, Gomes, Anderson are all still out there. Not to mention we have Gerut on the roster who could quite possibly be the better player.
  21. My head will explode if Lincecum loses his hearing.
  22. I don't see what all the drama is about. He is the biggest reason for the existence of the Milwaukee Brewers. What he has done as commissioner of the MLB should have no influence as to why there will be a statue of the man at Miller Park. Now if we were debating his credentials for an induction into Cooperstown, please feel free to go over the merits of his entire body of work. I'm surprised about how much flack Selig takes for the 2002 All Star Game decision. What was the man supposed to do? Leave Padilla and Garcia out there until they threw their arms out in an exhibition game? I'm sure the Phillies and Mariners would have been big fans of that. It's the All Star Game. It means nothing. The fans should be happy that they got to witness 3 extra innings of world class players.
  23. I liked the Kia commercial with the toys. Don't know why, but seeing a robot doing the robot made me geek out. The Dodge Charger commercial was good too. Not a fan of either product though.
  24. I'm getting hitched in July and the fiancé and I are trying to have a poor wedding too. We're having the ceremony at a park two block from my house and having the party at a pavilion in the park as well. It was less than $200 to rent it all out and the city will even set up the chairs for the wedding of 130 guests. We're both non-religious so we asked our neighbor to marry us. It's less than $50 to become ordained. A friend who plays piano for a living will play some music for the ceremony. I hate tuxes and would rather wear my suit. The fiancé's parents unexpectedly cut us a nice check for the wedding so I decided to splurge a few hundred on a brand new suit. The bride's dress will be about the same. The groomsmen will just wear their own suits and the bridesmaids will wear their own dresses. For photography, I have an acquaintance who does it professionally who will do my wedding at a huge discount. I hate watching myself on video so we're skipping the videographer. Not sure what we're doing for flowers and invitations yet. For the party, my father offered to pay for food and drinks. We're gonna have broasted chicken and mashed potatoes catered in from a local mom and pop restaurant. We'll probably make up a couple other dishes for the vegans. For desert we'll get some pies. I've been stocking up for the last month or so on soda and beverages. We'll probably have a keg or two of beer and some bottles of hard stuff. I might hire an acquaintance to make drinks or I might just let the guests make their own. When the booze runs out, it runs out. Music will be provided by my stereo and iPod playlist. Sam's club is a great place for food, booze, plates, table settings, etc. Come evening, I arranged for some bands of my choice to be booked to play at my favorite music venue. That way, the venue will be in charge of paying the bands. Come 10:00, whoever is left at the party will head over to the venue to finish the night with some live music. I'm hoping that there will be a decent of money left over that the sweetie and I can take a nice honeymoon. Hopefully Europe. Weddings don't have to be expensive at all. It's the wedding industry that profits. There are many books and websites out there that help you plan a wedding on the cheap. No one is going to remember, much less care about some stupid gold embossed napkins with your name on it, or an engraved cake cutter. What you'll remember is the quality time you'll be sharing with your new wife and the people who you care about. Nothing else matters.
  25. Colby, PM me with your email address and I'll send you a PDF of the Kreature Comforts Lo-Life Guide to Memphis. It'll tell you about all the good stuff. Where to eat, where to sleep, where to visit. Memphis is my favorite city to visit and I've been there about 7 times or so. The more you stay away from Beale Street, the more fun you will have. Do Graceland if you have to, but Sun Studio and the Stax Museum are much more inspiring. As is the Civil Rights museum. If you are there on a Sunday and Al Green is not on tour, you must go see the Reverend preach at the Full Gospel Tabernacle. I'm not a spiritual man at all but is was one of the most uplifting experiences I've ever had. Feel free to PM with any questions you have after you read the guide. I've seen a lot of the city.
