  1. If they were going to change those rules for next year, I would expect they would had to announce it by now, because people are renewing, with the understanding of those rights as they have been. I know, a change in that could drastically alter my renewal plans. I was able to buy full strips both in 07 and 08 for the playoffs, and I had a fan-choice 20 pack. Also, my friend did agree to join me on my package tonight, so I'm not looking for a partner anymore.
  2. That home run story is really cool! Thanks Todd and Jeff for a great interview!
  3. All the best to your boys DatHoser. My wife and I had a long talk last night about if we should vaccinate our twins. She's not for it because they don't go to daycare, so they're not at as much risk. However, she is a teacher and there are several kids out with it at her school. Reading that link doesn't make me much more comfortable about her being in schools and our boys not being vaccinated.
  4. I've had a 20 pack for awhile now, but think I need to split it this season as well. I have a friend who is possibly interested, but I don't trust that he'll go for it. So I'm half throwing my hat in the ring here too.
  5. If you're not a fan of one of the teams involved, I don't understand how you find all of that 9th inning drama and heroics to make a "not very exciting first round"? If all of the series were that short lived and didn't contain the 9th inning rallies, then I'd understand, but every single series had a 9th inning rally, which is pretty amazing for such a short span of games.
  6. You could also smoke in Friday's. It's a bit amazing how many places you could smoke actually. I would imagine they'll need to expand the outside smoking areas, because there are only two relatively small areas for smoking outside right now.
  7. That was a fast, but entertaining first round. Now I have a few days to stew about the MLB playoffs being slaves to a the broadcast schedule, with no baseball for a few days.
  8. Flickr will let people see them without registering if you choose.
  9. Wasn't there already a thread once about Cameron saying he'd be willing to take a cut to stay here or some such thing? Maybe the language was discount?
  10. Someone pointed out on NSBB that the Central is now 1-11 over the last three years in the postseason. Way to represent Brew Crew! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. With all the hub-bub that went down this year over Happy Youngster and Chris Coghlan, I found this story interesting; Historic baseball safe at home in Miami girl's hands Now, the situations are different, and I'm curious about the Phillies supposedly taking a 12 year old girl to their clubhouse without her parents and how that actually went down. Regardless of all of that, it's a bitter irony I think that this went down in Florida, and that the Miami Herald, the same media outlet that broke the HY story, sings an entirely different tune here. Granted the articles aren't by the same people, but it's interesting to note all the same I think.
  12. Haha, wow, what are the odds on that? Posting the same link, in the same minute.
  13. The Soaring Cost of Car Rentals
  14. It certainly feels that way, because the handling of Gamel was beyond frustrating, however, technically McGehee was a rookie and got plenty of playing time. He gave Escobar a fair shake, and I think Escobar played his way into a starting role next season. I don't think Melvin hands over a team that leaves much room to put Escobar on the bench next season. Gamel on the other hand, who knows. It's clear Macha isn't going to play Gamel over alternatives, so that ends up in Melvin's hands. If we're in the race, we don't need to worry that Macha isn't putting in the farm kids to see how they perform.
  15. Offensively the Brewers had a great season, even though it may not always feel that way. The were 3rd in the NL for; runs scored, home runs, total bases, RBIs, OPS. Tied for 4th in BA and 5th in hits. Really the only teams that outpaced us offensively were the Phillies and Rockies. However, only 2 NL teams gave up more than 800 total runs this year; Nationals and Brewers. Seven teams gave up more than 700 earned runs; Nationals (791), Brewers (770), Pirates (723), Astros (722), Diamondbacks (711), Mets (705), Padres (704). So yes, I think it's very good that we got to 80 wins with that pitching performance. I'm not in love with Macha, but I'll give him another shot over plenty of alternatives, he didn't make or break this season. I don't like how he handled certain aspects, but I didn't feel he was constantly costing us games like Yost.
  16. AL Central Tiebreaker: Twins over Tigers ALDS: Yankees over Twins in 4; Angels over Red Sox in 5 ALCS: Yankees over Angels in 6 NLDS: Dodgers over Cardinals in 4; Phillies over Rockies in 4 NLCS: Dodgers over Phillies in 7 World Series: Yankees over Dodgers in 6
  17. Wait, Fischer was invited back? That's probably the most annoying news out of that announcement.
  18. Gamel being "psychologically ruined" is just subjective opinion with no bearing. Same thing with the Counsell statement. And even the Braun statement. None of that is fact based though, and nobody can say what's right or wrong there. As far as factually; He needs to be starting and getting more ABs no doubt, but he's not gone more than 4 days without an AB since he was called back up. He pitched 3 times in a week before he was sent home for the year. Again, I don't agree with how he was handled, but that's also not true. He just pitched in 2 out of 3 in CO, as well as three times last week.
  19. Not to turn this into a Macha thread, and not to really defend Macha either (because I don't care for him either), but monty, so much of what you said about Macha is just factually wrong.
  20. Wow, that's crazy! Haha, good stuff.
  21. There was an article in ESPN The Magazine a few issues ago about Texas' pitching transformation, and it seems most of the credit is going to overall culture changes within the Rangers organization, especially Nolan Ryan's fundamental changes in attitude and approach. Which isn't to say that I don't find Maddux valuable, but he didn't single handedly transform that staff either.
  22. This is another one of those times when baseball is held to some odd mythical standard. Is it poor gamesmanship in the NFL when an offense audibles out of their formation after they see the how the defense has set up? Or when the defense shifts their coverage based off the audible they just heard?
  23. Stealing the signs from the 3B coach was probably the only real value I ever provided to my HS baseball team, outside of a few comedic slides.
  24. I wasn't home to watch the majority of the game Tuesday night, but what I did see, I thought the strike zone was crazy then as well.
