  1. Fine show ice skating, but why hold all the skiing then? All you see is about 4 runs because they use it as filler.
  2. Just radio coverage, most games don't get TV coverage (Heck, lots of games don't even get a full umpiring crews)
  3. Narveson is left hander who throws in the 90s, Suppan is a right hander who tops out at 87. Narveson can strike hitters out, Suppan can't. Narveson is Brewers property past this season. Suppan isn't. Now I think its really Narveson vs Villaneuva at this point and as long man Suppan is a fine option given the circumstances.
  4. NBC has a ton of channels they can put the Olympics on. They are already using USA, MSNBC, and CNBC. They could easily remove all of MSNBC's programming during the Olympics. I mean its mostly talkshows during weekdays and bad Dateline specials during weekends. CNBC is even worse during non business hours when its mostly just infomercials. In addition they could through things on Bravo and SyFy. They don't do it because they want to pick and choose from different things to air in prime time.
  5. Are you going to go school full time now? If so your best bet will be getting insurance through the school if you can.
  6. Its hard to say. It will depend greatly upon the risks associated with your condition. For example I have a thyroid problem and have had it for years. In general that would be covered since its basically a $10 90/day prescription and a blood test now and again. But if it was cancer, no way could it get covered.
  7. Hard to see the Rangers dumping a guy who made 10 starts for them last year and put up a 3.88 ERA.
  8. Because in almost every single job at that level of pay you have multi year guaranteed contracts. The weird thing is that the NFL doesn't and thats because the player's union has been lick-spittle group.
  9. Zaun isn't Kendall and so will likely only catch around 90 games. So the 2nd catcher will be getting to actually play this year. I do agree Kotteras has a slight edge though.
  10. And I think you weigh where a player plays way too much. Fielder at least has ties to Wisconsin through his wife. Most players spend more time in Arizona or Florida than they do in the city they play for.
  11. Here's a list of the top 500 position players by WARP. Thomas is in the Molitor-Yount-Griffey range despite being a terrible fielder. His bat was just that good. http://www.baseballprojection.com/war/top500.htm
  12. They are still draft picks. Its a system that forces players to only negotiate with one team. If there was no draft players would get paid more.
  13. So the Brewers used a system, the draft, that keeps down what the players are actually worth and then you argue that the pre-arby system is fair because of it?
  14. Lopez became a FA during a downturn with a glut of 2B on the market and he's been known to quit on teams before. Not sure what people were expecting to see. Coudl eh come back? At $2m possibly (no Inglett isn't standing in his way) but Lopez likely wants a guaranteed starting position so he can tried to get paid next year.
  15. I don't know. People need to keep in mind Lopez has burned bridges in every city he's been in except Milwaukee.
  16. Not paying Fielder means flexibility to pay for 1 above average player and 1 relief pitcher or two average players. Its not like 16-18m is going to bring in something huge in general.
  17. $8m is about what a 2 win player gets. CHONE projects Hart to be worth 1.9 wins in 128 games. Do I think Hart had a strong case based on his value? No but then its based not on that but the fact the Mets gave Francouer $5m
  18. Yeah I can't wait until non NBC coverage really starts up. The stuff on CNBC, MSNBC, USA tends to actually be live. Right now its women's hockey on CNBC.
  19. If Hart was a free agent going into 2009 he would easily have gotten 3 years/24 million. Yes the market has gone down and arby is slow to adjust, but its slow in both directions.
  20. The makeup they have him today has taken all color out of his face.
  21. Al Micheals is scary looking. He got more work done, got a new piece and its looks the make up crew decided to make him look as much like a corpse as possible.
  22. So Xavier Nady, the only one listed comparable to Hart, got $3m despite not even playing last season and we're supposed to be incredibly upset that Hart got $4.8m? $700K makes no difference to the Brewers, the likely reason they went to arby anyway since it looks like MLB decided to make another stupid arbitration stand this year (making Lincecum your poster case is so foolish only Bud's men could come up with that plan.)
  23. Thing is, they have teh money Minaya justs wastes its. I still can't believe the Perez signing. And paying Bay made no sense.
  24. Actually personal transportation devices is the monorail-ideas from the 1950s always dressed up as the next big thing. It makes no sense for a number of reasons. The same reasons that flying cars don't exist. One thing people who talk about how this won't be any faster than driving miss is that it will be much, much safer than driving. Amazing how many people are willing to take such a huge risk for granted.
  25. Heether has all three options remaining. If Edmunds is able to go he'll make the team but if he isn't he won't. Schoenweiss only has a shot if someone gets injured.
