  1. No the trade looked bad at the time. The Brewers gave up the most talented player in Davis and the player with the most upside in Eveland. It was a bad decision focused on the hope the Estrada wasn't as bad as he seemed and wasn't as big of an ass everyone said he was.
  2. If its a 50-50 pitch its too close to swing at 3-2 especially with the bases loaded
  3. Eveland didn't pitch worse, he had more Ks than innings pitched. He was a 22 year old pitching in the majors with all of 30 innings previously. He's the kind of pitcher most on here who have loved to get. Eveland had a low to mid 90s fastball, he wasn't Henderson. I'm not saying Eveland got a raw deal, all I'm saying is that was that he wasn't traded due to 60 innings in MLB before age 23.
  4. Haudricort and Olsen both have implied on the radio that Eveland was viewed as a punk by the clubhouse.
  5. Eveland isn't that good after injury. I think people forget how good Eveland was. He was traded because the coaching staff in Milwaukee couldn't stand him.
  6. You're not getting Hughes or even Kennedy for Gillespie.
  7. Gillespie could be moved but you'd think the Yankees would be thinking more along the lines of Giles (or even signing Jenkins for free)
  8. Was he hurt last April too? (.273/.296/.432)
  9. Yes you will, its just not a huge amount of money but its something. If you double up your property taxes in 2009 (ie you pay 2008's in 2009 and 2009's in December) you'll likely have more than the standard deduction with the mortgage interest thrown in. Keep in mind that not only is interest on your home tax deductible its also at lower rate than anything else, so the saving isn't as great.
  10. Bedard could be moved, Oswalt if he waived his no trade clause, Halladay has been mentioned numerous times, Buerhle and Contreas
  11. No he had to clear waivers to be sent down, but not DFA'd. If anybody claimed him the Brewers could have rescinded the waivers so it wasn't really meaningful to claim him unless some team really wants to screw up the Brewer's roster management.
  12. All Kendall does is hit the ball and put it in play. Maybe that really isn't that important?
  13. Weeks looks to be missing some time going forward-that is going to swell terribly
  14. Just got a PS3 and from my limited experience and with my experience of my brother's small network bumps cause problems if your networking things.
  15. Depending on how you income lines up, get an IRA, Roth or Traditional (when younger Roth tends to be better).
  16. Since its an 85 team we don't have to say that.
  17. Davis really didn't have a problem until his last year with the Brewers. Suppan hasn't had such a problem until now. Melvin does love power bullpen arms no matter the control issues though.
  18. I think they might do what they tried to do with Eveland, have him start and then come up to keep his innings down. Of course the Milwaukee coaching staff hated Eveland (with some reason) so that didn't work out too well.
  19. Well Kendall's OPS in 2006 was .610 with a .301 OBP so its not like he hasn't had issues.
  20. I don't think Jeffress has a chance at the opening day roster. He only pitched 85 innings last year. He might get 100 this year. That means like 110-120 next year. He won't start then and I doubt they put him in relief at this point. And this assumes he gets some control.
  21. Yes their is an opening in the OF but the Brewers don't seem to want Hart anywhere near CF. Yes Green is at 3B but is still at least a year behind Gamel and can be moved to 2B if Gamel sticks anyway. Given that Hall was already platooned last year and he can play elsewhere for a year if he needs to be on the bench 3B is much more open than a corner OF spot for 2009. Keeping him at 3B gives the Brewers many more options right now. That said if Braun ends up sidelined tonight for 6 weeks expect Gamel to start taking flyballs tomorrow. I don't think anybody here sees Gillespie as a permanent starter.
  22. The point is that Suppan's ERA was deceptively low because he had given up a bunch on unearned runs early in the year. Those became earned runs in September
  23. Robert- Suppan was also lucjy at that point because he gave up a ton on unearned runs. He had 11 unearned runs in the first half of the season
