  1. No reason to move him up since they are carefully increasing his innings pitched so that he will be ready in 2011 to start in Milwaukee.
  2. Vizcaino was incredibly valuable on that Sox team (more than a certain all run, no hit, no field CFer). Now if he has lost that velocity he could be injured or done. My guess is unless he's upset at the Cubs for DFAing him, he'll end up at their AAA team, but if he is upset having him trying to right himself in Nashville would be a good thing.
  3. The problem with that is Peavy might force the receiving team to pick up his 2013 option for $22m.
  4. He has an option for 2010 for only $9m and I don't think the Indians are going to be rebuilding.
  5. Philly fans must have learned how to cheer from Cubs fans, I've never heard such cheers for routine fly balls.
  6. Check fangraphs-they made Coffey into a fastball slider guy last year. Tyrying to figure out a Dusty Baker lead team just isn't worth it. That doesn't mean anything for Coffey's previous years but it can help to explain his flameout last season.
  7. I don't have anything right here now, but in general HOF players start 19-21, solid starters 21-23. The point isn't that Gamel's bad for not being up, its that 23 isn't that young when 25 marks the upper limit of prospect status.
  8. Weeks was not rushed. Weeks was hitting fine until he got injured and they kept running him out there. Fielder spent more time in AAA because he was younger. Both were up at age 22. Which is why saying Gamel is "only" 23 is wrong. 23 is on the older side for good players to debut in the majors.
  9. Batting the pitcher 8th is always the better option.
  10. Yost was fired for having Shouse pitch to Burrell. If Atanasio was in Philly that day Yost wouldn't have managed the 2nd game of the double header.
  11. Bigger screens tend to be better. You have to decide if speaking the name of the road is important to you
  12. Lots of them have coaching jobs, broadcasting jobs or front office jobs
  13. My guess is Dukes has "zeroo tolerance" policy in place. And its not like playing Dukes over Kearns will make a huge difference for the Nats' season and Kearns playing well means more to the Nats because they can trade him.
  14. Fangraphs has Coffey's FB at 93.6, about 1.2 MPH over last season and 1 MPH over career. He is also throwing his slider much less this season than last (28.8%(!) in 2008 vs 12.3% in 2009 and for his career it was 18.8%.) and his fastball much more (84% vs 69.8%). While he doesn't look it, Coffey is only 28 the age where relievers often start having 2-3 years of really good performances so there is some hope that this is a new level but I'm not overly optimistic.
  15. The difference between Cameron and Hardy is slight.
  16. So because Hardy isn't hitting he should get more PAs?
  17. Please explain how getting worse at SS and CF makes the Brewers more exciting.
  18. The problem is the team doesn't have until September but July. Come July and the Brewers are below .500 The Brewers will be looking to cut costs. That means moving Cameron, seeing if they can move Kendall, and possibly moving Looper.
  19. Good teams are more worried about losing the wins this year than worrying about get more advanced prospects.
  20. The problem isn't 3-7. Its that you can't go another 3-7
  21. Good teams allow players to walk.
  22. Bill Schroeder-didn't realize Sheffield was a good power hitter
  23. He was afraid he was going to be thrown out by Beltran in CF before he got 3B
  24. Mike Rivera, not Braun, is the true hitting savant
