  1. The big difference is the no trade clauae Maddux holds. If Maddux wants to go to Milwaukee the Pads have very little recourse

  3. I really don't know why they won't just use upp his entire 2 weeks in AAA before making any decision. Its not like he couldn't use the work
  4. Atlanta would pay him $2-3m, I doubt the Brewers would
  5. Thing is the Mariner's really do have to trade him since he is the only tradeable piece they have. Beltre may gain some interest but they'd be selling low given his hitting into a lot of bad luck this year (BABIP of.246 when his LD% supports around a BABIP of .320). Ibanez probably should be traded but he can't play the OF anymore meaning you have a weak 1B/DH or a bench bat brining little back. That leaves Bedard and with the old regieme plus a willing media trying to make Bedard the fall guy better to move him quickly.
  6. No no a thousand times no. 1) Maddux has pitched 225, 210, and 198 innings over the past three seasons. 2) Maddux' FIPs the past three years: 4.06 ,3.80, 3.58. This year its 3.57. He's likely worse than that due to pitching in LA and San Diego, but he would still in the low 4's. That is a solid #2 numbers. Yes I wouldn't sign Maddux to a three year deal but getting him for the second half of 2008 isn't bad if the cost is reasonable.

  9. Looked like a clean single when Hall made contact
  10. The Mariner's were in a totally different place though. At best if everything breaks right (ie Sexson returns to his 2005-2006 form not his 2007 form) they were a .500 team even with Bedard. For teh Brewers gettign that extra win is huge because it coudl easily be the difference between sitting home and being in teh playoffs. And yes there is a huge variance in performance but you still woudlr ather have the guys with the best mean runnign out there.
  11. Last year Yost started using Shouse against right handed hitters and predictably he got lit up. He can't get right handed hitters out, a OBP above .350 pretty much tells you that.
  12. Santana had a no trade clause he would only waive for a team ready to give him an extension. That pretty much limited the Twins options to like 4 teams. Sabathia can go anywhere. Think closer to what the Orioles got for Bedard.
  13. Ah, no. Try LaPorta, Gwynn and Nelson at least.
  14. Because real men pitch when tired and give up that three run home run!
  15. Braun is likely the #6 or7th OFer while Fielder is the number #3 or so 1B assuming no Pujols. Given the DH its a fairly close call.
  16. I have completely given up on Ned being able to manage a bullpen: "When we first got him (Shouse) everbosy told me he was a situational lefty and he might have been. He has proven to be more than a situational lefty." Shouse's splits in Milwaukee: 2006: vs LHB .238/.319/.350 vs RHB .309/.422/.515 2007 vs. LHB .214/.258/.262 vs RHB .295/.352/.337 2008 vs. LHB .157/.157/.294 vs RHB .250/.358/..386
  17. Branyan has great plate discipline, he just has had huge problems making contact. You don't have a career OBP 100 points higher than your BA without taking a good share of walks.
  18. Only in Geno's world are Ender and I buddies and pointing out his taking something entirely out of context a personal attack
  19. The fact that Braun right now is closer to Soriano than to Bay doesn't make him bad, just not as good as some other players.
  20. Mlb4u hasn't been updated since the beginning of last season. Cot's has him at 3.057 years entering this season. http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2004/12/kansas-city-royals_28.html
  21. Grienke will have 4 years of service time at the end of the season
  22. Alex Gordon in AA: .325/.412/.588 Alex Gordon in MLB so far: .254/.325/.413 Braun is an outlier.
  23. Yes, if you mean this year. Damon's RC/27: 7.39. Braun/s RC/27: 6.57
  24. Brown is out of baseball due to family concerns not baseball performance ones. Cust has Branyan type power, I highly doubt it just suddenly vanished
