  1. There has been a reasn I've bwwn on thw move Braun campaign. He is just incredibly poor. Another thign to keep in mind is that Braun will keep being removed for Counsell late in games. since Yost always double switched to bring Counsell in, it gives Counsell and AB. Assuming this happens 3 times a week, thats about 70 PAs given to Counsell instead of Braun. I just don't see the Brewers doing the move. Especially since Braun is like to see a bit of a let down offensively given his BABIP of .367. Braun hits .280 to start the season and people start to question teh team about Braun being moved.
  2. Except Capuano strikes out a ton of batters. He was 22nd in K/9 for those over 100 innings of work. The Brewers have a relatively high K staff and that still wasn't enough.
  3. Hall was nowhere near as bad as Braun. Braun is the worst fielding 3B by every single metric. Its not even close. And the defense is why the pitchers never could go late into games. Is the pitching great? No. But it basically gave the Brewers what was expected heading into the season. The defense was the main problem. And its the one thats the most fixable at lowest cost, its just whether or not the Brewers are brave enough to pull the trigger on it.
  4. I'm sure for a three year extension he'll agree!
  5. Stephen Colbert gives his Wag of The Finger to the merger:
  6. Never thought he was going to be a FA but still think he'll be traded with a contract extension.
  7. I see no way they don't pick up the option, I just think they are going to end up trading him. They won't get much since he has a no trade clause so the receiving team will likely have to give Dunn a 4-5 year extension at $15 million per year at least.
  8. No longer any May 1st guys after the last CBA. However, depending on the option the Brewers might need to release Jenkins.
  9. Wise made $1 million last year. Very little reason for him to expect a huge raise and very little reason to risk cutting him to save $500K.
  10. Well, look at his numbers. Hart's dwarfed him this year. OBP, SLG...speed. I think that he's a product of hype as much as ability after the SI cover that labeled him "The Natural". I certainly think they'd take Gallardo for him straight up. I also don't think we'd comply. Of course they'd take Gallardo straight up. The Brewers would likely take Gallardo straight up for Hart. Starting pitching is a premium.
  11. Makes no sense to decline the option on Jenkins and resign at 6 million over three years. Either its the additional $8 million over one or he leaves. My premonition on Cordero is being echoed. The Brewers will give him a decent offer but far below market. I'd rather sign 3 Bob Howrys for close to the same amount of money. Between KC and Milwaukee, you'd think Prior would take Milwaukee. As to ARod's contract, the Dodgers, Angels, Mets and even White Sox could do it. Don't see him approaching $40 million per year though.
  12. Chipper Jones had a moster year that nobody seems to acknowledge. Carmona was ignored until he shut down the Yankees. Probably really overlooked? Nick Markakis who put up: .300/.362/.485 at age 23 in Baltimore.
  13. Attansio will flip the Brewers. Likely in about 5-7 years when talk of a new stadium starts up. That said $50-80 million was pulled out of Belling's brain that doubles as a seat cushion.
  14. The problem with Hunter is the salary after 2008. In 2009, Suppan will make $12.5 million, Bush around $5 million, Capuano around $6 million, Fielder could get $5 million, Hall $6.8 million. Hardy $5 million, Hart $3 million, and Weeks $3 million. Thats $46.3 million without Sheets and without a bullpen.
  15. Simply pointing out that of the pitchers in there, there's really not a lot of consistency with FIP's to ERA's. I just don't think that there's that much to it. Suppan was nearly flawless last year in the second half, and his three year average was 3.95, so I just don't buy that he was better last year. I just think it's too flawed. IMO, while he had more K's this year, he also gave up a LOT more hits, a higher Whip, his K/BB ratio was better three of the last four years... So yea, I just don't believe that this was Jeff Suppan at his best or even norm. I'm under no illusions that he's a great pitcher, but I do think he's a number 3, and a 4.00-ish type guy. You're missing the entire point about FIP if you compare it to ERAs. Its not meant to show ERA, its meant to show what the pitcher controlled. Pitchers have very little control over BABIP after you account for the type of pitcher. Suppan gave up more hits because his defense sucks compared to last year.
  16. There have been trips put together for games at Wrigley by various radio stations but little I know outside of that.
  17. I don't know if the Coors foundation is racist. Now homophobic to the nth degree, yes. And I assume he means the Bradley Foundation which really no longer has direct ties to any business. And they provided the money for The Bell Curve.
  18. Its that time right?
  19. Coor's Light is beer for people who really don't like the taste of beer. Putting the Coors team in charge, especially Pete Coors, means that the headquarters will almost certainly be in Colorado.
  20. For those who missed it, The Hardball Times had an article about Yost on Saturday: Yost Infection
  21. I think I figured it out! http://images.art.com/images/PRODUCTS/large/10047000/10047381.jpg
  22. Torre would be paid more than any player on the Brewers not named Sheets. It isn't happening.
  23. So SABMiller has overall equity share but is installing Pete Coors to run the thing? I threw up in my mouth.
  24. Because defense matters and thats outside of the pitcher's control. And Webb is an outlier. Webb's GB/FB ration is 3.68 for his career, Suppan's is 1.40 hardly similar.
