Since Ramirez and Renteria have both been better than Hardy, it will likely be the worst choice LaRussa could make. I really don't think that will happen since I think Renteria will be Atlanta's lone representative.
It is probably just Ned over thinking. Capuano is expected to be ready to go a week from Thursday. Which would be right when Yo's next scheduled spot would come up if he starts Saturday. Why Vargas over Bush? Who knows.
Yes Buerhle is a better pitcher than Willis to a decent degree. That said Willis is under contract past this season. The trade market for guys up and the end of th year just hasn't been that great with the only exception being the way Minaya depleted Montreal when he was trying to get a job somewhere else after the Expos kicked the bucket. The Brewers traded a certain rental player last year to the Rangers. The Rangers gave up a deposed closer with a high ERA, a part time outfielder and an oft injured AAAA player. Yes Cordero working out great makes it look different, but to Texas they gave up almost nothing of real value. Gwynn is a guy who could start for the Sox right now. They may want a Philip Hughes and if they do they should just hang on to Buerhle for draft picks and hope Williams chooses wisely.
Well Sparky just said he was willing trade Villaneuva, Inman, and Gwynn for 3 months of Buerhle. Tim Allen wants to trade Parra, Inman, Bush and Villy for Buerhle. Its going to be a long month of July.
Of course Mariotti makes six figures for his assanine reasoning. Only after the big Brewerfan.net IPO will I get that much. wait....Posts=shares right?
It takes almost nothing to get rental players. Sure if you want Dontelle Willis is will cost something. But I doubt it would take much more than Gwynn to get Buerhle given past rental deals.
Turnbow has had fewer blowups than Cordero. They will be looking for another power arm is my guess, though I think Balfour should replace Spurling before anything else is tried. Don't know why people think most LOOGYs are better than Shouse. They aren't. And Shouse actually has enough of an arm to give you innings (though why they are making him do so is anybody's guess).
Remember when Bonds was hitting everything a few years ago and had more home runs than strikeouts? Well two Brewers are approaching similar though perhaps not as awe-inspiring feats. Right now both Estrada and Mench have more home runs than walks. Estrada has 6 home runs and 5 walks while Mench has 2 home runs and 1 walk (which of course was a IBB). Can either or both of these players achieve such a feat? (added tags --1992) (added to thread title --1992)
Griffey is going to want his option to be picked up if moved. Thats $17 million for 2009. I'd love the Cubs to get him! Thats also why it won't happen. I really see no way the Cubs add that much salary while for sale.
It goes back to the man in charge, Gary Howard. He just doesn't seem to care about the quality of the reporting. If Bob McGinley leaves the JS won't likely have anyone with real reporting skills left.
Joe linked that USS Mariner article. The important thing to note is that rental players in general get jetsam. Keep in mind Loretta got Ginter. Wilkerson would be more in the lines of Sarfate.
Who do you remove to keep in Jenkins? Mench. The next three pitchers are 1 inning guys anyway so losing two spots in the order doesn't matter, you up your defense and your offense.
Towards 3B about 10-12 rows up. He was in the background of the honey shot they threw up a bit ago EDIT:He's wearing a blue Brewers home jersey, that will probably help.
Besdies Seth's big series of Buffy and Family Guy and his movie work, his dad is Bruce Green iirc. Bruce Green is a TV director who has been working steadily since the early 1980s (he might be retired now). Whiel TV directors aren't really widely known outside of Hollywood, they are known there because they can get lots of people jobs. So Seth has access to a large rolodex. I really thought the Robot Chicken death curse would catch on. I mean both Don Knotts and Pat Morita kick the bucket after doing Robot Chicken!
LaPorta is a rather old draft pick keep in mind. He turned 22 in January which means he is even old for a college senior. In general 22 year old college seniors don't do as well but LaPorta of course was back due to injury. All this says is that to be worth a first round pick being paid slot money he really should be in Milwaukee by 2009 when he's 24. So I think we might see the greatest push on a prospect in the Melvin era.
