  1. Well sure, but you're still down a corner outfielder unless you're willing to see Reed in center everyday on the hope he'll finally get it. Now if you already have Burell, sure it makes sense.
  2. Well see thats the problem. We'd need to trade for another outfielder. And Reed would do what? Sit on the bench? Start in center over Gross? I think the trade is fair, but it forces the Brewers to get another OFer when they have too many as it is and if they can't get another OFer, then it hurts them.
  3. Because everything points to Wells being gone from Toronto. He's upset with the front office and has made it known he wouldn't mind being traded. It wouldn't necessarily happen but he isn't going to resign.
  4. So I just threw up a little bit in my mouth... Has any other team won the World Series while being this bad?
  5. Making draft picks tradeable makes them more valuable. You can avoid players falling for singability reasons.
  6. Given the fact that Koskie is a big unknow, the Brewers can't get rid of both Mench and Jenkisn unless they bring in a replacement.
  7. Why should he play over Gross to begin with? Their offense isn't that different and Gross isn't a statue in the field. Mench should either be traded or non-tendered if it looks like he is going to get a significant raise.
  8. Well given that Heilman just went under elbow surgery, I'd lay off trading alot in hopes that he becomes a starter.
  9. Which is why I don't understand why you want to bring in such a mediocre player whose only tool is severly overrated. Gabe Gross would do just as well at 1/10th to 1/20th of the cost.
  10. It would be one thing if Pierre was very good defensively, but everything looks like he isn't much better than average. BP has him at 1 FRAA after being an average of -9 the prveious three seasons.
  11. The Brewers real push shoudl occur over the next three seasons with Sheets, Capuano, and Bush all here. You want offense to match with the pitching, and if it requires giving up a pitching prospect that might not even have a place until 2009, you do it.
  12. And don't forget their lucky socks!
  13. Come on I for one just can't wait for the endless LaRussa and Leyland stories, dugout shots, and over indulged McCarver flatteries. And Buck just might hug Pujols!
  14. Actually they can. Adn tehy show it harms the batter more than helps him. And baseball is more an indiviudal sport than almost any team sport save cricket.
  15. Crawford is available (if he really is) because the DRays prefer Baldelli. So his cost would be higher.
  16. Why can Davis do that? He can strike batters out, Maddux can't anymore (not that he was a big K guy to begin with). Davis' K/9 rate is above 7 while Maddux is in the mid 5s. Which means he requires more help from his D, not exactly the Brewer strong point. For example in 2005 (given the two teams, 2006 is harder to compute), his ERA was 4.24 while his DERA was 4.46. Similarly in 2004 his ERA was 4.02 while his DERA was 4.19. Add in Maddux will likely cost at least $3 million more than Davis next season.
  17. Pitching is all teh Drays want (and really need right now). Dave Bush plus say Jackson might be a starting point, but the DRays are notorious for asking for everything in trades.
  18. Overbay would have aged or priced himself out of the Milwaukee market before Ptince does. Overbay would only be around for three years, Prince six.
  19. He's an idiot if he doesn't elect free agency. He would become the number 1 positon free agent. A 28 year old infielder coming off three consecutive 900+ OPS seasons? He would actually be worth going after in free agency.
  20. Hmmm, a large contract and he's being traded from the Braves. Given the great track record of pitchers the Braves unloaded....
  21. As soon as the Brewers bring in Gomez they'll be set!
  22. I actually thought the A's were done when Ellis went out. Meaning they'd get past the Twins but thats it.
  23. Thats not what people are saying. They are saying that he hasn't hit enough yet to be a premiere corner OFer and so shouldn't be used as one.
  24. You know what else pogog? Both teams lead their leagues in runs scored! Amazing how the teams with the highest OPS have the best offenses!
