Perez doesn't have any control. Not to say it won't ever come around, but he has shown no improvement in his second year in AAA. If I was the Rangers I'd ship Perez now while people are still in love with his tools.
Jackson is a solid #2 pitcher. Not sure how this is good for the Brewers. Facing Jackson instead of Chris Volstad 4 times a year doesn't help the Brewers.
So we are going to trade Hart and then give up more than what we get from Hart for a player not as good as Hart? And Morales is a FA after 2013 as well.
I don't care about Sanchez in 2006. WAR over the past three years: Sanchez 4.4, 3.8, 3.8 Gallardo: 4.7, 3.3, 2.7 Gallardo's FB lost a full mph last year. I would not want anything to do with extending Gallardo past his current deal.
Not really. The Brewers had two legitimate MVP caliber hitters with All Star Caliber players in RF and 2B and at least two solid above average starters. The Twins have Gordon and some nice complimentary pieces and a terrible rotation. Adding Shields does really nothing.
Apparently Jackson is encountering what he did last year with no one willing to give him a large deal http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/mlb-rumors/21310361/report-edwin-jackson-encountering-very-cool-market
Floyd looks to be a buy low candidate. He has a decent shot to return to his 2009-2011 form. A Gomez for Floyd deal? Hughes might make some sense if the Yankees get really desperate for cheap 3B help and want something around Green. But Hughes really is just an innings eater. Nolasco has the talent and clearly is available, but there is risk there that he never matches what he should do.
100 points of OPS isn't much of a split. I think you would see a similar split in OPS for all but the best starting pitchers and relievers. When most of that is in OBP, it is a huge split. Loe had issues with home runs from RHers last year. Loe for his career: .302/.365/.473 vs LHers .250/.308/.377 vs RHers. Badenhop .268/.361/.411 .259/.294/.361 This is another guy who shouldn't face LHers which is worrisome because Roenicke probably won't use him that way.
Why? People don't want long term contracts and now they don't want short term ones. If the Sox would take Gamel or Green for Floyd why not make the trade?
If you are in Madison, check out the wisc.jobs site. Often the state has a bunch of temporary LTE positions or less than full time positions they have trouble filling. Right now I know the Dept of Revenue is gearing up for tax returns by hiring temp workers: http://wisc.jobs/public/job_view.asp?annoid=62641&jobid=62156&index=true Check back in Jan for jobs since hiring tends to slow right now until after the holidays. The other thing about looking for state work is that many jobs require an objective exam, which is good since you can get interviews based on your score instead of dealing with people dismissing your resume.
