  1. That rotation looks good, but Sup making $12 mil a year won't go to the pen. I like Cain but I think JJ is one of the young players I would like to continue to build around. If they would take Prince for Cain sign me up.
  2. I would maybe be willing to part with Gamel then. The way he cooled off after LaPorta left last year kind of concerns me.
  3. No. He can't take a big paycut in arby can he? I thought his salary would still probably have to be in the 7-8 mil range in arby?
  4. I think SD wants prospects only in a deal. I think they are also always very high on TGJ. Trade them TGJ, La Croix, and Taylor Green for Peavey. That is if we lose CC. If we lose him we need a Peavy like ace and we won't get it in free agency. Plus he is relatively affordable through 2013. Rotation or Peavy, Yo, Parra, Bush, Suppan wouldn't be bad if we fixed the bullpen issues.
  5. How is Texiara rated higher than Sabathia?!?
  6. I have no problem with offering the 4 year, $100 mil. If he doesn't accept and says that he wants more years the Brewers should give it to him. What would the difference be to up it to 6 years, $150. Still 25 per year and he would only be 33 at the end of that contract. He might accept the 4 year deal though cause I bet it would be easier to get a big contract at age 31 than 33 and who knows what the going rate will be up to by then. I can't imaging offering Sheeter more than a one year incentive laden deal. I think you go 1 year for 5 mil plus incentives that could make the deal up to like 10 mil if he reaches certain innings and win totals. Remember he is a type A free agent so anyone that signs him will have to give up a 1st round pick. Who would want to risk that price plus a larger contract for an injury prone pitcher who missed the end of the season due to an elbow injury. Elbow injuries are very serious and he may not pitch more than 100 innings next year because of this.
  7. I am not terribly thrilled with any of the 3 but I would feel better if it was Brenly. Macha has not managed in the NL and spent the year as a broadcaster for the Red Sox. What does he know about the NL teams? I would give Brenly the edge because he has seen the Brewers over the past couple years frequently and he has also seen and knows a lot about the other teams in the NL especially the Cubs!!!
  8. As long as they learn from this experience like the young Phillies did last year and come back stronger next year!
  9. I am also going to the Packer game on Sunday and it is the only game I am going to this year as well. Tonights game is the only game I actually get to see. MLB did me no favors with the schedule. I have gotten to see much of the Cubs games but since I work til 9pm I have not gotten to see the Brewer games. Now they have to schedule the Sunday game at noon instead of later and Tuesday is scheduled for 5 if necessary. Man that really ticks me off!
  10. No, you can't trade quality pitching if you want to win. The fans would have been angry if Brewers traded him in 2005. I agree we will probably resign him to a one year deal though I do not think it will be for $12 mil. His elbow is gonna be a major concern and I don't think anyone will want to give up high draft picks to sign him. Brewers will resign him to a one year incentive laden deal I bet and he tries it all over again next year.
  11. Did his wife really want him to quit or did he have a problem with the way Yost was managing the team?
  12. We have CC, the best pitcher in baseball right now. In 2003, the wildcard Marlins rode Josh Beckett to a World Series title with a similar ball club. Why can't we? Plus we are young and don't know any better and every expert seems to think we will lose 1st round.
  13. The offense not scoring as many runs as they did in July and August and the slump by Hart. Torres also struggling to get anybody out is not what you want to see from your closer.
  14. I will DVR the games but since I work 2nd shift I will try to watch at work or at least listen. I don't think I would be able to wait until 10:00 to find out how they did. Plus I work with a Cub fan and I am sure that he will let me know the result if they lose anyway.
  15. White Sox over Twins in play-in Rays over Sox in 4 Red Sox over Angels in 4 Brewers over Phils in 5 Cubs over Dodgers in 4 Sox over Rays in 6 Brewers over Cubs in 6 Sox over Brewers in 6
  16. The Crew needs to give him a 6-year, $120 mil offer and hope for the best.
  17. I would love to have a young guy who played big league ball fairly recently. Two smart ballplayers that are currently in broadcasting that would come to mind would be Mark Grace and John Kruk. Both would greatly loosen up the tention in the clubhouse. If I were GM I would personally hire Grace.
  18. Would Coop come back to Milwaukee now? A candidate I would like to see that is way out there would be Mark Grace. He was one of the smartest baseball players I have ever seen. I know people would probably struggle with a former Cub managing the Crew.
  19. Definitely an error. Someone who has done this for 20 years should know better than to call that a hit. Then he says that LaRoche was 2/3 of the way down the line? What replay was he watching? He wasn't even half way there yet when CC dropped it. The moment is lost even if they overturn it now. It should have been changed by the end of the inning and it wasn't. Typical homer scoring. Too bad.
  20. I am somewhat worried about that road trip and if we could go 5-5 I would be happy. However, I think the Cubs will now sweep the Phillies since they won last night. If the Brewers can hold their own and continue to knock off the struggling Pirates like they should, the Crew could be 7 games ahead of the Phillies at the end of the weekend. Then we return home for the next 10 and can really distance ourselves from the Phillies before we get there. I also expect the Cards to drop two out of 3 in Houston and then they go to Arizona for 3 more so we can definitely make up some ground now. We need to take advantage cause Philly ends the season at home with 6 home games vs Atlanta and Washington. That kinda scares me, but Philly really doesn't have the pitching so hopefully they drop a couple of those games. I would feel a lot better right now if we didn't blow that lead in the 8th against St Louis. I hope dropping that game doesn't come back to bite us. At least 10 of our next 13 games are against Pittsburgh, SD, and Cincy.
  21. Great game to be at. I said to my brother that it is wierd that there hasn't been an HR today and on the next pitch Cam launches into the left field bleachers. In the 12th when Weeks came up I told my wife that Ricky is gonna walk, steal 2nd, and JJ will single him in. Man I love it when I am right! Go CREW!
  22. As long as the Crew weathers the storm when they go on the road in the middle of September with 4 at philly, 3 @ Chi, and 3 @ Cin the chances are very good.
  23. I think it will be the same as it is this year. That is unless the Crew can find a way to re-sign CC(which is doubtful) then Cam's option wouldn't be picked up.
  24. AJ Pierzinski, Carlos Zambrano, Aramis Ramirez, John Rocker, Ryan Dempster, Jim Edmonds, and any player from the NY Yankees.
