  1. Even though Coco was brought into a situation that does not have a high probabilty of success (bases loaded, no outs), it was great to see him on the mound when the Brewers wond the game. I have been waiting for the moment to win a game when he was pitching. I know he was not technically the pitcher of record, but it was still fun to see that and hopefully we can get to him again and make him blow a save if necessary in the 2nd half.
  2. In September I would let him PH and then bring in a Mel Stocker or TGJ to Pinch run if he gets on. Honestly yesterday I was almost bummed out when Counsell pinch hit for him in the 9th. Once they brought in Coco it had to be done though as I am not sure how CC would have fared against a pitcher like that.
  3. It would be nice to have him and Sheets long term. If we can get rid of some big salaries this would be great. Unforunately it is unlikely however.
  4. It would be a big pickup if he could even come out or the pen in September and October. Even that though is probably wishful thinking.
  5. Ricky has proven that he can turn it on in the 2nd half. I would like to think that if he can limit his K's in the 2nd half, his bat has shown some signs of life as of late and I think he could still manage to salvage a decent season. I don't think he should be hitting leadoff either, but the only problem is that no one else can. It would be nice if he could hit 6th behind Hart where he could just concentrate on driving guys in, not his OBP.
  6. He is relatively young yet and he has been used frequently. If Panella wouldn't trot him out there in games that he shouldn't be pitching (such as the 19-5 debacle at Wrigley earlier this year, maybe he wouldn't have become as ineffective as he has lately.
  7. McClung to bullpen. He is reported to be suffering from a "dead" arm right now. Why not limit his innings. He doesn't throw more than 5 anyway in a game.
  8. If anyone has 4 tickets that they are looking to sell for the JJ Hardy Bobble Head day on 8/24 please let me know. My son is a big JJ fan and I would like to take him that day to get the Hardy bobblehead.
  9. A buddy of mine who is a Cubs fan is excited about this deal because he feels that they didn't give up much to make this trade happen. I told him that I would be concerned. Why would Oakland trade their ace who is under contract for the next 1.5 seasons while they are still in the race? The only logical answer could be that he is about to have another injury and they know it. Otherwise they would hold on to him and deal him in the offseason to maximize their deal!
  10. Sheets as he should cost less than Sabathia.
  11. CC can be our best pinch hitter off the bench as well.
  12. A-Rod moved to 3B. Why not JJ?
  13. I thought the same thing. Where would he play?
  14. If anyone else is playing 2nd in September it may be Escobar if he is not traded.
  15. I don't know if I believe Rosenthal anyway now. He is reporting that the Brewers have offered LaPorta and Escobar for CC. There is no way they offer both those players for a rental.
  16. I would love to be in the drawing. Thanks.
  17. Mota and Shouse have suddenely become liabilties. Definitely need a starter and a reliever before the deadline. I actually would have been all for Gagne pitching the 9th. What did he throw like 12 pictches in the 8th. Run him out there again in the 9th.
  18. I thought Rosenthal reported a few weeks ago that the Orioles offered Weeks for Roberts straight up and Melvin turned it down. At least that is what Ken Rosenthal reported. I wouldn't do it just for the fact that I bet the Indians would love to have Brandon Phillips back and that is what Weeks will be in 2 years.
  19. Ben might start in the AS game. Plus they could reset the rotation after the ASG if they don't do anything now and he can pitch that Friday after.
  20. 2008 Rays=2007 Brewers, Will maybe finish 83-79
  21. The Mets gave up next to nothing for Johan. Why would anyone offer their best prospects for Bedard?
  22. Gwynn, Hall, Bush, & Zack-Jack
  23. Why should we give up LaPorta or Gamel to get CC? Honestly what did the Mets give up to get Johan? I would rather have Johan than CC. Plus since the teams that would want CC have no high rated prospects other than the Yankees, why should we offer our highest rated when our 2nd rate prospects are better than what anyone else can give up? As for being the team to watch in the 2nd half, definitely. I fully expect the Crew to pass the Cards before the break and then at minimum be the favorite for the wild card. However, the Crew has played 36 games against teams above .500 and have only 27 remaining games against those types of teams. The Cubs have only played 18 games against teams above .500 and have 42 games remaining against teams of that caliber. The schedules even out in the 2nd half so I would not be shocked if the Crew can pass the Cubs. Plus this is the Cubs we are talking about. When is the last time they have won the division two years in a row? When they win the division they always choke the following year.
