  1. Is there an AI on the market that isn't built on training it's data using an LLM though?
  2. It's too bad because 30 years ago this Series has all the drama potential of an all time classic.
  3. I had to step away from the radio for just a bit, what exactly happened on that double play that it was reviewed?
  4. So I read a bit about the Penn State firing and I think what it really shows is just how fast this whole pay everyone thing collapsed into a complete pile of garbage. Traditional powers are having serious trouble in this environment, so at the moment I'm not sure if any coach is going to be successful.
  5. I think its very important to remember and factor in the Cubs still own the tiebreaker for the division. Hopefully that doesnt come back to haunt the Brewers in the NLCS! You neglected to mention their soft schedule, they don't have to face a single team with a winning record for the rest of the season.
  6. Until late in the game yesterday the Cubs didn't have any offense outside of the 1st inning during the series. Saturday is basically a coin flip looking at all the high level stuff. We dominated game 1 and 2, game 3 was close and got hammered yesterday so I'm not worried more than it's one game between 2 evenly matched teams. For me the missed opportunities I look at the 8th inning of game 3. I'm pretty confident that if we just tie the game at that point we find a way to win, because up to that point the only Cubs offense was the first inning and we still had solid arms to use if the game goes into extras, and after those first 2 games I'd imagine letting the score get tied again would be pretty deflating.
  7. I can live with either outcome, but going great defense and having 'Reggie' Jackson Chourio sitting on the bench to pinch hit if needed still seems like a trying to win strategy, and not just a hoping for the best alternative.
  8. Score 9 again with Ashby on the mound then put Quintana out there...
  9. Not just two walks to Ortiz, but two walks that load the bases definitely surreal.
  10. More guys warming in the pen already...
  11. I wonder if that soft schedule made the Cubs Defense look good?
  12. 4+ run inning and the bullpen move already. Not enough emojis to cover this
  13. I appreciate the radio team already joking about Perkins drawing a walk to load the bases for Ortiz.
  14. Bullpen warming up in the first an error, great stuff already
  15. I would think looking at a few other projection systems would give some insight about whether the same teams were being consistently under or over estimated.
  16. A thought while thinking about Cleveland's surge. Are both teams getting the Uecker benefit? Worst to First after 2 of your better players get sidelined due to an investigation certainly could be the plot to Major League 4.
  17. Not a direct answer, but at this point for the Brewers I tend to not put as much weight on closeness to MLB as I used too. It is still a factor, but now that our player development is so much better those tools and ceiling are going to rate a little better for me.
  18. Probably, but the example isn't really important. All measurements have accuracy limits and trying to push technology into areas well beyond our own eyesight's accuracy leaves things open to very goof weird exploits that are not part of the game.
  19. I would prefer the team get at least 1 more win to set a new mark for best record. Would have loved to be able to get to 100 regular season wins too, but best record ever and #1 seed is a nice achievement to have in place headed into the playoffs.
  20. It was a hypothetical example of how imagining we have unlimited precision isn't really a thing. In this case maybe one team figures out an epoxy for pitchers to wear on their nails and they just pick at a seam a bit to raise it. The balls go out of play often enough that it would be a 1 sided benefit.
  21. I believe based on the example from tennis above that the concern over fake accuracy of the ABS system is real. It is generally more accurate than umpires of course, but just like every measurement tool it has a limit to it's accuracy. Do we really want seam-gate when a team finds a way to get the seams to stick out just a little more and see if the ABS system can pick up that extra mm?
