    Sanchez may just be in a funk, and I think Quero still benefits from regular work to see how well he can get his throwing arm. Back-up catcher mid year is also a bit tricky for learning the different pitchers. I'm on record as thinking there is no need for a mop-up duty guy at all, we have plenty of options that can give some length, so just add another one of those options and give all of them a mix of longer outings and 1 inning stints to stay fresh. I bet in the long run that makes it easier to cover more innings from the pen and also prevents the couple of top guys running out of gas in August issue. As far as Super 2 and Williams I give that a week or,so but we have an important series with the Cards this week. And it's also worth acknowledging that since the CBA is up there is no guarantee that I am aware of that Super 2 will work the same way in the future.

    I suspect moreso than we are used to having a place for guys to be promoted becomes a factor with the depth of the system. On the low end waiting for the draft and that influx of players also plays a role I would imagine. In the past the team has talked about making sure guys are ready in a way that suggests they are probably looking at other things in some fashion as well like maturity perhaps and certainly aspects of defense. The way so many young players seem to fit in once they are on the MLB team suggests they are doing something about teaching how to be part of the clubhouse.

    With Hall, Patrick, Ashby, and Drohan already the team we don't need a traditional sacrificial long reliever, just someone else you can plug in a little more regularly and get a solid inning out of so they don't go too long in between appearances. Gasser might actually be that guy and have Crow starting.

    I watched the condensed game this morning and thought it was noteworthy that one of the Dodger announcers was speculating how much longer Rengifo would be part of the Brewers after that defensive showing.

    I'm thinking they are hoping someone between Rengifo, Ortiz, and Hamilton provides enough offense to be a solid option for ABs on the left side of the IF and then Williams can still be a primary 3rd base but also slide into the OF from time to time and bump Perkins. I think Lara getting promoted this year requires Garret to not be viable. That said if he keeps hitting with his defense it becomes difficult to not try and put your best players on the field this year

    I would guess they would try and stagger any promotions for a variety of reasons, for example if you promote Williams, you still have Pratt available if for some reason Jett really struggles. I suspect Ortiz finds a way to stick around because of the glove even if that seems redundant with Pratts skill set.

    I'm all for improving, but I feel like our next most likely peak is yet to come with so many guys coming up at our weaker positions.

    Woody is a solid data point for what a typical pitching career looks like anymore. I'd be willing to explore something with Harrison because with him having a bit more experience you might have a better sense of what he can handle as a workload. And maybe if you run the numbers because it took him awhile to have success he might find a price point where he'll take some more money now, buyout maybe 1 FA year and get some solid certainty, while still having a chance to sign a big contract later if things go well.

    Only had 3 games so far this month where the pitching allowed 4 or more runs. You can win a lot of games that way.

    I'm still trying to decide which was more fun to watch Hamilton's Little League HR, or the Prince Fielder inside the park HR at the Metrodome. I think Fielder wins by a nose but mostly because I was at that game in person.

    I end up listening on the radio a lot, so North Shore Adult Diapers are the official sponsor of all pitching changes, so every night has the chance for good chuckles on the radio. Somewhere Ueck is having a heck of a laugh at it all.

    Winning makes it a little bit easier to wait, but Super 2 status or not I want to stop feeling like we are throwing away quite so many ABs

    Load management is almost certainly going to be a thing as well as the season goes on, so would I rather have him throw that 1 more inning now or in October and then decision makes a lot of sense. In the moment I certainly wanted him to go out for 1 more, but I have no issue with the decision not to force it. Hopefully we have another good RISP game today and can use the back end guys to mop up the sweep.

    It is entirely possible the team is not quite fully embracing piggyback starters but has found enough arms that can go more than an inning at a time that Patrick along with Drohan are in these new roles where sometimes they are traditional come in for an inning guys, but also there when you need a longer stint and you can still remain in the game. It's hard to argue with the results at the moment. And while Sproat may eventually end up in a similar role he is young enough it is worth trying to see if you can build him up because he has the stuff to absolutely match Miz and Harrison as weapons in the rotation.

    So I was intrigued on the scoring for Made's walk off. Even with it being a ground rule double they still only credited him with a single. I had seen plenty of other doubles get down graded in walk-off situations but I don't recall a ground rule one happening before.
