    You now have an increasing percentage of the league going this way, potentially a big enough chunk that you can seriously threaten to lift the blackout restrictions in local markets in exchange for better revenue sharing. That's the real angle. And how many cable subscribers would jump off in LA or NYY since they already get MLB.tv for free as part of T-mobile? The biggest nuisance is that neither of my Smart TVs let me download new streaming apps, so I have to screen cast from my lap top.

    I feel like someone had written a story a while ago about 1 part of what the Brewers are doing that seems to cause a lot of the projections systems to keep under estimating them, but don't remember what it was specifically.

    I strongly suspect Suarez is the bigger risk to just absolutely fall apart. Even in the modern environment a small decline and I think that offense only profile just falls apart.

    90's Cleveland Indians are a good example of surplus. Sure maybe 'development' involved extra tools not available today but at the end of the day they cranked out a large number of guys who could mash in OF and 1B

    I double checked and yep Terry Bradshaw only had 2 more TDs in his career than INTs

    I don't see an extension making much sense for either side when it comes to Vaughn or the Brewers. He's already gotten double digit millions, and even if non-tendered he can still likely squeeze out a few more million somewhere else. So he isn't likely to do a steep discount, and there's no real defense or base running to help support the bat so if the end of year improvements don't stick even $10 million a year looks like wasted money really fast. I think there are plenty of reasons to believe he will be worth the salary, but we have too many reasonable options for 1st base after this year. If he has a big year I also don't think the 1 year big arby number is a problem either. So I put a trade at less than 50%. The other two though seem highly likely

    Catcher really feels like the big wild card. So many infield guys and a bunch of corner guys that it seems likely that we will have good options for awhile. Quero's development though is a big question and with only Dinges at the moment there just isn't the same level of depth. Not that I would call it a 'problem' but it is the position with the most potential to prove challenging to fill and come close to replacing Contrearas contributions.

    I've long been curious how Tyler Black's initial debut would have gone if he had the ABS system. He got the rookie treatment on a bunch of takes right away and I got the impression it put him out of his normal game as he tried to adjust.

    It's also what they generally try and do, stack up a number of different options and then let the combination of development and injuries sort things out. Which I'm guessing means there is still a solid chance that Mitchell ends up influencing where Jett starts the season as well.

    It's nice that the Packers are trying to help sell Brewer tickets.

    Thinking a bit more, both Williams and Sproat have a real chance to be end of the year contributors. The beginning of the season matters of course but with the teams make-up and history they can afford a small drop in team quality at the front of the season for chances that they have guys who develop well and performing in Sept and Oct.

    I'll second the increased revenue sharing. MLB needs to increase the share of licensing paid in to use the MLB name, and with so many regional networks collapsing they should be effectively forcing revenue sharing by letting MLB.TV compete with no blackouts in local markets.

    Thinking about Jett as more of a super sub type that ends up getting starter ABs certainly seems to look good are a righty complementing Frelick, Turang, Mitchell, and then as a rare SS option. That said it would be nice if at least 1 of the 2 stepped up to really contribute this year.

    I at least understand it a bit more at UW, because I definitely met plenty of people when I was a student, who went for the parka once it hit freezing because they thought that was what people meant by cold weather.

    Regardless of who wins at this point how many other Super Bowl winners of the past would be convincingly worse then whoever is left?

    The head to head money isn't a direct comparison for rookie salaries, but I still think it changes your options. In general if I was a top college QB, I'd be pretty inclined to take the safe college money for my 4 years and then get my big rookie contract knowing that a lot of good college QBs washout because they end up on bad teams.

    Yep, and as an offensive guru it probably only takes a couple of first downs in the 3rd quarter to keep the defense off the field a little more to hold up.

    In the abstract sense of wanting to get the most value out of a trade the possibility of losing leverage is not great. But any pick is OK with me, saves the buy out money and pulls some talent back in. If some how they got a 1st or second rounder that would be incredible. A 3rd feels like a good get to me.

    How many teams would need to distribute through MLB TV for their local broadcasts to the point you could basically still just Broadcast road game feeds in the home market of the home teams and offer a cheaper option?

    You also want to look like your a team player as you get ready for that next contract. So yes you publicly say supportive things. You may also get traded or want to sign with his next team, etc.

    MLB should find a way to restrict the extreme amount of deferrals or it risks a rather wild situation with a team going bankrupt. Markets don't continue to forever increase in value at these levels.
