  1. I don't think extending catchers is a good idea. Maybe the buy out 1-2 FA seasons early in the career version. However the close to FA prices just leave too much room for a big rapid decline in value at that position. So I don't have a problem with them trying to run cheap here and possibly upsetting the player.
  2. Man did the Pirates end up with the short end of the stick in that proposal though. Granted the author admitted it was just a quick version he put together.
  3. 30 transactions in a month seems like a crazy number of roster moves.
  4. I wonder how much of that price difference for pitching WAR factors into the Brewers strategy to emphasize defense so much.
  5. It is crazy to think both how much Judge is paid and the fact that it was still a huge surplus value year from the Yankees perspective.
  6. Maybe our plan for defense should be to have the remaining d-line not named Van Ness all wear Myles Garret masks and see if other teams are as scared.
  7. I imagine more people will keep things turned off as this continues. I know it makes it easy for me to stay disengaged.
  8. Yes that close to the sideline you have to use it to your advantage and attack the ball with an angle where you either get it or it bounces out/ can't be recovered in bounds.
  9. I have no issue with someone suggesting the Bears can make it to the Super Bowl, but the day after you need 3 fumbles , an onside kick, and playing the 2nd string QB most of the game to notch an OT win? There's nothing scary about that. As others have said there isn't a dominant team or even anyone with a strong case for serious momentum.
  10. My chuckle of the day was a clickbait article title suggesting that the Bears were the team everyone was most scared of in the playoffs.
  11. If feel like we have been dancing around this, but do the Brewers feel like they have figured out a system for developing mostly speed guys to maximize their power output?
  12. Absolutely but as long as the money stays unequal it cant get to the football level of crazy.
  13. Despite the loss college volleyball is way more watchable these days than football.
  14. If Watson is still around there's a chance the offense can just get hot in the playoffs. Not likely, but worth still tuning in. Stats wise Nix looked like it was hands down the better game, but Love was making some crazy good throws, and we kept missing pick chances so in some ways the game could have easily been a 40 something-20 something route
  15. The future of football, and we're halfway there, is playing to go 10-7 so that your key guys are available in January. Every sport has followed this trajectory. Going to the 17 game schedule was a mistake. And I fear you are correct. I enjoy the long baseball season and the resting of guys just feels different there. But I always appreciated the idea in football that every game was impactful.
  16. I was wondering about Woodson to shore up the secondary myself.
  17. Not opposed to seeing what folks want for Mears.
  18. I was going to go with "Phillies pay even more to run it back". And "the Dodgers agree to contribute more to the luxury task for a reliever"
  19. Repeat of the Halloween MNF game in the downpour. Ugly on both sides, but Watson channels Robert Brooks for a surprise 99 yd TD.
  20. I wonder if the Brewers have intentionally not had the Miz work on anything related to seam shifted wake, to improve his control first? It also leaves open the possibility of extra wrinkles down the road, which is a frightening thought.
  21. Given that on the stats side it was basically a coin flip to go for it on the last 4th down I don't mind. But whether you are willing to go for it or not, but especially if you are then running the ball on 3rd to get it down to a 1:20 second game before you punt is a must in that case.
  22. It does create a bit of an incentive for a player like Jackson to sign an extension too which is interesting. Even with the extension in place 400K is still a solid add on.
  23. It could just crush the Dodgers finances because of all that deferred money. But getting better defacto revenue sharing would be a positive.
  24. Wins are better than losses, but the team feels solidly less than the sum of its parts. I didn't mind a clunker or two in October, but it time for the team to be growing.
  25. Part of it is also playing a lot of the young guys, so they aren't stacking up behind a bunch of guys in their 30's.
