I don't know about that, Lawrie stinks as well.

In cases like today against Sabathia I would rather have Weeks batting than a lefty like Gindl. It is time for Weeks to go.

Regarding Lawrie, actions speak louder than words. In three of the last four games before his injury he was playing second to make room for Francisco.

I am all for a backup catcher that had a decent average and on base. Just fear that in the majors those singles turn to easy outs with the better defense and defensive shifts.
  5. Outlander
Francisco is playing quite a bit of 3B though so he is not strictly a DH. Might even force them to play Lawrie at 2B when he returns.

I have my doubts, last I checked his slugging was less than his on base. Could be a decent backup option if his defense isn't a liability.

Since the Cubs were mentioned I'm pretty confident the Cubs will claim Wang if he goes through waivers, the Pirates are not getting this guy back.

I'll go with the same record as last month, 20-8.

Saw the last three innings this morning on MLBtv using the Cardinals feed. Had no idea Tim McCarver was still doing Cardinals games, almost feel sorry for their fans.

Honestly don't think it is worth the money to keep Hellweg, just release him.
  11. Outlander
I would guess three years in the minors as he has all his options.

This is many months from now but I don't recall playoff teams with a rule 5 guy. Does Wang have to be on the playoff roster or be offered back to the Pirates?
  13. Outlander
It would look bad but I imagine Hellweg would be in danger of losing his spot since he is out of options. Is there some exception out there where he could be placed on the 60 day DL. Something like demoting Figaro, bringing up Hellweg then putting on DL and activating Kintzler?
  14. Outlander
When watching highlights and he is announcing I am impressed but when watching the actual game not so impressed.

I continue to find it amusing that there are still people that think Weeks will magically turn thing around and become a good player again. It doesn't matter what he did a few years ago he isn't any good now and really there is no reason to put quotes in the word bad because he is a bad player, just accept it and move on.

Ever since Miller Park was constructed the business community has done a real good job with Miller Park Way but there is only so much that can be done with the VA taking so much space near the Park and the wasteland known as the Menomonee Valley. Maybe things will pick up once the Potowotomi Hotel is built.

It may be too late now but I wish the Brewers could get something of value for Hellweg as I don't see him contributing anything to the major league club.
  18. Outlander
I think there might be some truth to this. I predict he pitches twice this weekend.

Morris will be 25 all baseball season. I still have faith in him and am much higher on him than most and just think he needs a little more time in AAA. It would be great if he could replace Overbay at some point during the year.
  20. Outlander
At this point the Brewers should just send Henderson down until he gets back to where he needs to be and bring up Wooten.
  21. Outlander
Looks like the Brewers signed the wrong has beens as McGehee has a 1.434 OPS and 8 RBI already.
  22. Outlander
I seem to recall in the past Brewers being ejected for just slamming their helmet after being called out so will probably happen at some point as players instantly react sometimes.
  23. Outlander
That right there gives me hope they can win it all. Why not Wisconsin.
  24. Outlander
Will be going, really looking forward to the great weather Monday morning when tailgating.

Still had control problems this spring but he made the Blue Jays roster. Imagine he will have a short leash if he can't find the strike zone.
