  1. I was able to nabe four in the terrace box slightly to the left of home plate, I'll take that.
  2. I guess I understand why there would be no family section but I don't think that is fair to season ticket holders that buy seats in the family section. I would still try to cater somewhat to the season ticket holder versus the people that like to show up once a year to a party.
  3. The math just doesn't add up, over the last twenty years or so the hall only averages 1.5 players elected by the writers every year. There are too many good players on the ballot over the next five years for him to get 75% of the vote. I don't have anything against him and think he is a great player but the way the voting is set up and timing of retirements I would say he has no chance on the first ballot.
  4. The problem there is you can only vote for ten guys and with all the performancing enhancing stuff out there it is possible to see this list in Hoffman's first year: Barry Bonds Roger Clemens Curt Schilling Ken Griffey Jr (1st year) Trevor Hoffman (1st year) John Smoltz Gary Sheffield (1st year) Tim Raines Fred McGriff Larry Walker Edgar Martinez Sammy Sosa Mike Mussina (1st year) Allan Trammell Mark McGwire Rafael Palmeiro So right there I think there are 16 players that deserve serious consideration and the list above assumes guys like Jeff Bagwell, Barry Larkin, Craig Biggio, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Jeff Kent and Mike Piazza get elected over the next 4 years.
  5. Yeah, he is a hall of famer but he has no shot at getting in first ballot.
  6. I was selected too, now I don't have to wait in line next week.
  7. Yeah, I would decline that prize, I'm not paying federal and state taxes of over a grand to play softball.
  8. It is fairly impressive in person and I'm sure the picture quality will be amazing.
  9. I would think Cirillo would get more support, same with Scott.
  10. That might be a little risky considering his age but I wouldn't be surprised if he retired after this year anyways.
  11. Pretty much what was expected, would have liked Raines to get a bigger bump. Surprised by how high Alomar's percentage was and how low Palmeiro's was.
  12. I was there last weekend and it was not up yet.
  13. That is most impressive, congratulations.
  14. It confused me also, if it's just a hypothetical I guess I don't understand why it's not in transaction rumors/proposals.
  15. Does anybody know why Corey Maggette has had so few minutes the last few games. Is he hurt or are guys like CDR and Ilyasova just taking time away from him?
  16. On Dave Parker's second year on the ballot he had 24.5%, which was Blyleven's first year, he had 17.5%. It's interesting how some guys are able to gain momentum while others can never gain steam or even lose votes in Parker's case.
  17. Will get in: Alomar, Blyleven I would vote for: Alomar, Blyleven, Bagwell, Larkin, Parker, Raines, McGriff, Walker.
  18. I like the Samsung LCD/LED and the Panasonic Plasma sets. Pioneer was nice also but not an option anymore. Contrary to what another poster said I would go as large as possible. If money is tight I would even go with a 720P Samsung or Panasonic that is 50 inches, over a 1080 P set 42 inches or less every time.
  19. I probably wouldn't vote for any of those guys in but would consider Dick Allen, and Lou whitaker never really had a chance. Hopefully they do this at least every few years so a guy like Dave Parker also gets a chance once his 15 years are over.
  20. Just wanted to follow up on this as I actually reserved tickets. I reserved ALCS tickets for the Twins in July as I have never been to the ALCS or NLCS. In September I reserved Giants tickets to the NLCS when the Padres tanked in hopes that I could sell the Giants tickets and use that money to pay for the Twins tickets. The Twins reservation ended up being wasted but fortunately the Giants advanced. I spent $62 for two ticket reservations for the Twins and Giants. The Giants tickets ended up being first row in the upper deck and they cost $80 for the pair and overnighted the tickets, I was surprised they didn't offer them electronically though. I could not choose my seats, they told me what my seats would be. I ended up selling them for $198 after Stubhub fees so the net profit was $56. Overall, I had a good experience and since I won't be able to go to many regular season games next year I'll probably reserve NLDS and NLCS tickets for the Brewers next year for $50 if it looks like they might have a decent team.
  21. I don't understand why the writers would vote McGehee for MVP but am apathetic towards the Brewers at this point and just want to forget about this season.
  22. ^ Agreed, when giving out season grades it is valid to bring up his poor run production with RISP. If they can't bring up things like that there is no point in giving annual grades and might as well wait until his career is over before evaluating his performance. It's not like they are saying they shouldn't resign him because he can't hit with runners in scoring position.
  23. I got 136, would have done a lot better if I remembered Jaha and Vina. Glad that I have put behind the memories of Alex Sanchez. I would have never have guessed Dicki Thon or Derrick May even if I had 24 hours.
  24. And neither are going to come anywhere close to winning it this year.
  25. It would take a Cy Young type year for me to vote for a pitcher so I exclude them right off the bat. If I was just looking at the final stats I might say Braun but he was so brutal in June and July and they never were serious playoff contenders in large part because of that. Fielder was good throughout the year and even though it is is probably just a fluke he was so bad with runners in scoring position and hit too many solo shots. Weeks numbers look good overall but only had a couple of really good months. That leaves Hart who I would say has the best overall numbers and was also the most consistent for the entire year which I consider quite an accomplishment for him. Hart is the MVP of this team.
