  1. Holy cow that cutoff is low this year, guess it was bound to happen if everybody waits to bring up prospects.
  2. Maybe not but all of those guys joined/rejoined the team late August or into September. They were not one of the top 25 guys on this year's team so might as well trim the fat and payroll and not make them a top 26 guy on the 2020 team. Could even see Spangenberg nontendered if they try to upgrade SS and make Arcia more of the utility guy.
  3. Chase Anderson – $10.3MM – club option for $8.5MM Pick up option but keep trade options open Jimmy Nelson – $3.7MM Non Tender Hernan Perez – $3.0MM Non Tender Corey Knebel – $5.125MM Tender Alex Claudio – $2.2MM Tender Travis Shaw – $4.7MM Non Tender Manny Pina – $2.2MM – club option for $1.85MM with a $150K buyout Pick up option Cory Spangenberg – $1.5MM Tender but believes he gets more since it is his second year of arbitration Zach Davies – $5.0MM Tender Junior Guerra – $3.5MM Tender Tyler Saladino – $1.0MM Non Tender as he is out of options Orlando Arcia – $2.7MM Tender Ben Gamel – $1.6MM Tender Brent Suter – $900K Tender but he gets more Tyler Austin – $1.2M Non Tender
  4. It was okay there but it ran its course. it still was busy during game day but I can see it struggling non game days since it is a chain and nobody would really go out of the way to visit this location. Looking forward to trying out the new place.
  5. Faria is tough because if he is given a starting sport Stearns will probably get criticized pretty badly when he doesn't work out. He had a good start when he was a rookie but has been pretty bad the last couple of years including his time in the minors. I guess the 26th man will help and not quite as hard to keep on the team but they have others like Black/Taylor Williams/Houser that they can't option anymore either if they struggle.
  6. I pretty much dislike everybody in the NL. It is more wanting to see the other team lose than rooting for a team to win. It was kind of hilarious to see the Nationals pitching implode but then the cameras cut away to the few Braves fans there doing their tomahawk chop thing that is so cringe. Same with the Dodgers/Cards, it was entertaining to see Martinez blow it with two outs in the ninth in front of their crowd but who roots for the Dodgers.
  7. I also think it was the intention to go two but wasn't going to happen. Believe Soto was his last hitter no matter what.
  8. Stearns has obviously shown interest in Wheeler in the past so will be interesting to see if the Brewers make an offer.
  9. Going back to the Mariners and their outfield maybe see if they would trade Hanniger for a guy like Grisham since Hanniger had an off year and will start making money in arbitration. Brewers could certainly use another right handed bat and Hanniger can play and sub for Yelich/Braun/Cain. I'm sure a ruptured testicle and bad back is a good reason to have an off year.
  10. travis shaw has an option remaining. it's very likely that the brewers will sign him to a split contract with a more generous minor league salary than that of similar age players. Isn't there some sort of wording in the collective bargaining that he can't make less than his previous year salary so if he is on the 40 man he would still be making $5 million a year even if he was optioned?
  11. With Shaw can they DFA him and outright to the minors? Usually with arbitration eligible players you tender or non them a contract but if they were able to DFA him who would claim him and be willing to pay him 5-6 million a year in arbitration.
  12. The Phillies were obviously much better than the Brewers in 2008 and breezed through the playoffs rather easily against the Dodgers and Rays as well, it was one of those playoff losses that actually wasn't a gut punch. It still stunk to lose at Miller Park in Game 4 but it was a fun run. I still say that Game 3 at Miller Park which was the first playoff game in Milwaukee in over 25 years was the most fun I ever had at a Brewers game, the crowd was electric and so pumped to win that game. It has been nice to to be in the playoffs more recently but losing to the Cardinals in the NLCS at home, Dodgers in game 7 of the NLCS at home and then losing at Washington the way they did is just so miserable.
  13. I would like to think the Brewers are very aware of which guys struggle against which of their relievers. I would hope so, just seeing a bunch people listing their scenarios of who to pitch including yourself and Peralta has not been mentioned. Peralta is a weapon.
  14. I hope that is not a set policy that they employ tonight. If the pitcher's spot comes up in the 2nd inning and Woodruff looked good in the first. Gotta let him bat (he's a decent hitter as well). Maybe even let him go 3 innings if he's pitching well. Same with Suter. I hate to see them get too "cute" with pitchers tonight. Should allow Suter to go more than 2 innings if he's cruising and the it's a close game or the Brewers are up. Obviously, some of that depends on the situation when the pitcher's spot comes up. With runners in scoring position and 1 out or less, then yes, I get pinch hitting for the pitcher. To me it would be ideal if the Brewers don't use any pitchers tonight beyond Woodruff, Suter, Pomeranz, Lyles, and Hader. I think Peralta should be used against a tough righty if the situation arises. Rendon has done nothing against Peralta.
  15. Correct, he is 3-4 times better than Braun LOL.
  16. Nope, they are still in the playoffs, won't be forfeiting.
  17. Saying Peralta should have pitched over Black is not over the top. Not exactly going out on a limb saying Peralta is better than Black. Peralta has been dominant at Coors and had not pitched since Sunday. Lots has been made of the Cubs B squad but that was the Brewers B/C squad of pitching from the 6th on, nice job by Davies.
  18. As long as the Indians win tonight the game Saturday will for sure still mean something. If the Brewers do their part they should at least have the top Wild Card.
  19. Bigger and longer is subjective, a two year deal isn't too risky and they would have to acquire a 3B one way or the other. He has been good and is worth good money.
  20. I think the Cubs will put up a good effort Saturday. Hamels is looking to end the season on a high note and get paid in free agency. Has made comments he wants to stay in the NL Central so will want to impress the Cubs, Cardinals and perhaps even the Brewers.
  21. I don't know, the Indians are real good, think they win 2.
  22. Arcia and Castillo is just one of those weird matchups where the lesser batter owns the superior pitcher. No Brewers has more at bats against Castillo than Arcia and Arcia is hitting over 400 against him.
  23. The Brewers will probably go with a five man bench in the playoffs and Spangenberg, Perez, Pina and Gamel look like near locks. Depends if they want RH power (Austin) or LH power (Shaw) off the bench.
