  1. Garcia declined his option and became a free agent. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/avisail-garcia-brewers-declines-option-free-agent.html
  2. Nope. Re-signing him would be like the Packers re-signing Kevin King… another mistake.
  3. My credit for DS game 5 and the 4 games of the CS showed up today on my credit card account as pending today. Same for my game 5 DS and my two CS games.
  4. I think this front office is trying for as many bites at the postseason apple as possible. The large majority of their decisions, the Yelich deal aside, are geared toward protecting the long-term sustainability of maintaining an above average roster. It’s probably the right strategy, and teams like the Giants have proven you don’t have to be the best team in order to win the World Series, but I’m getting to the point where I wouldn’t hate seeing them mortgage a little bit of the future in order to put together better rosters for 2022 and 2023. This. They can continue to be competitive with the current strategy, but unfortunately the likelihood that the win a World Series could be relatively low compared to the other postseason teams. You need to be better (not necessarily the best) at all aspects (pitching, offense, and defense) in order to win, and even then there’s a lot of luck. If they’d bump up the payroll for the next few years to strengthen the offense I think they’d have a legitimate chance.
  5. I must not have stated this as I intended to. I’m not saying the offense would have put up 4 or more runs in game 3. What I intended was that they may have not gotten shut out if it wasn’t such a large deficit (in regards to the Brewers struggling offense) that they were trying to overcome. And if they didn’t allow 3 runs, maybe it could have been more like a game 1 situation.
  6. They got shut out in game 3. Cannot win without runs no matter how well the pitcher pitches, so really while Counsell decided to abandon his strength in that game (pitching) to try to get some runs, it really didn't matter in the outcome.. unless of course you think Peralta would've homered or something. I’d imagine that the offense started pressing more when they were down 3-0 since they knew how hard runs were to come by. That likely could have resulted in worse at bats than if it were still 0-0 out they were only down by one run. Maybe they would have squared up and hit a HR. We’ll never know, but the game could have gone in a drastically different direction if they weren’t down by so many runs. This could have been accomplished by driving in the runs when Peralta was pulled or if Peralta stayed in and continued pitching well like he was.
  7. Are they really doing that? I hope not. It's time to let 1982 go. I would be very surprised if they didn’t have at least a weekend (or maybe a series against St. Louis) to celebrate this. They’ll continue to celebrate it until they meet or beat losing the World Series.
  8. I wouldn’t be opposed to the all-in strategy and then go to complete rebuild mode as I feel it’s our best bet to win a World Series. I’m seen enough crappy Brewers teams in my 42 years that I could easily handle a bunch more, especially if they won a World Series. Would absolutely stink to not win one going that route though. The Brewers won’t do this though since they can fill the seats more as long as the team is competitive. People in the seats equals more profit. Going into full rebuild mode will result in low attendance and lower profits.
  9. Keep on throwing that spaghetti against the wall. It hasn't stuck the first 1,000 times you did it. It ain't gonna stick now. The Brewers are a small market team, They aren't going to suddenly spend $200 million on player payroll. It just isn't going to happen. You need to understand that at some point. Never once have I believed or thought they would/could spend $200 million..but they COULD spend $150-$175 million. That would make a HUGE difference. Remember, they have gone as high as $125 mill before. They could do this if they wanted to go all in for the next few years and then cut payroll drastically after our window is done and go into a rebuilding phase. That may get us a World Series but they won’t do it because it’s much more profitable to be competitive year after year. Unfortunately that makes a World Series much more difficult. It’s the life of a small market team.
  10. I wonder if Hader and Yelich for essentially nothing in return would peak any rich team’s interest. Would suck to lose Hader without receiving any players in return, but freeing ourselves of Yelich’s contract would be huge. Of course, Yelich would return to MVP form after that…
  11. I thought this was the year. I didn’t think our offense would be garbage again though. And of course when we get some runs then our bullpen gives up too many. #SameOldBrewers
  12. This is why I thought it was a bad idea to pull Peralta after 4 when he was pitching so good. Our bullpen isn’t very good right now.
  13. The Braves are making harder contact this inning, thankfully have been foul. Probably will be the last inning for Lauer.
  14. Hogwash. We don’t bunt. Analytics is against it. But maybe that’s for teams that actually can hit the ball…
  15. And wasn’t it on only 3 days rest (which is unheard of nowadays)
