  1. Yes, let's move on.
  2. I'm saying in retrospect they chose poorly...because Raiders. Obviously, at the time it looked like GB would be the better team.
  3. How anyone can watch what's happening and not conclude Kidd was terrible is beyond me. He's an arrogant, stubborn sociopath whose personality has poisoned every city he's been in at some point. When he was playing, his talent made up for it. Coaching? Not so much. Not missing that isoball offense at all. I think Kidd would have been fine if he was a head coach in, say, 1995.
  4. DJ Wilson has gone from being a guy that was borderline headed to China to play next year to a guy that might end up as a pretty darn good NBA player. Amazing transformation that I doubt happens under Kidd.
  5. 1995 - Jimmy Key - $4,873,700 2018 - Zack Grienke - $34,000,000 The landscape has changed I have an apple. You have an orange. Greinke signed that deal in 2015.
  6. I think the bigger risk than health is if top tier salaries continue to drop.
  7. Does FIP and xFIP take into account defensive positioning? I feel like some of the "traditional" advanced metrics are now behind the curve in regards to pitching performance.
  8. I don't like guys that overly trim their eyebrows (I call it "The Molina") John Defillipo is an egregious offender.
  9. I believe we basically offered the same thing as the Bears. Raiders thought their draft picks would be better.....they chose poorly.
  10. Brogdon is shooting 90+% from the free throw line 50% + from 2pt and 40%+ from three. Yes he is benefitting from the new space this offense provides but he is lethal when he shoots it. I maintain he's really underrated on both ends of the court.
  11. Packers hire Nathanial Hackett for OC per NFL twitter feed.
  12. They are stuck as long as Angelos is alive.
  13. I want to add that I am just guessing. I have no idea if that's the case or not but it seems like they are pretty quick to trade them away. It could be that they think they can trade for guys that are young but already have a year in a system in lieu of drafting them.
  14. Again, the pool of available players league wide would be such that all those guys listed wouldn't be signing for massive deals so possible Brewers resign many of them. And you are listing guys that we'd lose but not thinking about who we might gain. It's not like those guys, if they left, would all be replaced by Johnny AAAA. It would make for a lot more roster turnover which is why as a fan I wouldn't like it (I prefer to watch guys on the same team for several seasons) but it would certainly allow players to get their "worth".
  15. Both. But I also think he feels draft picks outside the first round are heavily overvalued.
  16. I feel like Stearns would do something next off-season. Might depend on how some of the other guys perform though.
  17. I could have sworn that with deferred payments such as Ramirez, the Grandal signing, and now settled arby cases they're already over 120. $115 million includes Ramirez ($3million) https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/payroll/ Although looking at that again, there are a lot of pre-arb blanks so you might be right. My mistake.
  18. If we look at where he's been they've had some smaller slot guys: Taylor Gabriel in Atlanta, Jamison Crowder in Washington for example. Cooper Kupp is 6'2" but he is a really good slot guy too so at the very least he effectively uses that position. I'd imagine if Cobb is let go they'll sign someone. I like LouisEly's idea of signing Humphries.
  19. In 2014 the Brewers payroll was 15th in the league @$110 million. They are committed to $115 million so far this year. Given revenue increases they should be able to add more no problem. I would think they could start the year at $120 if they felt like it.
  20. They don't share that revenue, that's the beauty of it. Then what do they do with it? The amount you can spend on players is fixed so it doesn't help with that. Spend it on coaches, front office staff, scouts, and player amenities I suppose but I would guess when all that is totaled up, there isn't all that much of a variance between teams. Naming rights, branding, seat licensing, sponsorships etc. all go to the team. I think the Cowboys revenue was $840 million. Green Bay's was $455 million. Packers tend to put their excess into a reserve fund which is at roughly $380 million as of last summer. Jerry Jones has other ideas for his profits https://robbreport.com/motors/marine/dallas-cowboys-jerry-jones-250-million-superyacht-2837847/ https://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news/2018/07/18/dallas-cowboys-ranked-again-as-the-most-valuable.html https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/packers-financials-show-that-nfl-made-billions-despite-national-anthem-controversy/
  21. Revenue is up yet minor league salaries are a joke and people are paying more to go to games. There is more to it than just MLB salaries.
  22. I feel like the organizational structure of the Packers is considered a detriment when the team is doing poorly and is considered a strength when they are doing well.
  23. Does anyone know when the Brewers TV deal expires? Only thing I could find online was this from 2013: "Melvin said the Brewers will get $21 million for those rights this season, the first year in an extension agreed to in 2009. Sources have said the extension is through the end of the decade. So the Brewers' revenue from their local TV deal averages about $167 million less each year compared to the Dodgers." http://archive.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/200738381.html Looks like it expires after this season: "The Brewers contract with Fox Sports started in 2010 and runs through 2019, according to SportsBusiness Journal, a sister publication of The Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee." https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/blog/2013/04/brewers-earn-20-million-in-television.html I wonder how much more revenue that will provide? They kind of got shafted last go around since they signed their deal at the height of the recession.
  24. Confirmed - Pettine returning as DC.
  25. And your Milwaukee Brewers would truly become the Washington Generals. I dunno. There'd be so many guys as free agents it'd probably water down the total amount spent. Back in the day Charlie Finley, the A's owner, wanted every player to sign one year deals and every player would be a free agent each year. The players didn't want it because they knew it'd drive salaries down.
