  1. Right about now I think Cain would disagree with you. How do you think he feels right now? He's got the lead. No reason to give them a free runner in the 2nd inning.
  2. I wouldn't hate Molina so much if he just grew some eyebrows.
  3. Wow that German goal was amazing. I do think the current US squad is poised for some big things going forward. Pulisic is probably going to end up as the greatest American player of all time once it's all said and done.
  4. I think evolving bullpen use plays a roll. I'd love to see the numbers on how many more pitching changes there are versus 20 years ago. The mid-inning swaps are killers in terms of time wasted.
  5. I think it depends on if you think Anderson and Davies will round into form or not. At the end of the season Happ is probably going to have better numbers than every one of our starters not named Guerra (if not that is a good thing). He will cost more than Ponce.
  6. rick I missed your thread when I created this one. My bad! We will keep them separate for now.
  7. Wow. Hopefully Domingo finds his stroke and/or confidence in CS. I have a feeling we will need his bat (his bat from last year) later on this year.
  8. Some interesting comments on this in the in-game thread so I thought it warranted a topic all it's own. 30 K's and 6 hits yet yesterday's game took over 3 hours to complete. Boring? Enthralling? Neither? What are your thoughts?
  9. I think that was Schlenk saving face after the Doncic move. Don't think we're getting the whole story there.
  10. He looks like an elf from Lord of the Rings.
  11. Service time is service time regardless of the month. OK, not sure where I got that from. Maybe confusing things with guys signing major league deals back in the day.
  12. I will be very surprised if the Brewers call up Keston Hiura this September. It would start his service time clock potentially risking one less year of team control if he sticks in the majors the following season. It would also force the Brewers to unnecessarily add Hiura to the 40-man roster which is already facing many tough decisions about which players to either add or risk losing in the upcoming Rule 5 draft including... Jake Gatewood, Troy Stokes Jr., Luis Ortiz, Trey Supak, Bubba Derby, Kodi Medeiros, Cody Ponce, Phil Bickford, Nate Kirby, Quintin Torres-Costa, Jon Olczak, Jon Perrin, Nate Griep, Devin Williams, Nate Orf, Gilbert Lara, etc. Some of those players will inevitably be traded this deadline, but still some tough decisions likely ahead. I thought Sept call ups did not affect the arby clock? Maybe it's changed.
  13. I like Thomas a lot. DiVencenzo worries me....without that championship game performance is he even in the discussion? DJ Wilson had a nice tournament too.
  14. I'd buy low on Conforto.
  15. Over time small cap stocks out gain large caps. And if you are looking at a 15 - 20 year timeline then you have wiggle room with risk (obviously risk is personal though). So you could potentially put a large percentage in a small cap index fund. But if that is too risky by your standards then I'd probably just put almost all of it in a large cap index fund and let compounding interest work its magic. If you are are worried about inflation you can diversify and use part of it to invest in some real estate.
  16. Graham Mertz shut down his recruitment. Big win for UW.
  17. Ortiz looks to be on the verge of another nice performance. 2IP, 3K so far.
  18. Thanks. Fangraphs just had an article on Brewers success in 1 run games. Here is the blurb about the defense: The team’s 30-point improvement in defensive efficiency from 2017 (.684, eighth in the NL) to 2018 (.714, second behind the Cubs’ .719) is the league’s biggest jump. Newcomer Lorenzo Cain, the key to the team’s defensive turnaround, leads all center fielders in both UZR (4.7) and DRS (12), while Arcia is second among NL shortstops in UZR (3.8) and tied for first in DRS (9). Travis Shaw is tops among NL third basemen in DRS (7) and, in right, Santana has improved from -4.9 UZR and -5 DRS to 2.9 UZR and a league-high 7 DRS. With strong defensive contributions such as those, the position players’ standing in terms of WAR (9.3, fourth) is higher than in terms of wRC+ or scoring. Cain (2.5) ranks third in the league behind Freddie Freeman (3.2) and Nolan Arenado (2.6), while Shaw (2.0) is tied for 14th with Max Muncy (!). https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-brewers-and-one-run-success/
  19. I love it when the Flying Diplan Brothers pitch back to back.
