  1. You could do an entire thread on most anticipated movies of 2009. The one I'm looking forward to most is The Road.
  2. Yeah that's sort of what I was trying to get at but did not articulate it very well.
  3. "this guy lost $1,563.00 on bidding for a "free" $1000. " At least he got something for his $1563. What about the guy that lost $1562 and didn't win?
  4. You can dismiss PAP all you want but there is ample evidence that pitchers that appear regularly on the top five experience decline - oftentimes significant - shortly thereafter. The cause and effect can be debated but if I'm a small market team I don't ignore the data. Here are the top five in PAP for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008: 2005 Livan Hernandez Carlos Zambrano Mark Prior Aaron Harang Barry Zito 2006 Livan Hernandez Carlos Zambrano Aaron Harang Dontrelle Willis Jason Schmidt (Zito was 8th) 2007 Dice K Carlos Zambrano AJ Burnett Roy Halladay Aaron Harang (Livan Hernandez was 7th) 2008 Tim Lincecum CC Sabathia Roy Halladay Justin Verlander (9th in 2007) Matt Cain (9th in 2006, 8th in 2007 at ages 21 and 22 respectively) (Zambrano 7th) Is it just coincidence that Zambrano broke down in the 2nd half of 2008 or that Harang was just plain awful all year? Or that Verlander's velocity has dropped? Like I said, you can argue cause and effect and say Zambrano was just getting older or Harang was getting older or whatever, but if I'm a GM of a small market team (or a fantasy baseball manager) I think long and hard before trading for someone with a history of abuse.
  5. Anyone read Rich Dad, Poor Dad? Robert Kiyosaki is totally against stocks right now. His philosophy is to invest only in gold and income producing real estate (that is, you buy a property and the rent that you get covers your mortgage and then some - easier said than done these days since most banks are requiring much bigger down payments than in the past). He's convinced all the bailouts we're going through will devalue the dollar so much that it will crash everything by 2020. Not saying I buy that but something to take into consideration.
  6. The Bucks are getting worse defensively and better offensively since Redd came back and Bogut started missing time. Not sure if that's cause and effect or not.
  7. Right but you have to draw the line somewhere. Until they develop a way to accurately measure the drunkenness of a 90 lbs woman and a 325 lbs man the BAC is what we're left with.
  8. Nankivil shows flashes that he's going to be decent. I wonder if it's a confidence thing. Jarmusz hasn't really shown much either.
  9. Meh - I thought it was OK. Nothing great.
  10. " Verlander has had as much abuse as Cain has had. " Yeah, I was actually surprised that Cain had been in the top ten the last three seasons in PAP. I'm not interested in either of them if I'm the Brewers.
  11. Verlander's had a lot of abuse on his arm the last two or three years. I'd expect a significant injury one of these days.
  12. Trevon Hughes is a really frustrating guy to root for.
  13. There are many airports that hire dogs to run around and scare away the birds - especially during migratory seasons.
  14. I flew USAir yesterday, sat in an exit row, and thought the same thing.
  15. Ennder probably knows this for certain, but I think Bush has been pretty much the same the last three years - it's his luck that tends to ebb and flow. Having a good defense behind him is key.
  16. Is it just me or do they close schools a lot more often these days for cold weather than they used to? I don't think I ever had a day off for cold weather when I was a kid - snow a few times but never cold. Of course my district didn't have to bus anyone around so maybe that makes a difference.
  17. Buy a book. A good one is the Wall St Journal Guide to Investing. I bet a "Dummies Guide to Investing" is probably pretty good for starters too.
  18. Given Gindl's height, is it possible the Brewers move him to the infield? Maybe 2nd base?
  19. That's kind of how I feel too. As Melvin mentioned defense will need to be better given that the brewers are losing two strikeout pitchers in CC and Sheets.
  20. Badgers could not hit their shots. How many bunnies did they miss down low? Not to mention they could not get to the line to save their lives. Purdue just owns them.
  21. That would depend on the rest of my pitching staff .
  22. DHonks, When did you graduate from Santa Clara? I had some friends that went there....a few years older than Steve Nash.
  23. WV plays lock down D. I think MU has trouble offensively although playing at home is an obvious advantage. I'll go WV 73, MU 67.
  24. I've been looking at web design too. Look into your local community college - most probably have continuing education with certificates in some kind of web design program. Much cheaper than going back to school full time.
  25. "Fielder is a better all around hitter than Dunn. He hits for higher average, strikes out less, has a higher slugging percentage hits more doubles. and his biggest HR and RBI year (accomplished in 3 full seasons) is better than any of Dunn's 7 full seasons. " But is he that much better than Dunn + a starting pitcher?
