  1. All I bought were a couple DVDs from BestBuy.com. They had Flight of the Conchords for $13.50, which seemed like a good deal. I didn't feel like going out, so I didn't. I didn't notice anything stunning in the ads anyway.
  2. Guitar Hero III. I've been playing it all week, pretty much non-stop. I realize it's out for all the systems, but the Wii version is sweet. The only problem is that you can't buy a 2nd guitar yet (unless you buy a whole nother game, which I can't bring myself to do because I couldn't even give the game to someone). Also, I can't find any of the pick guards, but that's not a big deal. I know Metroid Prime III is supposed to be great too, but I've owned it for a month or so now and I haven't even tried it yet. First I got obsessed by Madden 08 and now by Guitar Hero. I guess I'll play it at some point though. So, to conclude, my favorite games for the Wii are: Madden 08, Guitar Hero III, Super Paper Mario, WarioWare Smooth Moves, & Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. Zelda is too hard for me for some reason, though it is fun on the parts that I can do.
  3. I thought I heard that Nintendo was coming out with a more deluxe version of the Wii, supposedly it would be able to play DVDs as well as games. That might just be a rumor though, I haven't really paid attention because I don't care about that feature. You might want to check into that if such a thing would matter to you or your son. As for the unavailability of the Wii, it's shocking to me too. I bought two of them at launch (one for my little brother) and only had to get to the store about 6 hours before it opened. You practically have to wait that long to get one even now. I've only seen them on shelves a couple times. You know Nintendo is churning them out as fast as they can, yet they still can't even come close to meeting the demand. It's ridiculous. And the new Mario is coming out next month. That will probably increase demand even more. I hope it's better than the GameCube Mario, which was pretty lackluster in general.
  4. This episode was kind of stupid, but I'm not really a poop-joke lover. People who are will probably enjoy it. I thought it was a shame they weren't able to carry over the momentum from last week's episode, but there's always next week.
  5. Hmm, that sure seems unlikely. I suppose somebody could poison gumballs (that somebody would seem more likely to be some lone nut than a terrorist), but isn't that true of almost anything? However, it's my guess that these guys are actually just upset that unlicensed vending machines are prevalent in their area and they said the terrorist thing as an excuse for looking into it.
  6. People say it's awesome? I saw they were coming to Minneapolis on 12/15 (iirc). The only thing I know about them is that they were in a Miller commercial a couple years ago.
  7. Ugh, I hate Coors. Now two gigantic Milwaukee companies have ties to racist extremists. Oh well, what are you going to do?
  8. So there are no on-line roster updates? That's really terrible, I was going to buy it tomorrow.
  9. Brady will be signed, but I would imagine he'll be playing the Dillon role, rather than the Mench role for some team. That is to say, not a 4th outfielder role, but more likely a 6th guy who starts out in AAA. I could be mistaken, but no one picked him up this year until september, which is curious for a guy who would supposedly be such a great 4th outfielder. He hit well for SD, but that didn't impress them enough to hang onto him. Also, Brady will get no playoff shares this year. Of the 4 organizations he was with this year, 3 of them suffered humiliating collapses and the one that didn't never let him get near their ML team. Perhaps his presence is harbinger of doom.
  10. Jacque hit .332 (.832 OPS) in the 2nd half while playing an acceptable CF. A nice rebound for him, though his season numbers still look terrible. I wonder if the Cubs will keep him around.
  11. What kind of features does Live have this year, and is there a free-agent list? there usually is. also ,can't you get roster updates online?
  12. I would think he would change, just because the equipment guy is the guy who picked out #49. (All Mexicans don't have to wear the same number, imo.) If Yo has a different number in mind, he'll probably go to it next year. Villanueva changed after his first year. Fielder, Weeks, and Hart have all always had the same number though, so who knows. To conclude, I would wait until next spring training to buy a Yovani jersey. Or, I guess you could try to get in touch with him and ask him if he'll keep #49, but I don't know how well that would work, especially in the offseason.
  13. that link redirects back to this thread. If that's some sort of post-modern joke, I don't get it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Anyway, my main concern about 2022 (re: Brewers & Brewerfan) is that the next 15 years will be more successful than the last 15, though that shouldn't be hard to do. A holographic TV would be sweet though...
  14. My man-crush is B.D. Wong: http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Events/3937/BDWong_Kambo_6706762_400.jpg My wife always makes fun of me whenever he is on-screen. I really like/d his characters on Oz and SVU (in fact, in SVU's case, I really only like the episodes with Dr. Huang), so she enjoys ribbing me about him. I recently found out that he was gay, so like my wife said, maybe I have a shot. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Just kidding... he's way outta my league. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. Nice, I told my wife this and she got a kick out of it.
  16. This is right. Ray won't be eligible for the post-season roster. When the Brewers traded Eric Young to the Giants a few years ago, it was the same situation but reversed. A guy has to be in your org. by 8/31. I'm happy to see Ray (and Mike) back.
  17. I'm surprised Philly didn't give him more of a shot at 3rd. Helms and Nunez have been absolutely terrible this year. It seems like Russ would have been a nice upgrade.
  18. When I was in DC last week, I noticed that my brother-in-law has a roomba. Thinking of the quest for a roomba on this site, I asked him what he thought of it. He said it worked ok, but he had to empty it several times in order for it to do a whole floor (and his house is not huge or anything). He said he usually just used his regular vacuum. That was kind of disappointing.
  19. This isn't exactly true. The hard-slot is for 1st round picks. 2nd round picks and undrafted guys (which sometimes happens with foreign guys (Nocioni, Garbajosa, Oberto, etc.) or guys who weren't prospects but proved themselves overseas (Lynn Greer, for example)) can be paid whatever a team can afford. This is why it's sometimes much better for a foreign player to be drafted in the 2nd round. That way a team can pay him more to help cover his buy-out.
  20. Yes, the NBA has buy-outs capped at $500,000 (it used to be less, but they upped it in the newest CBA). A team is only allowed to contribute that half million towards a player's buy-out. There is a serious caveat though. If the player's buy-out is more than that, the player has to pick up the rest. This has meant that some foreign players are basically playing for nothing in their first couple years in the NBA and has prevented more than a few from coming over (Luis Scola, the Rockets new power forward, was prevented from coming over to play with the Spurs a couple years ago because his Spanish team wanted a $10,000,000 buyout. They lowered their request this offseason and so Scola will play in the NBA this year).
  21. wow, the last one was pretty recently, wasn't it? I've bought a few things from shirt.woot, but I've yet to buy anything from the parent site. Maybe today will be the day.
  22. Villanueva pitched ok. 4.1 innings 2 hits 0 walks 5 strikeouts. 1 of the hits was a home run though, so he gave up 3 earned. Only 2 hits and no walks is encouraging though.
  23. Yes, I'm well aware of Eddie's famous car accident and I'm not saying he did this on purpose. However, things like this- However, when Griffin drove around barriers and slammed into a moving train on Houston's east side... from this article make me wonder a little bit. Not that it matters...
  24. That's really terrible. I always liked Griffin, but he was never able to overcome his personal problems. He did end up with a relatively lucrative deal in Minnesota after his breakdown in Houston, iirc, but a lot of people thought he had by far the most talent of anyone in the 2001 draft. He was kind of a poor man's Antoine Walker (but with shotblocking ability) in the NBA. Anyway, I don't know why, but the circumstances make me wonder if this was an accident or not. I don't mean to cast aspersions, but Eddie had some well-known problems and they said the gates were down. I don't know what would be better though, an accident or otherwise. Either way, a sad end for Eddie.
  25. Good question. I guess it's because he hasn't pitched under 188 innings in a year since 1998, but at the same time, his career high is only 217 innings. He's not a Livan Hernandez who is going to give you 220-250 innings a year.
