  1. I remember two years ago, getting mowed down by some rookie southpaw in Milwaukee, despite us killing lefties. If only the kid's arm didn't go the way of John's Tommy from his devastating slider, he would be considered to be the top pitcher in baseball. As for the matchup, I say we put his head on a swivel, Jose Reyes-MLBtheSHOW-style.
  2. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I would say Bush two years ago was the best I'd ever seen of him pitching. I know his ERA was better with the Blue Jays a few years ago, but Bush proved to be a workhorse (210IP), with good control of his fastball (38BB) while also getting a good amount of K's (166K). And with Manny being watched carefully (as well as YoGa once he returns), Bush is a necessity this year. Next year, then, we'll probably have to choose between Suppan and Bush, but this year, he is undoubtedly a solid piece of our rotation.
  3. We're six-deep in the rotation once YoGa comes back. We're six-deep in the outfield once Mike Cameron comes back. Rickie is looking good, Hall has found his stroke (though he's alway spounded the southpaws), and Hart is building on last year, all of which means our superb depth is but a luxury at present, as most of them probably won't be sitting much. The only thing that does scare me is Braun's defense at present in left, but that is easily rectified by a the great Kapler/Jr Gwynny platoon as a defensive replacement. Seriously...it's a good time to be a Brewer Fanatic.
  4. I just looked and couldn't find any proof of my claim that they would play at the Metrodome so I apologize. I could have sworn it was the deal struck to allow the Twins out of their lease with the 'dome. As for the roof, it's a blessing to be guaranteed a prompt and timely start.
  5. Doesn't Minnesota have a stipulation that all postseason games are to be played at the Metrodome anyway? Thus, the only downfall to their new open air stadium is that it threatens to be a snow-covered Jake in April. However, delays and dowble-headers are part of the baseball of yore. The dome is the advent of the DH. And we, as Milwaukee fans, are baseball bigamists....and loving every minute of it.
  6. I would have preferred to procure to Corey's signature prior to that contract being announced, as I think it definitely is going to raise the bar on the lithe speedster/slugger....or is it slugger/speedster. I'll just call him the slashie.
  7. It was one start, and he did have some suspect defensive miscues today. The stat I always come back to with Bush is K/BB, coupled with a good amount of innings. To me, if he does those things, he's a very serviceable three, much more than the Soup. And honestly, yesterday's game could have mirrored today's game if that hop to Hall happened a day earlier instead of Hall having a very good game (and series) defensively. Braun...well it's but a Bill Hall bump in the road to left field.
  8. Honestly, I'd even take a Boof Bonser.
  9. Sheets and Yo are quite the combination. For the year and a half prior to Yo's ascension to the majors, no pitcher had more strikeouts than the young Mexican hurler. And as for Sheets, while I know it was some four years ago, find me one NL pitcher who has put up a line like Ben's (most notably the amount of K's with his K/BB ratio). THe same is said of Bush, which is why....ahem...I kind of have a slight affinity for the throwback hurler.
  10. Sorry guys. I should have put Yo in Cubby Blue, but honestly, outside of Prince who has the most power and the best control of the strike zone, I would probably take Yo. Tell me one thing Braun or Hardy has done without the protection of Prince. Weeks could be the guy, but he is as wildly inconsistent as Jenkins. And Hart, while a great hitter, has a 6'6" frame of a strike zone to protect, but could challenge for the second spot with El Chupacabra.
  11. Cards won't have much interest as he's been predominantly a starter. If I had to ponder a guess, I'd say he ends up in Washington, but since that's not a choice...Pittsburgh.
  12. Also look where he has Russell Martin...over the next five years. Neyer must be the one analyst who I've come across who DOESN'T like Martin. Personally, I'd take Russell the Muscle over Zimmerman AT THIRD! (Well maybe not, but if 3B and C were at equal footing on the spectrum, I would still take Martin) And Holliday over the next five years....AT COORS! But the TOP slight has to be where Jake Peavy ranks on the list, especially when he ends his comments with, "nothing not to like here".....except for his absurdly low opinion of the young award winner with a Petco forcefield.
  13. Well considering how most people believe we're going to be losing Prince in the next four years if we don't get his John Hancock on a big contract, perhaps we should petition Uncle Bud to allow us to play next year's "Opener" so we can showcase Prince to the rich Island in hopes of extracting a $50+ million posting fee. :-)
  14. First, there was an article literally chronicling that at-bat on ESPN.com, and it was said that all Hoffman threw to Jr. Gwynny were changeups, which would make sense because outside of Matt Wise, the HOFer has the best changeup in baseball (Johan and Cole throw much superior FB's and thus I cannot rate their changeups higher...and they're lefties). As for the real topic....maybe I'm in the minority here but I'll take Yo, yo.
  15. Put me in, Pedro. I'm ready to play... And buy the generous man a beer.
  16. I would imagine it could also be construed as, "Without the Grand Salome in our organization because of his suspension, Rottino is our de facto best catching prospect," though I don't know how he would be better than Lucroy. But the Salome is the guy to watch this year, and if it was meant as a challenge to him, then I hope he takes it as such and outproduces even my lofty expectations for him.
  17. I'd like to throw my name into the sweepstakes. My bracket doesn't offer me much hope, so I guess I'll hang my head on this hope.
  18. I'd ather have Rich Harden than Blanton. Bring the great Canadian to the Midwest so Canada wion't have to go too far to see their beloved brethren. Weeks/Villy for Street/Harden/Ginter....err Ellis. :-)
  19. The Boones, Bells....Weekses???
  20. Sans Cutter.
  21. I would imagine he will be profiled in the AA portion, with Johnny Cueto.
  22. Would you trade a more powerful, better disciplined Brandon Phillips for Brian Roberts? I wouldn't even trade Parra/LaPorta/Escobar for Roberts. ZachJack/Hurricane...yeah. Nada mas.
  23. Turnbow was supposed to be the closer before we got Gagne and Turnbow would be the closer if Gagne were deemed injured/ineffective. Beyond that, I would think Riske would be third in line, if only because of the contract stipulations that kick in if/when he closes. As for Gagne, it was my understanding that each day, he worked on a different pitch and, thus, his numbers are obviously skewed.
  24. Is there any chance of recurrence from sliding feet first? Because that would definitely be pertinent fantasy advice.
  25. I'd appreciate the chance in the hat. I love taking the trip from Green Bay to Milwaukee, and it would make a cool time for me and my dad.
