  1. Sheets Capuano Gallardo Suppan Villanueva Sounds good to me.
  2. So far all I know about Braun is that he's the Brewers version of A-Rod. Meaningless RBI!
  3. I'm sure Billy will hit a meaningless double and homer to help his OPS for you stat heads too to make the final score 9-3. What? I thought he was clutch? I get confused by the old school heads.
  4. Bush's approval rating is dropping fast as his ERA continues to rise.
  5. That must have been what they had planned that made them decide to hit him leadoff at AAA? Or was it just to get him as many AB's as possible prior to today in anticipation of him joining the team in SD? Did we ever get a reason for why they hit him leadoff?
  6. Can't wait until we see this lineup in 2 years with Inman on the mound. Just wait two months and you'll see it with Gallardo on the mound.
  7. Mackowiak is a guy that I've always been a fan of. I wouldn't mind getting him and a low-ceiling AAA pitcher (Pollok or Wasserman?) for Mench. Then Graffy becomes pretty much totally expendable, and they can trade him for an organizational soldier.
  8. I would trade him for Hensley, I don't think the Padres are going to move Meredith (or really any young, cheap pitcher - those are the best kind). I would definitely try to trade Gwynn while he's got decent numbers, though.
  9. Fans love Billy, and that will never change no matter how bad he plays. I wouldn't say that. There's definitely still haters, and they usually come out of the woodwork when he slumps for a week. And the last thing that needs to be taken into consideration is what fans think of a player.
  10. It'd be great to get him if the Yankees were going to sell low. I don't think they are stupid, though. He's one of the best OF's of the past decade - it's going to cost quite a bit to acquire him unless it's a salary dump (which is how the Yankees got him, but I don't think they really do that kind of thing).
  11. Lucinda Williams - "Are You Down" (Live at the Fillmore) Bloc Party - "Hunting for Witches" Buck Owens - "Ain't it Amazing, Gracie" Gram Parsons - "A Song For You" Merle Haggard - "Leonard" Wilco - "Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway (again)" Lou Reed - "The Last Shot" Grateful Dead - "Big Railroad Blues" (2/26/73) Joe Ely - "Musta Notta Gotta Lotta" Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - "Jolly One" (Peel Session, 2/15/01)
  12. could it honestly be anymore than counsell or graffy Counsell has a .360 OBP (.351 batting 8th), and Graffy's is .261 (.270 batting 8th). The Brewers have had a .315 OBP total out of the 8th spot in the lineup. So, I would say the pitcher would lead off an inning more often with Estrada batting 8th.
  13. Whatever. His dad was good. To me, that is equal to basically being a human fireball. His blood is always on fire.
  14. So you're saying there's no chance he can even be an awful pitcher? If Zach Jackson ever has a 3.03 ERA as a starter for a whole season, like Dessens did in 2002, I'd be pretty shocked. There's no way you can say 1000+ innings of 4.44 ERA pitching is terrible. If Zach Jackson did that, it would turn out to be a great pickup.
  15. I'd probably be all over Brendan Wright. I'm not sure he'll be there, though.
  16. Exactly. This lineup could be basically an AL lineup with a pitcher in it, especially when Braun comes up. Now we get to be treated to the Ned Yost offensive gimmickry show. How many double steal attempts tonight? It's been a couple weeks.
  17. The A's DFA'd him today. I'm guessing he doesn't get picked up. He had been awful in AAA so far this year - so bad that he has been even worse than J.D. Closser. He really only had one good minor league year - which was his third time through the Texas League. The walks were pretty much always there, but he never developed the power they projected him to.
  18. There was no fix. And there were more than three teams trying to lose games. EDIT: 8,000. Woot.
  19. I was feeling like I was narrating Batman or Superman when I was writing the post. I was going to lead off with "When we last saw our hero...", but then I forgot to do that.
  20. I would say a middle reliever when he gets to the big leagues to stay. He just doesn't have an out pitch.
  21. I think he's definitely going to be a big leaguer. Good for him. He was pretty much a throw in in the Kolb trade, and now he's an injury away from a pension.
  22. Yeah, this was his other wrist, and it's just some sprained ligaments or something. He was also sporting a Layne Staley circa MTV Unplugged look last week: http://i9.tinypic.com/52yidyf.jpg The new album is going to be great. I was going to post a song from that same show, but maybe I'll hold off on that. "The Sun Also Sets" (the one I was going to post) has already become one of my favorite Ryan Adams songs, and pretty much every other song from "Easy Tiger" that I've heard has been excellent. He's posting on the Ryan Adams Archive message board once in a while now. He says he definitely is hoping to make it to Milwaukee on the upcoming tour, which is looking like a late summer/early fall run.
  23. I was hoping the old one would still be around, but it's long gone. So I figured I'd make a new one in honor of an awesome cover song that our hero unveiled last week: LINK The shows last week were stripped down acoustic shows, since Ryan hurt his wrist skateboarding and was unable to play. His voice was in pretty fine form, though, and the Cardinals are great. And an FYI, his new album "Easy Tiger" is out on 6/26: http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51HcFelNEYL._SS500_.jpg Appreciate away.
