  1. Boy, would that be a trainwreck. He wasn't even very good there at the U, which was why even they moved him over to 3B and used him a fair amount as a DH if I recall.
  2. As much as I tend to lean strongly offense-first as far as players that I prefer, I would have been in favor of a really good defensive SS, even if the guy couldn't hit. The whole "the rest of the lineup can hit, so who cares?" stance makes more sense if the guy can really pick it. Strong defense up the middle is one of the few baseball cliches I actually believe in, and the 2011 Brewers don't have it aside from in CF. If you look at 2008, the team had Hardy, Cameron, and Kendall - who was really great at throwing out runners that season. It also helps that two of those guys were head and shoulders better offensive players than the current guys manning those positions. Anyhow, I think the thing that people trying to defend Betancourt are missing when it comes to the thoughts from the other side is that I don't think anyone who thinks Betancourt is a bad defensive player is basing that off of the 13 games or whatever he has played with the Brewers. It's based on years of data and also years of scouts and whatnot saying he is clearly not a good defender.
  3. I'd rather see them stand pat and hang onto prospects for a while. The farm system needs to get back on the uptick quick if the Brewers are going to stay relevant in a couple years.
  4. Can't we just all agree that Fielder and Betancourt are both bad defenders, and that they worked together to help lose a game? Seems pretty cut and dried.
  5. Very nice, though rain-outs are always a bummer when you had your day planned around a game.
  6. I walked in to apply for a job that I wanted yesterday and wound up getting two interviews and hired on the spot after filling out my application.
  7. Kottaras doesn't strike me as a Twins-type of player.
  8. They have been bunting too much, in my opinion.
  9. Wolf is totally underrated. He had that one awful, awful start last year, otherwise he has been worth the investment. Any one with a clue knew Suppan was a terrible move on that fateful Christmas Eve when they signed him.
  10. He sort of reminding me of how much I loved watching Bip Roberts when I was a kid. If he had that kind of versatility, he's really be awesome.
  11. Damn, that Jayhawks show looks great. Alejandro is one of my very favorites to see.
  12. I meant that I would keep Kottaras, to clarify.
  13. I'm with RoCo... the dude can't hit. I'd say that's fairly established by now.
  14. Undoubtedly Kottaras.
  15. Get some fresh Jameson.
  16. I guess I don't really care for Gomez, Hardy, or Betancourt. I'm sure there are plenty of others who feel the same way.
  17. Going to the game on Sunday, I think. Looking forward to checking out Austin Ross.
  18. Agreed. I can't stand the guy. Part of the problem is that the sports media always looks for that story. Like with guys like Vick. Why does it have to be jammed down our throats that he's a "good guy" or how much he has "changed" now? He's the same guy he always was (like being at that party where the guy got shot before the season - which was conveniently ignored once he started playing well), just better at playing football now. Why can't that be enough? Same goes for Hamilton and loads of other athletes. It's sickening.
  19. I'd more just make fun of the Red Sox fans that are freaking out. Anyone can see they are absolutely loaded and are going to win 90.
  20. I would definitely say he disappointed me this season. I thought for sure he would go in during the summer and hoist up 1,000 shots a day and get better, and then he didn't.
