  1. I don't think Lucroy is that great defensively, and he was terrible on offense last season. He's probably a below average defender. Obviously Kottaras isn't good on defense. The Brewers' offense is not so great that it doesn't need contributions everywhere in the lineup. There are holes all over.
  2. Betancourt is pretty terrible, but I am not sure if they will be able to upgrade without giving up too much.
  3. Yeah. Admittedly I have been out of the loop for a while, but I watched him as a heel at Wrestlemania XX last night and thought he was good in that role. The whole "intense viper looks" thing is just stupid. The RKO is a sweet move, though any variation of the Stunner/Diamond Cutter is to me, for some reason.
  4. Braddock is really good. No way I would send him down. And I actually like Green quite a bit, though I think he makes sense as an odd man out since he can't pitch to LHB's.
  5. Just for the sake of clarification, you'd rather have Kottaras be the everyday C and not LuCroy? Yes, I have doubts about Lucroy on offense. I would be cool with a 60/40 split, but I don't think Lucroy has earned every day playing time at this point. Kottaras is a good hitter, regardless of his AVG.
  6. Yeah, seems like AZ decided they really don't want to play him much.
  7. This was pretty weak... I'm glad I just waited and downloaded it. There were some really great moments, though Taker/HHH was too long and then to have it end with that stupid gogoplata that Taker uses kind of sucked. When HHH took the tombstone earlier, I was hoping he would just job clean to Taker's finish. The main event was rushed, but that's fine since neither of them are really that great of a worker. The fact that two of the best workers on the card got bumped off of it sucked. Orton's gimmick is dumb as hell, but he's got a lot of talent. I liked that match a fair amount.
  8. That AB by Kottaras was absolutely huge. And then to follow up with the CS was even moreso.
  9. I would say that he has made that decision a pretty easy one.
  10. As much as I was sort of down on this move, it's worked out perfectly with Gomez sucking it up and Nyjer hot. Hopefully it will bury Gomez on the bench. I'm all in favor of them platooning once Hart returns, and think that gives them their best possible lineup with Morgan hitting second. Hopefully Kottaras can cement himself as the every day C and 7th hitter and suddenly you have two more guys in the lineup that will give the team a good AB more often than not, and especially more often than the alternatives.
  11. I'm a big fan of Kottaras, but there are limitations with a guy who is going to only hit about .220 or so. I love that he works the count and walks and has some pop, but a .310 OBP or whatever it'll be is still not a real big positive for this lineup.
  12. I don't think that getting good offense from Lucroy is anything near a surefire bet. It's his first full season in the bigs and he missed all of spring training. I think that position is going to continue to be a black hole.
  13. Very nice. I went open water on the river by Point a couple weeks ago and didn't catch a single walleye. I ice fished probably a dozen times or so, but it's really not for me. I might try it one last time this coming week.
  14. The reason the company survived was WCW screwing up royally. They were loaded to the gills with talent and if they would have had any sense booking-wise, would have buried Vince in 1997. Instead you had the utter cluster that was guys like Bischoff/Nash/Russo/Sullivan, etc. booking and only pushing old guys. The mid-carders that they had were epic - Eddie, Mysterio, Benoit, Jericho, Malenko all in their primes, and they blew it. All they would have had to do was get more of those guys over - problem being that guys like Hogan/Nash, etc. wouldn't job to them. It's not like those guys would have been buried, but they were just stupid. And they screwed Flair like a dozen times.
  15. I don't mind dealing Dickerson at all. That move I liked quite a bit, since I think Mitre will end up helping the team throughout the season. I do wish they would have given him a chance to win that job, but whatever. They needed a Mitre-type, especially in April, and Dickerson had value that Kotsay/Almonte obviously didn't.
  16. Yeah, and I just really like Jim Edmonds a lot. I wish he would have been able to stay healthier last year. I don't know of many 40 year olds that hit .286/.350/.493. He gave the Brewers half a season on one leg that a real chump like Gomez could only dream of.
  17. Can we please not use this phrase. Yes, Dodgeball is a hilarious movie, but it's perhaps the most annoying cliche used on brewerfan.net. I almost made a post the other day asking the over/under for first time that annoying phrase is used this season When I use it, it's an ode to Bill Parcells. He said it like 5+ years before Dodgeball ever came out. Back when his Monday pressers when he was with the Jets were must see TV.
  18. I moreso meant Cena. That guy is like Hogan or something (as far as being a worker goes, especially), without the unintentional hilarity that Hogan had.
  19. It's based on more than one season. Weeks isn't a high average hitter, so I don't think it's that crazy of a projection.
  20. I really think the Brewers' non-running style of play comes from the front office. I'm fine with it, personally, but just saying. I also think it's pretty customary for a manager to come in and say "we're going to run more" to appease some fans.
  21. If he's a PR and they don't ask him to try to steal, I'll be alright with it.
  22. Yeah, as an A's fan as well, I will always be a Mark Kotsay fan, but he's so cooked at this point.
  23. Most definitely agreed here, across the board. I hope Kottaras doesn't get hosed.
  24. I hope whatever he does, it involves taking the strap off one of those guys that has no mic skills, or no skills at all (Cena). I'd probably watch if Rock did a heel turn at Mania - is he the guest referee, or just some kind of ambiguous "host"? EDIT: Also, the Jerichoholic stuff was one of the best angles ever. I loved the JPS, especially Ralphus.
