  1. I couldn't fall asleep until 4 AM last night, so my guess right now is watching the game and taking a nap. Otherwise, I'm headed to a buddy's for a BBQ and some beers, 40 degrees be damned.
  2. I've actually been watching old stuff lately for some reason, mostly boredom. Probably about 10 'Manias this past week. I think X-7 or XIX is my favorite, though I wasn't actually even watching anymore at the time those happened. Also have a big soft spot for XIV, since when I was 13, Stone Cold was where it was at (along with the nWo). I might check this out, but the last time I tried (maybe a year ago?), the WWE product was so terrible it lasted about an hour before I turned it off. So, it might be via a stream, I think. I guess I just miss the Attitude Era and the Monday night wars and all that good stuff when it comes to wrestling. Everything's so watered down, and they're getting kind of back to the stupid gimmicks that were around when I was a small kid watching. Where's the edgy? A McMahon is never going to hold a Senate seat (or any political office), so let the blood flow, would ya?
  3. The offense is my major concern right now.
  4. I agree with the other people who'd said it should be a baseball person, but whatever. With the teams involved, I figured Aaron would have been awesome.
  5. I pretty much expected to not see him until May, anyhow. Not surprised, I guess.
  6. He got worked very hard at the beginning of his career, I would say. It's not all at the feet of Yost/Maddux. Part of it is pure physiological stuff as Sheets was legitimately maybe 5'11"? I know they always listed him over 6', but he definitely wasn't, and small pitchers tend to wear out faster historically (of course there are some that haven't like Huddy, Santana, Pedro, etc.). There also was the fact that Sheets didn't take care of himself the best in the offseason. He's one of my all-time favorites, but that's a fact.
  7. I'm not a big fan of many Wausau bars. Maybe the Domino on Washington St.? There are some pretty decent hole in the wall places... Treu's Tic-Toc, is alright, on Thomas St. Otherwise, if I'm going for a night on the town in the tavern, I like going to some of the small ones in the outlying towns. I'm a dive bar guy.
  8. Sort of. I'm in Wausau.
  9. Damn, GP, where do you live? I'm down for some home brews.
  10. I'm trying to make a more concerted effort to be around here more often. Since I'm currently not working, it should be doable. What the hell else am I going to do aside from watching baseball and talking about it? It's too cold to fish.
  11. Jeffress probably isn't built up enough to pitch a full season. That's just another thing that they screwed up on. I really hope they can be a good team in a couple years, but with that "brain" trust in place with Moore and Yost I have my doubts. Rarely do I ever feel pity for another fanbase, but the Royals faithful are a bunch that I feel for.
  12. Sports radio in general is a business for hacks. In this day and age, probably half (at least) the listenership watches and knows more about sports than the hosts - even on the national level. Radio hosts in general are about being a personality/entertainer rather than well-informed and reasoned sports enthusiast. They need to move the needle, sell ads, generate calls and participation, etc. So, that being said, if she's got something in those areas, she might succeed. It doesn't hurt that she's not a middle-aged fat guy, even in radio.
  13. It's the Royals. It's Ned Yost. End of story. I have no why you wouldn't even just put Jeffress in the big league rotation if he's going to make the roster. Look at who's in it. Guys like Kyle Davies.
  14. Here's hoping he just takes Mark A's money and goes away.
  15. Yeah, and the Blue Jays will never make the playoffs unless the entire east coast of the US falls into the ocean. And I wouldn't say Cain has proven himself by any means. He had like 150 AB's.
  16. I thought almost that whole DBacks team would be really good, and it just didn't work out like that, unfortunately. Their playoff run was a really fun when they were all youngsters.
  17. He was, and way cooler, still. The Sheen thing died in like two days. GP keeps on rolling along.
  18. I had a lot higher hopes for Drew when he came into the league than I do now. I thought he'd be a lot more like his brother offensively than he has been. That said, he's still pretty good. And he's an average defensive player, which is also quite the upgrade on a guy like Betancourt. I'd gladly plug him into the second spot of the lineup and feel a heck of a lot better about the offense.
  19. All I really care about is who they hire to take over the Packer post game. That's the only Michaels, or sports talk at all that I listen to, aside from Jason Wilde's stuff.
  20. That's a definite one. They are one of the kings of the bad contract. I'd say the chance he's in the AL East is about 80%.
  21. What end is saying is right... The idea is to get a pitch you can hit into play (or hopefully over the fence) with authority. Sometimes you don't get them and you K. Sometimes guys get them and swing and miss (Adam Dunn, Branyan, etc.). The ability to wait for that pitch is what seperates good hitters from bad ones, generally speaking.
