  1. It is weird how high his walk rate is, but it's probably still a factor of all that time off. Or just that he has become more fine with his pitches since he's not throwing as hard as he used to.
  2. It's pretty bad when you're paying a pitcher that's worse than Braden Looper $12 million.
  3. Quotes like this are the reason I've lost faith in Melvin... like FA was his only choice? Instead of signing the best value the Brewers can afford maybe he should just admit to himself that the FA pitching market stinks for a team like Milwaukee. Why spend money just to spend it badly? That's one thing I've never understood, why max out the payroll simply because we can? This was exactly the reason why a lot of people were against it here back when it happened. It just didn't make sense.
  4. He did more damage than Jeffrey Hammonds could have ever even imagined.
  5. My long personal nightmare is over. It's been excruciating.
  6. Awesome. So happy to see him fighting in America, and with such a great company. Strikeforce isn't going anywhere. Lesnar hasn't been anyone near the caliber of fighters that Fedor has. Arlovski is better than Mir and he KO'd him with one shot. I'm just not going to believe anything Dana White says about this whole thing. He's the one doing all the talking (as usual). I especially never believe him when he says he's going to compensate a fighter well. Those guys get hosed.
  7. Okay, Dana. Why everything he says is reported as fact is beyond me. He's trying to gain the leverage in public opinion, which obviously is working for some people. He proved it in Pride.
  8. I think they're pictures from last night.
  9. Not surprising at all. Though I don't believe pretty much anything Dana White says. Fedor's the best, and he doesn't need to fight Brock freaking Lesnar to prove that, anyway.
  10. So pumped that Vitor is back. Disappointed it is at 205, though. He needs to fight Anderson. Anderson vs Vitor is a much more enticing fight than Anderson vs Hendo, which is what looks like would happen - according to Sherdog. Tito vs Coleman is a who cares fight, though. They need to find him a better dance partner than that. Cane or something. Jon Jones would be an excellent opponent, too. They should find out right away if Tito is relevant. Great for Rothwell, he's deserved to be there for a while.
  11. This is just a whatever move. Hard to really get upset about it. They acquired a guy that at least has MLB ability, which is more than Burns, Smith, etc. have. I want Mike Jones getting called up, though. This season could use a good story. Why not.
  12. Not until late August, if at all this season. Still, he's under contract for 4 more years.
  13. Finally. Glad he took it.
  14. The dark horse is also Cro Cop. If he crushes dos Santos at 103, he could easily get a shot. The guy is a draw, and having him fight Lesnar would be pretty massive. Anyone against Lesnar probably would be pretty massive, though. I really don't think having Couture getting mauled by Lesnar again is a fight that should be made if he beat Nog. I could see in the future a Randy/Fedor match just for old times sakes IF (I still say that's a huge if) Fedor comes to the UFC and beats Lesnar. Also, it is so irritating to have guys have to wait 6 months to fight. Young or less experienced fighters like Carwin and Velasquez need as much octagon time as they can get to develop into excellent fighters. Their fight should be over pretty quickly, so I don't see any reason why the winner couldn't fight two months later if it looked like a really good fight against Lesnar. That's why Pride was so great. Guys like Nog and Fedor and Cro Cop fought all the time. Sakuraba, too, in the earlier ones. Wand. Etc.
  15. It probably would have been the last event regardless. They were just flushing cash down the drain to pay fighters. Supposedly the reason the card got cancelled was Showtime PPV didn't feel like losing a ton of cash by not having Fedor in a viable match. They would have lost money regardless on the event, but much less for Fedor vs Barnett. They were pretty terrible at the business side of things, but they had GREAT events. This one would have been better than UFC 100, IMO. Too bad. And Lesnar should probably fight the winner of Velasquez and Carwin. I LOVE Nog, though, but I don't think he deserves that fight after he beats Randy (which I think he will). Granted, this is the UFC, and guys don't really always get title shots based on merit (which I understand, because it is a business and they need to sell the PPV's), but I just don't want to see Nog get killed.
  16. Yeah, there certainly is far more upside to having Swindle in the bigs than Burns, purely from an evaluation stand point. Pretty much as simple as that.
  17. I would bet Fedor never goes to the UFC, no matter how much money he gets offered. They just aren't going to make the concessions to get him, unfortunately. Definitely would be too bad, but I just don't feel all that confident about it. My guess would be that he goes back to fighting outside the US, maybe Dream.
  18. So great to see him having this season. Staying healthy and doing what he does.
  19. Way it sounds is that guy is just a troll.
  20. I strangely read the comments, too (just because I wanted to get a chuckle out of people freaking out about spring training). The guy that was calling him out was pretty much an ass. I'm with TH on this one.
  21. He's pretty much exactly what the team needs. I would be all about doing a three man rotation with Hart, Cameron, and Barry. He obviously can't play every day, but it's a heck of an upgrade on Trot Nixon or Chris Duffy.
  22. Oh yeah, if he shows he can still play and his body reacts fine I would be all over signing him to a minor league deal. Maybe one with an opt-out, even.
