  1. This might be the best thing for them. If they are THAT bad, then Herb may finally realize it's time for a full rebuild. Also, it would give us a chance to draft some elite talent. Of course, knowing our luck, it will be the weakest draft class ever.
  2. You can take the train out of milwaukee(or Harvard, if you are down by me), then hop on the red line. Just make sure to to remember the last time of the train back.
  3. John, people can call him Häagen-Dazs for all I care. As long as he keeps on pitching this well, I'll be happy.
  4. My thought exactly. You aren't making the playoffs(seriously, at this point, being above .500 is irrelevant), so position yourself for a top 5 pick next year and move on.
  5. You understand the Brewers(unlike the red sox, yankees, ect), have no where near the funds to do this kind of thing right? You want them to resign both Greinke and Fielder, ignoring the fact that combining those two salaries, along with Braun and Gallardos would make up about 70% of our payroll. You just can't operate a major league team like that. If you want to root for a team that overspends on vets and keeps EVERY single player they have, go root for the Yankees. With the make up of baseball right now, the Brewers cannot do it.
  6. Borderlands 2 looks amazing. I can't wait.
  7. The Pig in Delavan always has it stocked.
  8. This was a "blow it up" move, i seriously doubt they would have taken Grienke, and we would have to pay all of Han Ram's salary. Unless you think a Thornburg or Fiers would have gotten the job done.
  9. More depth for the astros, while shedding payroll. Solid trade for both sides.
  10. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. I am off until 7pm tomorrow(night shifter). I know what I'll be doing!
  11. With all due respect, how do we know he hasn't? Just because he hasn't said it to the media, doesn't mean he hasn't said so to Greinke behind closed doors. Doug has never been the kind of person to show his hand to the media.
  12. i don't think it is a good thing for the bucks. teams like the lakers, knicks and bulls will command more for their advertisements, therefore only widening the gap between those teams and the bucks. I bet we could scrounge up enough money here on BF to get a logo on the bucks jersey.
  13. See, and to me, The Wire broke all of that. There's no reason to not be accurate AND tell a great story other than laziness IMHO. But again that's the least of my problems. The sexism in this particular show is mind crushing and has me tuning in to see just how bad it's gonna get. You are correct. But what all of the CSIs(which i hate for the exact reason you hate the newsroom), chicago blues and Houses of the world taught me is that hollywood is full of lazy people. The Wire came out 10 years ago right? There hasn't been another cop show like it since, despite a new one coming out every year(all of them CSI clones). Unfortunately the formula they use works. Most of these shows don't care about accuracy of the business they portray, they care about forming the story arches. My advice is if you don't like it, don't watch it. You'll end up being a lot happier. This. I thought Mad Men was TERRIBLE the first 1/2 season. I'm glad i stuck with it because it's now one of my favorite shows.
  14. http://www.memedictionary.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/i_see_what_you_did_there.jpg This week's futurama was terrible. The show has been pretty good since coming back(for the most part), but that episode was by far the worst. NOBODY CARES ABOUT LEELA'S FAMILY. A storyline based around Leela, her mom, and Zapp was doomed to failure. The only part i found funny was bender surfing away from the leprechauns.
  15. I cannot, but i just want to say using Bobbleheads as tap handles sound AWESOME and i hope you post pictures.
  16. This. Just because our history has been mediocre for a majority of the time doesn't mean we should celebrate that fact. Don't let players in simply because "we haven't let any in a few years". Are there deserving players right now? Yes. But if you make it a requirement to add 1-2 EVERY year, then within 10 years you are out of qualified candidates and will be letting mediocre players in simply to fill the requirement.
  17. I said ring of honor, not the Hall of Fame(HUGE difference). The ring of honor has 21 players and they are all in the NFL hall of fame(except for Ron Wolf).
  18. It's used in the offseason, and unrolled once(iirc) during the season.
  19. If that's the case, change the name to "Walk of Brewers players we really like". Walk of Fame(to me a tleast) denotes the best of the best, like the Packer's Ring of Honor. It should be hard to get into, it should be an HONOR to be named to it. They don't ALL have to be hall of famers, but i don't want to see guys like Counsell or Tyler Houston on there. Career brewers(or near) and borderline Hall of Famers should be bar to get in. With exceptions being made for players/members of the organization who had a MAJOR impact on the franchise.
  20. Currently 104 in Janesville, where the today marks the 4th straight day above 100( 102, 101 and 105 the last 3 days). Tomorrow is supposed to break 103, before starting to cool down to 97 then into the high 80s. I'm with you on that one. You can always put more cloths on to warm up. While this heat doesn't bother me too much, i'd prefer the cold if given the choice.
  21. Glad to see I'm not the only one. Maybe i've just resigned myself to the fact that this was a lost season, but i rarely find myself deeply invested in the games like years past.
  22. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/brewers-employee-collapses-during-game-b65vh48-161027495.html I received a call from another former coworker today who heard about this before me. I knew him pretty well from my years of working with him(Out of respect for the family, i think it's best not to reveal his name at this time) at Miller Park. He truly was a great guy, and someone who was the first person to show me the ropes on my first day. Always was nice, and always put me in a good mood when i was having a bad day. Very sad day, and my prayers go out to his family.
  23. My lasting memory of Sutton will always be riding down the service elevator at miller park after a game(around 2004 or 2005) with him. He had his usual full suit on, except below the waist, where he was wearing tommy bahama floral print shorts(while drinking a Miller Lite). He didn't have the pants over his shoulder or anything, so i had to assume he just showed up for work like that. Whenever i would see him on TV after that, i always pictured him wearing those shorts just below camera level.
  24. Anybody get this email from the brewers today? I had been using the ball and glove Logo custom one made on firefox, but I like this one, seems pretty nice. Only downside is it gives you a "brewers toolbar"(i hate toolbars), but two clicks of the mouse and it's gone. It's available on Chrome, IE and Firefox. I like a lot, because it matches up PERFECTLY with the BF.net look. http://mlb.mlb.com/fan_forum/browsertheme.jsp?c_id=mil&partnerId=ed-6133390-302258380 http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/1438/brewerstheme.png
