  1. This feels too much like the other day when Suppan came in with a 2-2 score.
  2. Looks like 12-16 with a tiebreaker of 23 (Braun HR (3) + Weeks RBI (17) + Yo Wins (3) = 23). I think Schlitz got theblingster & RyDogg in a tiebreaker. Somebody may want to double check. I sure was hoping for Funketown.
  3. This is America. People are compensated based on what the market will bear. No one held a gun to the Brewers to give him that contract, and there were likely some other teams not far below them. He has a valid legal contract and isn't stealing from anyone. To say so is utterly ridiculous.
  4. An amazing display of bad pitching and bad defense...sometimes it's hard to tell what's worse.
  5. Look at those stands, that is worse than County Stadium in a 100 loss season and 40 degree weather. Can't believe this franchise has 2 WS wins...what a waste. They should have contracted this team, this city doesn't deserve them.
  6. Peavey and BrewCrew are spot on. To date, Soup really hasn't bothered me. He's been pitching in a mop up role and has sopped up some useless innings saving an overworked bullpen. Unfortunately there have been too many games for the Brewers where they've needed that this year. At some point you run out of arms and need to throw him into a higher leverage situation like yesterday. I think everyone knew what was coming. Now that he has failed and several players are about to come back, the pressure to take that spot will likely mean the end of the road. The booing was sad, but understandable. It's one thing to fail, it's another to get paid a boatload to do it. Fans get emotional about these things. I don't really blame Soup. He hasn't been dogging it, he's just hit the end of the road before his contract did. I'm not as convinced that salary was the only reason he's been kept around, but I'm sure it bought him some rope. I think they really thought he might turn it around, and I will give them credit for the quick hook on his starting spot. It's not like the options are that great for replacing him. Estrada hasn't exactly looked like a world beater either after the Reds game and I'm skeptical on Loe. With Vargas gone and Soup close, anyone expecting those last spots to be big upgrades may be disappointed. We still have Hoffman to turn around too...very curious that he didn't come in earlier yesterday as well.
  7. Look on the bright side...this looks like the end of the road for Soup. Why burn another arm...just leave em out there.
  8. I'm not sure why adjusting to inconsistent strike zones, even if called evenly between the two opposing teams, is part of the game. Just because that's always how it's been done and some are "traditionalists" doesn't make it right. The rules are very clear on what is and isn't a strike. Yet these umps have their own take on low or high strikes, are human or some just aren't very good (although to be fair most of them are). I respect the traditional view of the game, but I would love to see Mr. Fox Trax behind the plate. If the technology is available, why not get it right all the time? I sure don't watch the games to see some jerk like Joe West, Ed Rapuano or Phil Cuzzi.
  9. 17-10, back to .500 by the All-Star break. Tiebreaker: 8
  10. I'm feeling a serious Kottaras/bf.net crush coming on...as a few others have mentioned, he may be the second coming of 3TO.
  11. I wish things would hve worked out for Billy here. I always liked him quite a bit, but boy was he bad by the time he left. Maybe he should do the reverse Ankiel and give it a shot. 95? we could use one of those.
  12. They may take the heart off those I Hart NY t-shirts after this weekend...wow.
  13. The Doorman never gets it wrong I'm still up and buzzing over that win. Yo was truly an ace tonight. Peterson was emotional in the postgame interview. Just some great baseball from both teams and both pitchers. In the end, the pitch count mattered...Yo gets through 9 and Jo gives way to the meatballer after 8. Man it's good to be on the other side of one of these. I'm really happy for those guys. edit: For Davey to give Yo the nod over Corey for Player of the Game is saying something...I swear Corey is his adopted son, he loves that guy.
  14. He was warming up...saving for the "save situation"...thank you flawed baseball strategy
  15. You know it's bad when most rational people would side with Ozzie. West is a clown. The egos on these guys are unreal. They should all be replaced with machines.
  16. Any stats on what Gomez' OBP is when attempting to bunt vs. other times? Is that an appropriate thing to look at?
  17. Not sure I agree with you trwi7 on the Lopez trade. He was effective last year and Gillespie is fairly pedestrian (although we could use pedestrian as a 6th OF this year). I would declare the Linebrink trade a loser simply because Thatcher did what they wanted Linebrink to do that year. I guess the minor leaguers are TBD, but that was a failure in the year it was done.
  18. Stern is really racking up the frequent flyer miles...and yes it would have been nice to have him in the 10th today.
  19. Brilliant strategy by Macha. Since Lucroy may have actually made contact, he could have hit into a DP. He knew Wolf would strike out and Rickie would walk. Brilliant, just brilliant.
  20. Any word on how his movement was in the last two games? I have no idea how to look that up.
  21. I'd rather go with Kottaras and try and find some Mike Rivera type to play every 4/5 days. Lucroy needs to be in Nashville until September. He could use a full season in AAA and there is no use burning his service time if he truly is as good as we hope. He's probably not there yet and this team is a long shot at best. Tough break for Zaun...he was really starting to hit and was a better defensive option than Kottaras.
  22. Nice job Johnny Wholestaff (please say with a Nashville accent). You better not be teasing me again Manny!!!
