  1. Discuss I enjoy the Olympics so I'm pretty excited for the next few weeks. I'm also a little nervous about all the worries about Russia. Hope it goes well.
  2. Anyone ever played online? Does it feel the same (responsiveness)? I guess you would also need a controller to play at a high level.
  3. Ahh yes, the NT glitch! I make that a rule when playing others, no NT dive on Pass Plays.
  4. Okay, I just wanted to say that I hooked up my NES for the first time in quite awhile and threw in good old Tecmo Super Bowl the other night. It amazes me that, to this day, this game is still so addictive. If I could only hook up my Nintendo to the internet and play my friends!!! I was really big in to video games, up until a few years ago. I just don't have the time for the new stuff. It takes a lot more time to play a game. I love that you can play a Nintendo game and be satisfied after 20 minutes. Anyway, thought I'd start a thread for some Tecmo talk and could also be used for NES talk in general. Drew Hill, WR, HOU.....amazing. Favorite Team - NYG Second Team - PHI Sleeper Bad Team - TB Not sure where I put Houston, but they are filthy on O.
  5. Hahaha! I seriously said that in my head when I read his last post. I was going to then post something about that, but ended up not. Good work Thurston! And OWBC, thanks for all your insight in to the weather. I enjoy it!
  6. Anyone know how old Lepay is? I'd love to have him in the TV or Radio booth for the Brewers for years to come!
  7. LEPAY!!!! I like Block too, but I agree, he needs someone else in there with him. Man, no matter who it is, they won't be as good as Bob. At least not for 20 years or so.
  8. Carnevor still around? I went there once and it was amazing and super cool vibe. That was a long time ago though.
  9. Monty - I think we will still see Thornburg/Nelson, but not need them to be studs right from the get go. Bullpen roles or coming up to fill for injuries. Plus Yo is gone next year isn't he? So I don't think this blocks anything, just allows them to slow play their moves in to the bigs. I also am waiting to see. I could see DM trading Yo, or maybe a prospect or two (which I think I'd hate, but just depends on the return). I'm all for keeping young pitching while trading guys like Yo at the end of their contracts.
  10. Do you think this would be done to give them a vet so they could afford to trade someone like Yo? Or do you think this was more a move to give them depth and not rush the young guys? Or I guess option 3, give them more flexibility to put young guys in the pen and bring them along that way?
  11. Whoa.....let me digest. Is this real life?
  12. I think the "I took it to recover" admission is a way for many to partially come out and ask for forgiveness but not tell the whole story. Kind of like a politician getting caught with a woman of the night. This was the first time I've ever done this and I got caught. I don't buy that usually.
  13. Yes but Yuni? Like is said, he thought he could by for a few weeks I'm sure without signing another player that would not have a spot once Hart came back. By using his two utility guys, he then would slide them in to their normal role. Also allowing him to see which one would be worth keeping. Yunibomber played well for a month, it just got ugly when hart missed a lot more time. Morris wasn't ready and he didn't want to mind screw him by throwing him up there. There aren't short term options out there for 1B. DM is doing what he can with a small bank account and without trading prospects. There isn't some magical 1B out there in Narnia that is awesome and cheap. They all have warts.
  14. Pretty sure last year DM thought he'd have Hart back in a month so thought he could get by with his current roster. This year, he thinks it's too early for our young 1b so he grabbed a couple stop gap players and will let them compete. We didn't have to trade anyone and we aren't blocking the young guys. Also, isn't general thought that you can screw up a prospect by bringing them up too soon and having them fail? I think he's doing all he can right now, and to me it looks smart.
  15. Do you really think that was a possibility? I don't know, seems like quite a long shot. Depletes the system and then makes 3 prospects worthless. Not to mention handcuffing the organization money wise. I don't think we can expect the Brewers to make any big splashes when it comes to signing veterans long term. All we can hope for is to develop young talent (through draft and trades) and hope to extend them a few years past arbitration.
  16. Isn't the Reynolds contract a minor league one? So doesn't that mean that first base is still open to be won if Morris has a great spring? Doesn't this also look like a move to give Morris a little more seasoning? I agree, if he starts out well at AAA, he'll be up and Reynolds can become the backup 1B/3B. I think this is the perfect type of move!
  17. Kind of got me excited!
  18. Pretty much what I was going to say. I like the signing. It's a smart move, doesn't block our prospects who we need to give a shot to soon. Plus if Aram breaks down, we can get some use out of Mark at 3b. To me, Melvin is thinking more long term, not sacrificing prospects, not giving a two year deal, and not blocking guys for next year.
  19. Not sure if this is on here or should be in the Minor League section, but Brewers signed him to a Minor League deal with invite to spring training.
  20. Mass Haas, thanks again for doing this, I really appreciate it and always look forward to your new posts!!
  21. Boy, I'm not sure I want to dip my toe in this conversation, but here it goes. Steroids didn't ruin the game, it could be argued they saved it. It made it hard to now compare current players to past, I'll give you that. I think baseball hurt itself for years to come by turning a blind eye to steroids. I'm in the camp that says, it was not illegal, so don't call them cheaters. You can't do that. You have to look at it like they were taking a supplement to be the best they could be. Once they came up with testing, and guys got caught, I then feel like they need to be looked at differently. Not sure how that should work for hall of fame, but if they are caught cheating, you can't decide or believe them on when they started taking them. As for pre-testing guys, put them in the hall and let the fans decide how they tell their stories. I for one will tell my son that Barry Bonds was the best hitter I've ever seen. He was taking steroids, that made him stronger, but he still was the most exciting player I've ever seen. To the quote about MLB not doing enough with all these clinics....how can they? They are legal clinics aren't they? They are distributing HGH to the population for medical reasons. They can't possibly monitor every clinic and every patient to make sure they aren't giving anything to MLB players. The only way to truly stop this is stiffer penalties. 162 games for first offense. Lifetime ban for second offense. Or it voids their contract on the first offense. The problem is what do you do with false positives, if that is possible? As long as there is big money, people will find a way to cheat. As for Braun, I will always have a hard time knowing how to look at what he did in the past. I think he's a great ball player. I think HGH makes these guys closer to 100% most of the time, instead of playing at 80% for several games. That gives you an edge I think, but don't think it makes you amazing. I think his biggest problem going forward is staying healthy. I could see him having more injury issues, which he's already had a lot of minor ones. I'm not mad at him.
  22. It would be so great if they could get closer to Scottsdale. It's so much nicer over there. I'm sure the players would love that as well. Maryvale was fine, but the area is a dump. I didn't feel it was unsafe, just not even in the same galaxy as Scottsdale.
  23. Thanks guys! Casey, are you saying that the Nvidia is the best option for graphics? I like the track pad as well, not sure what my wife likes but will find out. I hear you on the extra screen size, as right now I have a monitor hooked up to my laptop so I can have multiple screens going.
  24. Wife and I really don't need laptops anymore for our personal computers. With us both having work laptops and an iPad, we feel covered. So we decided to get an iMac to replace our old mac book pro. Cheaper to go this route. Mainly just use it for internet, spread sheets, and then pictures and video. I like how apple keeps it simple with their choices, but just wanted to see if there is anything I should be thinking about. Do I really need the 27 inch? Please, any advice would be great.
  25. I would say to narrow it down, since you liked the samsung, start there. See if you can find a Samsung that gets good reviews and meets your needs. If not, expand from there. I think samsung is solid overall.... that's what I have now. I have had no issues and the reason I initially bought it was the reviews for samsung didn't scare me off. I agree that it can be so overwhelming if you are trying to compare everything out there.
